Passage 1
It’s 8 PM at the Windblume Festival, and instead of wearing a spandex suit that makes you nauseous, you’re wearing a loose dress with your hand curled tightly in Lohen’s.
You stare at him as you walk, paying no attention to the crowd as it moves around you. The area’s abuzz with laughter and conversation, the sounds of children and drunk laughter coalescing over your head. You’re smiling at Lohen’s profile, your eyes fixed to the mole studding his cheek. His lips are moving and words are coming out, but all you can focus on is that charming face of his.
You grasp his hand tighter. Lohen’s head turns to yours, his eyes blinking.
“Tight grip you got there,” he says, a smirk rising to his face. “You know I won’t run away from you, right?”
Warmth floods your cheeks. Smiling still, you give him a small nod.
“This way, I’ll ensure it.”
Lohen laughs. Aside from his call of your name, aside from his confessions of love, that laugh of his is your favorite sound in the world.
“Wanna get a candied apple?” he asks. “The guy who sells ‘em here makes the best ones I’ve ever had.”
Your eyes flick to the line, which extends from the green-tarped stand to a solid ten meters into the distance. Wincing, you say, “No…I’m okay.”
“Hm. But I want one.”
The way he pouts at you makes your heart skip a beat. Your lips split into a toothy grin as laughter bubbles in your chest.
“Let’s get you one then,” you murmur.
“You’ll stand in that long ass line with me?” he asks. “Just for one candied apple?”
“You want it, don’t you?” You squeeze his hand firmly. “I don’t mind waiting.”
A touch of pink rises to his cheeks. He laughs, though it sounds somewhat different this time. In a low, rumbling murmur, he says, “I don’t mind waiting either.”
Passage 2 — NSFW
It’s nearly midnight, and you’re in Lohen’s condo, naked before him with your hands pressed to the mattress beneath you. His eyes stare at your chest, a smile rising to his face as color blooms in his cheeks.
“I, uh…” He steps closer, placing a gentle hand to your knee. “I had a lot of fun today. Thanks for coming with me.”
The way his thumb brushes your skin gives you pleasurable chills. You smile back up at him, lifting his free hand to your cheek.
“I had a lot of fun too,” you tell him. “Thanks for inviting me.”
“Of course.”
The silence between you stretches on. You stare at him, he stares at you, and in an instant, you know what he’s thinking.
Slowly, you drag his hand from your face to your neck. You guide his palm across the flat of your chest before directing him to your breast. It doesn’t take much encouragement for him to start squeezing.
“Bun,” he says, his voice quiet. “For a while now, I’ve kinda been wondering about something. And if the answer’s no, that’s fine.”
Your heart skips a beat. Lohen gropes you beneath his palm, and your cunt throbs. You watch the curl of his fingers, your breath coming out shaky between your parted lips. When you look back up at him, you watch his throat bob.
“I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable,” he murmurs. “But I’ve just been wondering…if you want me to put it in this time?”
Your breath catches in your throat.
You look down at his pelvis, where his dick is standing, his pink tip spewing precum already. It’s not a sight you haven’t seen before, but something about thinking of it inside of you, scares you.
But you trust him.
You need to—.
“I-if you want to,” you stammer, “then, yes.”
“I…only wanna do it if you want to,” he replies. “If you don’t, that’s fine.”
“I’m sorry,” you blurt. “It’s not that I don’t want to, I’ve just never…I’ve never done that before.”
His eyes widen. The way he squeezes your breast is so hard, it almost hurts.
“You’ve never…had sex?”
Your ears burn. You want to tell him that you’ve only ever used your mouth or your hands, but you don’t want to bring up the past. When Lohen leans in, his lips brushing the bridge of your eyebrow, you flinch and squeak, “I haven’t.”
Both of his hands lift to your face. He presses a kiss so chaste, but so firm to your forehead, it feels like there’s something sacred between you. His breath quivers when he says, “So I’d be your first.”
“My…my only.”

in which, in a moment of grief and mourning, alhaitham shows up at your doorstep when you need it most
content. alhaitham x gn!reader, 1.8k words, hurt/comfort, grief, mentions of illness, death and a deceased body (just one tho), established relationship, bits and pieces of alhaitham's backstory, unedited, written in lowercase bc it's kinda aesthetic
you've cried hard enough for your temples to throb.
the insides of your eyelids were dry, seered with the aftermath of hours upon hours of crying, tracing the sceleras with an aggressive shade of pink. they had an adamant refusal to remain open, fluttering shut with their own insistence—yet sleep was impossible to pursue with the violent headache settling in your skull.
over persistent sniffling, you heard your front door unlock, followed by a voice, deep in both tone and concern.
