More on Urd/FFA's Typewriters

Oh, by the way, Urd is holding a different typewriter model. This is the Victor Index Typewriter, manufactured in 1889.

What I never looked into in my previous post about these typewriters is that these are index typewriters.

As a better way to describe their function: Index Typewriters are where you manually select the letters using your index finger on a pointer, while your other hand is on a lever that's used to print down the letters.

What differs between the Victor and the Odell 2?

The Odell 2 Typewriter is a linear index typewriter with a type-rail element. The letters are arranged in a straight row along a rail for you to be able to type.

The Victor Typewriter, meanwhile, is one that uses something called a daisy wheel. Used in electric typewriters and even early computer printers, the daisy wheel is a type element that places the letters along a wheel instead. With the pointer, you move it back and forth along the larger wheel to select the letters in the daisy wheel.

It's likely that Urd began using the Victor Typewriter since it's more compact and lighter to carry compared to the Odell. It also kind of makes sense for her to use the index typewriter because she's blind and wouldn't be able to adjust as easily to the more obvious keyboard typewriters.

I'm seeing warnings about scammers trying to commission artists but the "reference sheet" for their character they want commissioned isn't an image but a .vbs file ("visual basic script"), and will run a script when you open it, probably to yoink your account(s), but I haven't seen this from anyone who's actually clicked it yet. Just be careful and never open a file like that, 'cause people suck.

my general opinion on what people should be "allowed" to portray and what topics they should be "allowed" to explore in fiction is that you can make whatever art with whatever themes you want but i'm also allowed to think the way you handled it was tasteless and should've been done differently. my negative opinion on your handling of sensitive topics is the price of admission for publicly showcasing your work. this is not a pro-censorship stance because i am not The Government

the fact that we only have “herculean task” and “sisyphean task” feels so limiting. so here’s a few more tasks for your repertoire

icarian task: when you have a task you know you’re going to fail at anyways, so why not have some fun with it before it all comes crashing down

cassandrean task: when you have to deal with people you KNOW won’t listen to you, despite having accurate information, and having to watch them fumble about when you told them the solution from the start (most often witnessed in customer service)

I'm Gela, also known as acoraxia, formerly known as wolfloupen, and I've been struggling with domestic abuse for nearly all my life. It's gotten to the point where I find my dad sleeping in my bed when I'm in bed, my mom gaslighting me into giving her money and never getting it paid back and playing housewife for my dad whenever my mom becomes emotionally unavailable.

My mother has admitted to being abusive for the sake of it and my dad doesn't do anything to defend me from her, sometimes even joining her or making the situation worse. They weren't there to protect me when I was sexually assaulted and even tried to make me empathize with them when my abuser died. My extended family is always on their side and I've been called spoiled and selfish all my life for wanting some privacy and respect out of them.

My parents have been preventing me from maintaining a job. I get some money left over from financial aid but I've been putting that aside to help me save up to move.
