Samples for nasal testing are easy to collect. Oftentimes, swabs can be collected while a patient is visiting their primary care physician. Swabs or nasal washes can then be conveniently sent to our lab for processing. Respiratory nasal testing may be performed as a stand-alone test or combined with other tests, such as tissue biopsies and blood tests, to develop a better idea of what’s going on within the body.
Urogenital health testing may be done on samples/specimens collected from both males and females. Testing of this nature is often ordered when a patient is exhibiting symptoms of a chronic infection of the urogenital organs. Tests may also be ordered if a patient has a suspected sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Respiratory nasal testing is one of the newer technologies. Improved specimen collection methods and testing allow such samples to be thoroughly evaluated on-site at our laboratory. Nasal testing may be used to confirm strains of common respiratory infections such as pneumonia, bronchiolitis, and influenza as well as infections from less-common sources.
With respiratory nasal testing, airborne viruses that can enter the nasal passages and lungs can be detected. It is not uncommon for the source of an infection to be unclear, or for symptoms to be potentially attributed to many different illnesses.
There are several infections and conditions related to the urogenital system. This system, also known as the genitourinary system, can contain various pathogens that contribute to similar symptoms. Urogenital health testing is often the best way to find the source of an infection that is affecting the reproductive or urinary systems.