"y/n? are you awake?"
all you could muster was an incoherent sob, and alhaitham's footsteps echoed across the floor, stopping in front of your couch, where you wept.
he held out a large plastic bag. "i brought food. and i used the spare key." alhaitham's adam's apple bobbed, apprehensive and stressed. "would you like company?"
you knew better not to bother him. especially at 3 am on a weekday.
yet you nod, a slow, pleading motion.
alhaitham placed the bag down, unbothered by the used tissues littering your coffee table as he treaded closer to you, while you were wrapped in a thin blanket.
he crouched in front of you, picking up a stray tissue and wiping a tear off. "im sorry for your loss. truly."
loss. the reason for your abrupt departure from school, what drove you to sprint to the hospital. the death of your dear grandmother.
an attempt to say thank you deteriorates into a choked sob.
"just rest, alright?" he picked up the tissues, without a flinch nor batting an eye, tossing them into the bin. "you don't have to tell me anything."
the tip of your nose itches and burns, with every tissue you've blown into it. you can't see it, but it's probably just as red as your eyes.
"i wish i visited more."
"hm?" turquoise irises glance at you.
"even before she stopped being able to talk." you choke on another sniffle. "i feel like i never got to know her, beyond being my grandmother."
now that you've mentioned it, it'd been long enough for you to forget her voice, from her lectures to keep studying to the way she'd wish you good night—all that came to mind were her last few hours, gasping for air and relief, whilst being attached to a number of medical contraptions you didn't know the name of.
"i miss her." you choked again, chasing after air. "before she got sick. i should've spent more time with her."
a trembling hand fumbled with your tissue box. alhaitham's pries it from you, pulling out a tissue.
"i lived with my grandmother. from before i could remember my parents, up until i was fourteen." alhaitham sat beside you, readjusting your blanket. "i felt the same as you."
his ring clad hand wrapped around you, as he planted a kiss onto your temple. "you've done nothing wrong. no amount of time feels sufficient when your love is infinite. your regrets are simply a sign you care."
you thank him. or at least try to. it drowns in your sobbing.
seeking comfort in him, you leaned in closer resting your head on his shoulder. his chin settled on top of your head, as he let you weep.
you have no idea how much time passes, when alhaitham speaks over your crying.
"my favourite thing my grandma made for me was quiche."
you blew your nose again and looked up at him.
"it's actually her original recipe." he cleared his throat. "i complained about sabz meat stew being too messy as a kid. the mess was probably my own fault."
you snorted at the thought of him being so indignant and stubborn and young, when he was now a man well-versed in accountability.
"but she still came up with a new. she cooked it in a pan so i could read and eat at the same time. i suppose it's not the exact same as a quiche. still my favourite nonetheless. i have the recipe, but no one could make it as well as her."
he felt your head rest against his chest again. lithe fingers stroked it, a soothing pace and warmth.
"what about you? tell me all about your grandmother."
alhaitham awaited a response, but was met with nothing. only snoring from your stuffy nose, and the slow rising and sinking of your chest.
he closed his eyes.
you awoke to a terrible headache, or moreso the one from last night never left you.
alhaitham wasn't there besides you. you were sprawled across the couch, under your blanket and a pillow you didn't remember bringing to the living room.
a patient glass of water waited for you on the coffee table, which was supposed to be covered in tissues and grief.
"it's not eleven yet. did i wake you?"
you blinked. "no. my head hurts."
alhaitham gestured to the glass. "drink. it's because you're dehydrated."
you followed, gulping down the glass. you don't remember the last time you drank water.
"sorry about last night." you murmured. bringing food over at 3am was inconvenient enough, let alone staying the whole night.
he cocked a brow. "about?"
"well y'know. crying all night."
it started with a simple text message, alhaitham asking why you had to cancel your date and if everything was alright. it descended into a phone call in the middle of the night, announcing your grandmother's departure in forced composure.
"that's a good thing. it means your grandmother is very loved."
"that's not the point. exams are right around the corner and you came over at 3 am. it's not exactly...convenient."
"loss isn't convenient. i don't think grief should be, either." he calmly retorted, glancing towards the kitchen, then his watch. "i never thought of it as a bad thing. i didn't shed a tear when my grandmother passed away. i think you're doing a lot better than me."
you furrowed your brows, picking up on the vague tune of whistling from somewhere in the kitchen. "you—you can't say that. everyone experiences it differently."
a knowing smirk curls in his lip, one of affection rather than condescension. "there you go. you understand that principle perfectly fine. disagree now, and you'd be calling me callous and yourself considerate."
you opened your mouth to protest, but nothing came to mind. you accepted your loss and sunk back into the couch. your eyes still burnt and your head screamed for help, but at least the initial shock had worn off. your grandmother has passed, and wherever she may be now, she'll be okay—is what you'll tell yourself.
