“Praise the Almighty for He has saved us once more. I knew if we welcomed Him back, He would solve all our problems. And look!” Mac sits on the stool, taking a big gulp of his beer. “We are saved.” Dennis drinks the last bit of scotch straight from the bottle and looks at Mac fondling the beads, grinning ear to ear. “I thought I lost this when the priest gave it to me but look Dennis. Look.” He starts humming and rubbing his fingers over the rosary. Dennis doesn’t know how a priest is supposed to pray with this thing, but he is sure it is definitely not like that. What really gets his goat isn’t the sheer incompetence on display but the way Mac continues to fondle those beads. He continues to do so without an inkling as to why he’s doing it. No, Dennis knows what Mac would fondle instead, of course, just like he knows it was him who saved this goddamn bar. But it’s Mac who refuses to see good reason as if he’s blind to it
