Lovely art by Selaith/The Glorious Goat on some petsite; I'll have to double check which one.
And of course the compliment got a flushed face out of the woman. She never felt that way… There really was no reason for him to lie was there? Maybe he didn’t know the meaning of the word pretty. Hell, she wanted to rub at her face and hope that the red would go away. It wasn’t often that a compliment came her way and she actually felt like she could take it as is. ”Ya… W-Why… I-I… Thanks?” What was she supposed to say to a compliment? She rarely heard them from Mark as well, he seemed to know how Sara reacted to them in most every way and most times it was just badly.
Her arms wrapping around her daughter slowly as a small smile did pass over her lips looking down at the sleeping little girl. Using on arm to hold her and one arm to slip the neck of the sling back over her head. Always helped her just at touch to feel safer when she held her daughter. “I-I wi-will thank ya… C-Cause I-I mean it.” She wouldn’t say it if she didn’t want it to mean something. Looking back down into the sling with a small frown. “Ne-Need ta get her out of th-tha heat… Maybe home… Didja wa-wanna walk… O-Or?” Hell why did they start walking together in the first place? She couldn’t even remember the full reason… Had to be Magdelena’s crying. Ruceo has already shown he is worth more then the words he speaks.
Ruceo peered at the woman curiously, a little perplexed by the flush across her face. Was the heat getting to her as well? It was entirely possible - she was so pale in comparison to him, it might be such a bother. For a moment a little panic and worry welled up - the woman may have snapped at him earlier but he thought her nice and didn't want her to get heat-sick or something, and he quickly looked around in the hopes of finding her some shade as well. He had no clue it was directed towards the honest little compliment.
Still, he settled back down marginally when he noted her question. "Ruceo walk." He nodded slightly. "Home far. Away. Will walk with bright-walker now." It wasn't as if he had anywhere else to go and be in this strange Mojave-place he found himself..
"I know." Muttering out words before she even realized she was most likely doing what others did around herself. Trying to make sense of her words to make sure they didn’t say the wrong thing back. Clicking her teeth shut as she found her hands again in her hair as she was crouched uncomfortably in front of the other. The sounds now around her were able to hit her ears with out the added noises that she had been panicking about a few minutes ago. "No… T-There is uh lot." She could go off on hour rants about it all and how everything was going on around her seemed to fall apart quite easily. "I have… Didja jus’ call me pretty?" Raising a brow at the other instead of going off on a rant about… Only the wise ones know but.
Taking a deep breath as she did stand up. She was calmed down… Maggie seemed to be doing better. She was- Letting her fingers leave her hair as she ran them down her sides with a bit of a relaxed sigh leaving her lips. “Hmmm?” Offered her arms out if the other wished to take her hand to help him get up while the other held her child or if he wished to hand over Magdelena and then get up. “Thank ya…” Muttering lightly to more herself then anything. They needed to get on moving really more then anything but she wished that peace could just stay a touch longer.
At Sara's mention that there was a lot Ruceo tilted his head slightly to the side, watching her closely to see if she was gonna tell him what exactly she was meaning with it. What lot? Maybe she meant there was a lot more to life than he'd listed which was also true, he just... hadn't the words for them all. Not yet. "Yes." He saw no reason to lie there. "Bright-walker pret-ty." It was honest truth and he gave a little shrug with it, simple enough.
Able to get himself up the young tribal's first concern was the young one in his grasp, gently handing her back over to her mother before he rose to his feet. He didn't seem to notice the bits of earth that clung to him - why would he? But he smiled towards her happily enough. "No thank." A pause. "Ruceo help."
The tracks. Always with the garbage though.
With a light giggle, she reached over and gingerly took it from him, opening it up. “There’s food inside, see?” Motioning a hand towards it, she held it out again. Goodness, he was like a large puppy. She didn’t feel threatened at all. Glancing around, she found a relatively rock-free patch of ground and pulled her backpack once more from her back. “A quick rest wouldn’t be that bad.” She mumbled quietly to no one in particular as she pulled a small blanket-type cloth from the pack and tossed it to the dirt, spreading it out and taking a seat. If she came home with any more dirt on her than she already had she’d get another lecture.
Ruceo blinked in surprised when the package was plucked from his hands, but he neither fought to get it back nor complained over the loss. Instead he offered her a dopy happy grin when it was offered back to him - moving to take it back and follow her to the area she picked. Seating himself was nothing, making certain there'd be a majority of the space left for her as he nummed a little of the food out of the container... before he stopped to offer it back out to her. "We share?"