there's a cold dread that claws up your chest when you think of her lifeless form. but you screw your eyes shut, watching your boyfriend move from your kitchen to you. you were sore from waiting in the hospital for so long, your feet complained as they creaked against wooden floorboards.
he brought another glass of water. "keep drinking water, you need to rehydrate. you should sleep more too."
you shook your head, after gulping down the glass (which, alhaitham immediately pried from your hand for another refill). "i was already behind on a lot of work. i don't want to do anything, but i can't be bothered to contact uni and get extensions."
it's stupid really. not wanting to do the latter but being too drained for the former. all that's in your mind is sleeping and the funeral.
alhaitham shrugged. "then don't. i have notes for your upcoming mandatory readings, and the content you missed in class yesterday. take the day off, too."
"you're, not in that course?"
he shrugged again. "cyno is. i borrowed his textbook so i could make notes for the next week or so."
a weak chuckle tumbled out. "you're unbelievable."
the composed, serious glint in his eyes melted into something soft, warm—something that only you were privileged to witness. "i had to." he lifts the lid off the pot on your stove, soon closing it again. "i know how it feels. no one wants to do anything after someone passes."
you picked at your nails. "well yeah. but i know how important uni is to you, especially right now. and you've got honours and stuff to worry about, i mean i do too—but for you it means everything and i'm not in the right headspace right now and—"
alhaitham sighed, leaning into you and wrapping his arm around you. a hand found its way behind your head and the other snaked around your waist. his chin found refuge on your shoulder.
"you're important. both you and your feelings. my studies can wait if yours have to too. we both know i'm capable enough regardless." he pulled back to look you in the eye. "i hated how the world kept spinning when it felt like mine froze. so for you, i'll bring mine to a halt while yours is."
his thumb wiped the residue of tears under your eyes, the callused skin even warmer than the tears that you've spilt. "no, it won't be an issue, please, just let me do this for you. if there's one day you'll let me pamper you without worry, let it be today."
all the solemnity in his face had relaxed into a fearful concern. his eyes pleaded--then darted to the pot, who was angrily fuming, but it was enough for you to relent, and accept.
as alhaitham examined the contents you wrapped your arms around his waist from behind. "what are you making?"
"soup. it was meant to be ready by eleven."
"why eleven?"
"you called at approximately 2:30 am. by the time i got here and you fell asleep it was sometime past 3 am. i wanted you to get a full eight hours and wake up to warm, fresh soup." he shot an oddly judgemental look at the pot. "you might have to settle with just the food i brought though, at this rate."
you yawned, eyes watering. "i see. i don't mind either way."
while studying the recipe on his phone, he spoke to you softly; a tone with contradicted the irritated squint he gave the screen and his tightly knit brows. "do you want to sleep in your room? i'll wait until you fall asleep."
your arms released him, rubbing your eyes. "i think i'll stay. i want to spend time with you." he's convinced you to relax entirely, and quite frankly, you definitely needed it—both physically and mentally.
a succinct nod and he pocketed his phone. "i'll brew you a cup of tea and we can put on a movie. is that alright?"
"yeah." you murmured. through your fatigue and anguish, you were grateful to have him. "...i love you."
"i love you too, always." a brief kiss to the lips, and he began to prepare the kettle.

...kinematics for rotational motion is completely analogous to translational kinematics, as defined by quantities such as displacement—
You can’t help the groan that tears from your throat as you sink forward in your chair, burying your throbbing head in your arms. You had been reading the same chapter of the textbook for what felt like hours and yet you understood no more than you did two days ago when the topic was first introduced. If it weren’t for the fact it was a required course for your major you would have given up long ago.
Forcing yourself to sit back up, your eyes lazily sweep over the room, eager to find a distraction—not that there are many particularly interesting things around, to be honest. You are in Albedo’s lab, as per usual after classes. The walls around you are covered with tall shelves lined with glass vials, beakers, and funnels. Plastic bottles with sloppily jotted labels of names you didn’t dare even attempt to pronounce border machines you are positive cost more than your life is probably worth on the black market. In short, it is the typical laboratory scene you had grown familiar with over the course of your relationship with Albedo.
Albedo…
You chance another quick glance at your homework before making up your mind and gathering the loose papers in your arms.
Padding over to the next room you find your boyfriend seated at a back table, working diligently on jotting down notes on a titration system of some sort. As you approach you begin to feel slightly guilty, knowing you don’t deserve to interrupt his important research with your stupid homework question but he’s turning toward you before you can even think to back out. He offers you a small smile that makes your heart skip a beat and politely asks if you need something, seemingly unbothered by your interruption.
