“I’m A Little Mixed Up”

Betty James

This Betty James track was originally used in this scene from QUIET CITY, but we couldn’t afford the rights so we replaced it with an instrumental cue that Keegan had written, which works nicely I think. 

Betty James wrote the track while singing in a nightclub. She was discovered by Joe Evans and Bobby Johnson who released it on our their New York City label, Cee Jay, in 1961. It became a local hit and Chess Records licensed it nationally.  James would record two more singles for Chess before disappearing from music.