Annnnd Ruceo for me hehe.
She did half choke on an inhale of an air that could have passed as a small laugh at the other’s words. He might not be the most… Literate, was that the word, with his words but at least he knew the right things to say. Her hands did dart up straight toward her own hair grabbing onto it as more of a defensive mechanism. Trying to give herself something to pull and yank on so she knew she was there… That she was fully there. “Doesn’t mean I can’t fear it.” People didn’t always mean what they said right?
There was a tired smile on her lips as she did watch her child calm down. Maybe she would sleep… Maybe she could. Just needed to get her to a place where frankly Mommy and daughter could calm down. Exhaling slowly as she watched the tired blinks from her child in the other’s arms. “H-How…” Breathlessly getting a almost silent word out of her mouth… Hell she should be taking notes apparently. “Thanks…” Swallowing an uncomfortable lump in her throat as she almost wanted to reach out to touch Maggie… Just… She looked so much better when she could calm down a touch. To much like Mommy at times…
"Fear bad." But Ruceo did not challenge her right towards that fear - he didn't like it, but he understood it on a lesser level. It happened. It was something that, at times, assisted with necessary things such as survival. But it didn't make it any less bad. "Life no fear." A smile, again, but he couldn't motion around as he wished with the little one in his grasp. "Life... life nice. Happy nice. Happy things nice." A pause. "Little one. Pretty. Peace. Food. Travel. Lots nice. Lots no need fear." He tried to convey his thoughts, probably unsuccessfully but..
Either way he'd continued that gentle rocking, only stilling when the song was finished. He didn't remain quiet - that gentle almost-croon continued, soothing and sweet as he worked to lull the child off into slumbered. Green eyes remained between the little infant and her mother, making sure to keep his attention on them both to the best of his ability and still hoping that Sara would realize how little of a threat to her - let alone her daughter! - the tribal truly was.

She pulled her backpack off, opening it up and rummaging through its contents. “No worries, I can spare some.” Retrieving a small plastic bag, containing some old stale chips and a few still-edible-looking apple slices, she held it out to him. “Some meaning not much, since I’ve still got a trip home to make, but you look like you need it more than I do.” She smiled, realizing she really needed to stop being so nice to strangers, but that was pushed into the back of her mind.
If anything the young tribal headed closer to the woman, foolishly trusting of her and the fact he at least utterly believed that she wasn't going to do anything to bring any sort of harm to him. "What this?" He took the case from her before holding it up to his mouth to actually nom down on the edge, a playfully happy look on his face as he pulled away to try to pry it open.

"Please don't cry."
"Get away from me," her hoarse voice came out almost a growl, as she turned her head away from him, attempting to hide the tears pooling on her lashes. She didn’t have the will to deal with this right now. Crying was one thing - it was shitty, but she got over it once it was done. Crying in front of someone else, a stranger no less, was unforgivable. “Get. Away. From. Me.”
She was able to keep herself from cracking long enough to say that - now he just needed to leave. He had to go. Because she couldn’t hold it all in. Not for long.
Get away from me.
While Ruceo only understood some of those words, not nearly all, the tone back him wisely back away a few steps. But it did not eliminate the concern he wore so easily on his open face at her tears. "Ruceo wants help you." Soft words. "Tears no good. Tears sad."
A pause, tone a little softer. "Please no be sad."