When you explain your struggles with an assignment, Albedo is quick to offer his help, assuring you that he isn’t working on anything particularly time sensitive as he moves his own notebook and flasks out of the way to make room.
You’ve always been at least slightly perturbed by just how attractive your boyfriend is—effortlessly charming blue eyes that hold a visible intelligence only further enhanced by the fitted white coat resting on his shoulders. You have spent more time than you’d like to admit thinking about Albedo’s blue latex gloves on various parts of your body, undivided attention on you as he gazes down at you with that intense expression he gives his experiments, taking note of your every reaction while your overstimulated body trembles beneath him-
“Y/n?”
You startle at the sound of his soft question, flustering at where your thoughts had strayed while he eyes you curiously.
“S-sorry, what?”
Albedo only offers another achingly sweet smile, ever patient with you as he repeats himself.
“I said, unfortunately I don’t think there are any other chairs so you’ll have to sit in my lap—if you don’t mind.”
Your brain nearly short-circuits.
He looks at you so earnestly, unaware of your inappropriate thoughts as he offers his open lap to you. You know for a fact here is another chair in the next room you had just been sitting on five minutes ago. It was only a few meters away, you could easily roll it into the room and beside him—but when will you ever get this chance again? Could you really turn down such an opportunity?
The answer is no.
Eagerly, you perch yourself on one of his thighs, careful not to rest all of your weight on him for fear of making your usually reserved boyfriend uncomfortable—but it seems the effort was for nought as he wordlessly wraps his hands around your hips and maneuvers you more firmly into his lap as if you weigh nothing.
The casual show of strength sends a flash of heat straight through your gut and you find yourself forgetting how to breathe as Albedo takes the papers from your hands and sets them on the table in front of you two.
He takes only a few moments to read over your notes, scanning the words you hardly understand with ease while you try not to notice how his hot breath fans over your neck when he softly exhales.
Albedo seems to comprehend the assignment quickly, the concepts familiar to him despite never taking your course and he begins to explain the assignment in detail. In the beginning you tried to pay attention—you made an honest to Barbatos effort to listen—but the way his chest softly rumbles against your back every time he speaks along with his natural minty scent invading your nose proves too great of a distraction and his words quickly become background noise.
Truthfully, studying physics becomes the last thing on your mind. Instead, you find yourself studying Albedo’s features from the side, watching the way his half-lidded cerulean eyes flit across the paper before your gaze hones in on his lips that look temptingly soft as they curve to form words in that calming tone you’ve always loved.
It’s shameful how quickly your thoughts shift as you imagine what else you know those pretty lips are capable of. Where those lips had been...
You shift uncomfortably in his lap as the dampness between your thighs becomes apparent.
“Do you understand?”
Huh?
Albedo looks down at you expectantly, expression impassive as he patiently awaits your answer. Beneath his fingertips lay your scattered physics notes, hastily copied from the whiteboard in lecture despite you not even knowing what the hell you were writing down. In the margins you spot Albedo’s own tiny, messy but pretty handwriting as he had meticulously explained your professor’s lesson in his own words in the hopes that you would better understand.
You try to school your features into something you hope resembles confidence as you nod.
Albedo returns his attention to the papers with a hum and you sag in relief, thinking he bought your white lie—but his next words quickly prove otherwise.
“I don’t think you’ve been paying attention at all.”
You freeze, feeling like a child caught with their hands in the cookie jar. You open your mouth—whether to defend yourself or apologize you aren’t sure, but Albedo beats you to it anyway, his hands returning to your waist with a firm grip as he speaks.
“In fact,” he drawls, “you’re squirming so much—I think you’ve been thinking about other things.”
He presses you more firmly into his lap, completely thwarting all potential chance of escape as his eyes slide back over to you, trapping you in his unreadable gaze.
“Tell me,’ he orders, “what exactly were you thinking about?”
Your throat suddenly feels bone dry, incapable of making a sound as your thoughts become little more than radio static. At your silence, Albedo seems to grow impatient and his grip on you tightens before he forces you into a rocking motion that sends you gasping and scrambling to find something to hold on to. Your hands brace you on the edge of the table in front of you as every muscle in your body tenses, the sensations of your clothed crotch brushing against his firm thigh sending shockwaves through your body.
“Hm? I need an answer, Y/n.”
“Y-you,” you manage to choke out, tongue feeling heavier than usual.
Albedo hums thoughtfully continuing to roll your hips into his own in pace that is almost infuriatingly slow. However, the moment you begin to consider taking matter into your own hand, he abruptly halts, a hand on your back pushing you forward so suddenly that you’re forced to splay your hands out on the table in front of you to prevent yourself from face-planting. Albedo pays your surprised squeak no mind as his hands find purchase on your ass in his lap, shamelessly lifting your skirt so the fabric gathers over your hips, exposing your cotton panties to his analytical gaze.
You nearly choke on your own spit when you feel him press a finger into the rapidly dampening fabric, pressing right over your hole that flutters needily upon contact. The sensation makes you squirm, involuntarily pressing your clit over the hardness in his crotch that makes his breath audibly hitch.
“Hn...’Bedo,” you slur, pressing back into the rhythmic stroking of his fingers.
“I believe it may be easier for you to understand if I showed you the laws of motion firsthand, no?”
You shiver at the implication before startling with a high pitched mewl as his finger stealthily slips past the side of your underwear to enter your cunt without warning.
You’re soaking—the squelching sounds making it apparent along with how easily his long index finger slides in and out of you. When he presses a second finger alongside the first you clench down instinctively before your gummy walls accept the intrusion, sucking his digits in in a way that makes both of you slightly lightheaded.
“You’re already drenched,” Albedo comments coolly, as if making a casual observation on an experiment. It only serves to make you whimper and rock your hips into him impatiently.
After only a few more moments he removes his fingers and you whine at the loss, ready to verbally complain until you feel him shift beneath you and you hear the familiar sound of a zipper.
You use what little strength you have left in your arms to lift your upper body and sneak a peak over your shoulder as he pushes his pants down enough to release himself. The familiar sight of his cock, not particularly girthy but long and flushed with desire makes you clench around nothing, nearly losing your breath when a dribble of precum catches in the fluorescent lights. Albedo’s cock, like the rest of him, is achingly pretty.
Your silent admiration is cut short when he grabs your hips again, pushing you up just high enough to perch directly above his length, the head brushing against your opening. Your breath hitches in anticipation as you gaze unsteadily down at the table, your forgotten homework staring back mockingly.
“Are you ready?” he asks softly.
Without turning around you can feel how his gaze lingers on the back of your head, patiently awaiting your permission regardless of how apparent your arousal is.
The tenderness makes your chest clench.
“Yes,” you whisper, and it is enough to have Albedo steadily easing you down, breaching your walls even as they spasm at the intrusion.
It stings even more so than usual due to the limited preparation, Albedo undoubtedly mindful of how the two of you are still in his lab where other students or professors could walk in at any moment. Even so, the moment he bottoms out, his tip brushing against something deep deep inside of you, you can process little more than pleasure as you call out for him to please just move already.
Ever attentive, Albedo follows your instructions, using his grip on your waist to rock your body into him, forcing you to follow his pace even as your legs begin to tingle from their unconventional position trapped between his thighs and the armrests of the chair.
Albedo steadily picks up the pace, the force of his thrusts threatening to knock the wind out of you as your whole body shakes with the momentum. The slick slaps of your skin against one another echo around the laboratory walls but your mind is too preoccupied with the sensation of him battering your insides to even consider keeping the noise down.
You squeal when he suddenly pulls you towards him. Your back meets his chest, warm even with layers of clothing between you two and his right hand snakes around to pull your skirt higher, offering you the perfect view of his cock moving inside of you when you look down, spearing your pussy open repeatedly while your arousal clings to you thighs and the dark fabric of his pants in cloudy strands.
“You’re more responsive than usual—perhaps you’ve always wanted to be defiled in my lab,” Albedo muses, lips nearly brushing your ear with how close he is.
You want to deny it. You want to look away. You want to disappear from the shame—but instead you clench harder around him, tearing a stuttered moan from his lips as you babble out something you hope resembles a denial.
“If you keep that up I might not be able to hold back,” Albedo warns, breathless.
The hand holding up your skirt shifts downward to apply pressure to your swollen clit, circling the nub relentlessly until you’re jerking around in his lap, unsure if you want to be closer or further away.
“P-please,” you whimper helplessly.
“Hm? You don’t want me to hold back?”
If he was hoping for an answer you don’t provide one, merely shaking uselessly in his arms as he bounces you on his cock like a ragdoll. Your stomach tightens while your thoughts scatter.
“Do you want me to breed you?”
The moan his suggestion rips from your throat borders on pornographic and he shudders when he feels the way you gush around him, sullying his slacks beyond repair. It only encourages him to fuck into your willing body faster, rutting into you with a force that would knock you off his lap if it weren’t for the firm hold he has on your body. You swear you can almost feel the tip of his cock brushing your cervix on a particularly hard thrust.
“Ah,” he huffs out, “of course you do—it’s the natural biological response. Your body craves to be bred, filled with my seed until you’re nice and swollen, fulfilling your duty to repopulate the species."
You can barely understand what he’s saying anymore but your body seems to respond anyway, heating to the point you fear you’ll burn from the inside out, your walls rhythmically clenching around his pistoning length, urging him to release deep inside of you, to leave his mark.
Abruptly, he pinches your clit, urging you to yelp as the tension in your body snaps, spasming until he’s stuttering your name and spilling inside of you, painting you walls with his own hot release. His hips stutter for a few thrusts before he resorts to just gently grinding into you, fingers releasing your clit to avoid overstimulating you.
The two of you take a few moments to catch your breaths, limbs feeling like jelly as you lie against him, your own heartbeat loud in your ears.
At some point, you eyes flutter closed and your exhausted body threatens to fall asleep until you feel him shift beneath you, softening length still lodged firmly inside of you.
“Y/n,” Albedo starts, voice entirely too steady to have just fucked your brains out thirty seconds ago.
You murmur noncommittally, secretly hoping he’ll just let the two of you rest for an hour or two.
this is a really good example of how i personally prefer my smut writing! there’s a lot of good soup here, and I’ll def refer back to this whenever i need more ideas 🩵 tysm for sharing with us!!!

gosh i rlly need to stop drawing only bunny lohen 👉👈 my inbox is open for suggestion (only lohen x you please!!!) thought i can't guarantee to draw it all ;w;
lohen x sick!reader. except i dont tell you what type of sick you got. ansgt. childhood bestfriends.
Inspiration Credit: This fic was heavily inspired by the incredible work of @chai-writes-stuff! some of the emotional motifs belong to them. Please go check out their amazing writing!
There was a specific routine to the way Lohen lived his life before he became the Vice Captain of the Ranged Squad. His parents taught him that a good life must be like a finely crafted bow—straight, consistent, and predictable. Every single action had to align perfectly.
But you were never a part of that predictable routine. You were the soft, erratic heartbeat of his childhood. You were the person who sat on the stone walls of Mondstadt with him, laughing at his terrible jokes, swinging your legs over the edge while the wind brushed past your ears. He was wild, chaotic, and hiding a deep, jagged bloodlust beneath a carefully crafted mask of cocky charm. You were the only one who could look past the manic gleam in his dull red eyes and see the boy who had been terrified of being controlled by monsters long ago.
And then, you got sick.
It wasn't a sudden, heroic wound from a Hilichurl blade. It was a slow, crushing decay. The doctors at the cathedral whispered words like terminal and incurable.
When Lohen first heard the news, his smile didn't falter. He simply chuckled, tapped his chin, and made a flippant comment about how the Favonius medics were getting lazier by the day.
But then, he disappeared.
One week turned into a month. A month turned into three. For nearly half a year, the person who used to look for you every single morning suddenly became a ghost. If you walked down the halls of the Knights of Favonius headquarters, he would turn a corner the moment he spotted your pale face. If you sat by the fountain in the plaza, he would suddenly find an urgent monster-hunting commission outside the city gates.
Lohen hated things he couldn't fight. He refused to spar with training dummies because objects that couldn't strike back were boring. But a terminal illness? It was an enemy he couldn't pierce with his polearm. He couldn't trap it, he couldn't poison it like he did with Varka’s drinks for fun, and he couldn't outrun it. The thought of watching your life slowly bleed away—watching the only person who truly anchored him dissolve into nothing—terrified him so deeply that his mind broke it down into pure, unfiltered avoidance.
If he didn't see you die, then maybe you weren't actually dying.
It was a stupid, childish lie. But it was the only way he could keep his sanity while he hacked away at monsters in the Whispering Woods, his Cryo vision flaring with an angry, freezing desperation.
By the time the autumn leaves began to drop, your strength had completely faded. You couldn't leave your bed at the cathedral anymore. The room smelled of antiseptic and bitter herbs. Your breathing was shallow, a faint, rhythmic scratching sound against the quiet of the room.
The door didn't creak when it opened. Lohen was too good at stealth for that.
You didn't turn your head. You already knew the heavy, cold presence that entered the room. The scent of frost and wind followed him.
"Well, look at you," Lohen’s voice broke the silence. It was loud. Too loud. He stepped into the light, his hands resting casually behind his head, that familiar, cocky smirk plastered across his face. The greenish rings in his eyes were blown wide, and his pale skin looked almost as ghostly as yours. "You really love dragging things out, don't cha, bun? I thought you’d be up and running by now. The monsters outside are getting boring without you watching me tear them apart."
You let out a soft, wet chuckle. "You're a terrible liar, oh mighty vice captain."
The smirk on his face twitched. He pulled up a wooden chair, turning it backward so he could lean his arms over the backrest, staring down at you. "Me? Lie? Never. I'm the most honest knight in Mondstadt. Just ask Varka."
"You've been avoiding me for five months," you whispered. Your voice was so thin it barely carried across the bedsheets. "Did you think I wouldn't notice?"
Lohen looked away, his jaw tightening. He reached into his coat, pulling out a piece of bubblegum, popping it into his mouth just to give his hands something to do. "I've been busy. Ranged Squad duties. Mika keeps messing up the maps, and someone has to keep the perimeter clear."
"Lohen."
He stopped chewing.
"Look at me."
Slowly, his dull red eyes dragged back to your face. For the first time in your life, you saw the absolute, terrifying cracks in his armor. Sitting in front of you was just a boy who was losing his entire world, frozen in place by a monster he couldn't kill.
"You're going to leave," Lohen said. His voice wasn't loud anymore. It dropped into a flat, raw tone. "Everyone keeps saying it. Barbara, Jean, the Grandmaster... they all look at me with those pitying eyes. I hate it. I hate that you're just sitting here letting it happen."
"I don't have a choice," you said softly, reaching out a trembling, weak hand.
Lohen stared at your fingers. For a second, he looked like he wanted to grab your hand and squeeze it, to anchor you to the physical world. But he didn't move. He feared that if he touched you, he would break whatever fragile magic was keeping you breathing.
"I wanted to see you one last time," you murmured, your vision starting to blur as the heavy weight of sleep pulled at your eyelids. "I'm not mad that you ran away. I know how you are. You only like battles you can win."
"This isn't a battle," Lohen retorted, his fists clenching so hard his knuckles turned white. A faint, freezing mist began to roll off his shoulders, the temperature in the room dropping instantly. "It's a joke. It's unfair."
"There is a letter," you managed to voice out playfully. Your eyes slowly closed, a peaceful, tired smile resting on your lips. "Under my pillow. Promise me you'll read it after I'm gone. Don't throw it away."
Lohen didn't answer. He couldn't. His throat felt like it was clogged with ice. He sat there in the dim room, listening as your breaths grew longer, further apart, until finally, the rhythmic scratching sound stopped completely.
The silence that followed was the loudest thing he had ever heard.
The funeral was small. Lohen didn't attend the service. He stood far away, hidden in the shadows of the whispering stone arches of the cathedral, watching the small crowd gather around the grave. His face was entirely blank. The mask was back on, completely unreadable, cold as the northern winds of Mondstadt.
When everyone left, he walked back to your empty room. The sheets had already been stripped from the bed. The scent of herbs was fading, replaced by the hollow smell of an abandoned space.
But on the bare mattress, right where your pillow used to be, sat a small, folded piece of paper.
Lohen walked over, his heavy boots clicking against the stone floor. He picked it up with calloused, trembling fingers. He slid his thumb under the fold and opened it. Your handwriting was shaky, written over the course of those lonely months when he refused to visit.
__________
To Lohen,
If you are reading this, it means I finally lost my match. Don't be too angry at the archons, and please don't take it out on the monsters in the woods. They didn't do this, hahah.
I'm writing this because I have a secret. A very big one. And since I am a bit of a coward, I could only tell you when I was sure you couldn't run away from the conversation.
Do you remember when we were ten? The day you got rescued from those bad people, and everyone in the city looked at you like you were broken? You sat by the lake, throwing rocks, looking so angry at the world. You told me you wanted to become so strong that nobody could ever dictate your life again.
Everyone else was scared of you because you started carrying knives and talking about blood. But I wasn't. Because when you looked at me, your eyes were always gentle.
I have loved you for a very long time.
Not just as the kid I grew up with, and not just as a friend. I loved the way you laughed when you were genuinely happy, not just when you were being cocky. I loved the way you always made sure to walk on the outside of the path to protect me, even when you claimed you were just looking for a fight. I loved every single version of you.
I knew you didn't see me that way. I knew you were too busy chasing strength, chasing freedom, chasing Varka across the battlefields. So, I didn't want to ruin the one steady routine we had left.
My only regret is that I lied to you for so many years.
Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for the memories. Don't stay frozen in this winter, Lohen. Keep moving forward. Keep fighting.
With all my love,
Your biggest fan.
__________
Lohen stood frozen in the center of the empty room. The paper crumpled slightly in his grip.
His mind raced backward, tearing through a decade of memories. Every shared glance, every time you reached out to touch his arm, every time you smiled through your tears when he came back covered in blood—it all flashed before his eyes with agonizing clarity.
You had loved him.
And he had spent the last five months of your life running away because he was a coward who couldn't face the reality of losing you. He had deprived you of the only thing you wanted—his presence, his warmth, his truth—all to protect his own selfish heart.
A choked, desperate sound tore from Lohen’s throat. He dropped to his knees against the cold stone floor, pulling the letter closely against his chest. Tears, hot and furious, finally spilled over his pale cheeks, burning against the skin beneath his right eye.
"Bun, you idiot," he sobbed into the empty room, his body shaking violently as his Cryo vision pulsed faintly. "You absolute idiot... how am I supposed to move forward after this?"
The wind howled outside the cathedral window, rattling the glass, but there was no voice left to answer him.

"Parasocial" // obsessive fan!Lohen x streamer!Reader HCs
cw: yandere themes (obsession, stalking), fem!reader, V*rk* 🤢 and Mika 🥰, Kaeya mentioned
a/n: I haven't written headcanons in so long y'all, idk if I even remember how to do this LOL also the Varka slander is a joke I swear—
You’re a miscellaneous content creator, videos ranging from gaming streams to a long-winded analysis of a weird SpongeBob episode
While you aren’t a big name by any means, you have a decently sized fanbase and enjoy what you do
Lohen discovers you on accident, your gaming stream happening to play next on the YouTube recommended he has playing for background noise
He wasn’t really paying attention–preoccupied with sharpening one of his favorite knives–when you crack a joke
Your joke is slightly out of pocket and a touch too dark, the type of jokes Lohen likes but has your co-host crying out an anxious, “oh my god, you can’t say that!”
The moment Lohen looks up to see the face of the girl who made him laugh, it’s over...
Within a few days he has binge watched every single one of your videos, even the "lost media" low quality shit you had deleted from your page once you started blowing up
Lohen has notifications turned on for every Twitter fan page, every subreddit, every Instagram account–if your username is in the bio, he is there
Even his coworkers feel like they know more about you than they should just from how often Lohen rambles
Sometimes Lohen will burst into a fit of giggles out of nowhere in the middle of an overnight shift, nearly giving the other security guards a heart attack
When someone finally mustered up the courage to ask why Lohen was laughing, he told them you “said something funny in his head”
...No one ever asked again
Mika once found Lohen’s wallet he had forgotten at his desk and saw a printed photo of you tucked in there like you were his wife and he had gone off to war
When he returned the wallet Lohen had immediately looked for the photo, seeming more relieved to have that back than his credit cards
Varka has told Lohen his behavior is “concerning”
Kaeya just calls him parasocial
Lohen doesn’t care at all and has started leaving work saying he is going to “hang out” with you on the days he watches your live streams
During your streams Lohen surprisingly never comments
He prefers to dedicate all his attention to watching you, barely even blinking while you recount some mundane moments of your day
In a tweet you announce that you are accepting submissions for fanmail to open on stream next month and post a picture of an address
Lohen doesn’t need to look up the address to know it’s not your actual house address–he already had that memorized months ago
He vocally agonizes over what to send you for weeks, wanting to make sure his gift stands out but is also valuable, something you can’t easily buy for yourself
Varka made it a point to remind Lohen that a vial of poison is not an appropriate gift
“Pfft,” Lohen scoffs, “of course I’m not going to mail her poison. The chemicals would destabilize during the shipping process.”
Varka doesn’t sleep that night
Inspiration strikes Lohen while he is in the middle of listening to a 3 hour compilation of you getting ragebaited on Fortnite–he’ll send you a knife, one custom made using his own materials
Lohen spends hours upon hours forging the knife for you, the blade inscribed with your username and the handle formed from the polished bones of one of his past hunts
A few weeks and white lies to the post office staff later, Lohen is sitting in his dark room in front of his computer screen, knees pulled to his chest in anticipation as he watches you open letters and gifts
Most of the gifts are squishmallows and figures of your favorite characters, a few cheeky rabbit ear headbands and thigh high stockings slip in as well
When you finally pick up the flat box wrapped in mint green paper Lohen is practically vibrating with excitement
“I wonder what this is going to be, I don't recognize this name as a frequent chatter–whoa. Look guys, it’s a knife!”
Lohen’s heart is beating so fast he thinks he might die–you're holding his gift, the one he made just for you, and smiling like an angel
The stream comments are much less enthusiastic
chai_tea: is that…bone?
suzubunny: its not from a human is it 0_0
lupus.majoris: well, at least it’s not poison
chai_tea: ???
But you seem to enjoy the gift, testing the weight of it in your hands and admiring the craftsmanship
“This is so cool–ouch…okay, also very sharp, Thank you so much, Lohen!”
Your voice saying his name for the first time completely rewires his brain and he already plans to clip that and listen to it every night before bed for the rest of his life–Lohen giggles aloud at the thought, spinning around in his computer chair like a child
When the chair slows to a stop, his eyes catch on a bright pink sticky note pasted to the corner of his desk, a series of numbers and street name sloppily inked on it
THESE HEADCANONS ARE YUMMY ARI!!! if you like a weird and obsessive lohen, please consider giving these hc's a read! you might also notice some name drops OMG XD <3 this was a really fun read ari, thanks for sharing!!! <3
