i saw my first seventeen video my junior year of high school, a couple of months after mansae came out. seventeen was a rookie group from a no-name company back then, with no show wins and no real hold in the industry.
i created a blog to talk about them, followed by a twitter; i read (and eventually wrote!) fics, watched every vlive, every variety appearance, every music show performance, bought their physical albums (with exorbitant shipping costs), collected photocards, and stayed up until 3am for their new album showcase. i lost interest when i graduated high school and their concept grew more mature and less playful.
it’s three and a half years later. by sheer luck, i live in la and have a mutual friend who works who for c&j, which manages kcon and distributes free tickets to their employees. less than a week from now, i’m going to staples center and seeing seventeen live, in amazing seats, and completely free -- i’m so beyond excited.
seventeen was a large chunk of my teen years, and they helped me get through some rough patches in my life; i remember listening to their new album while writing college essays, crying because i felt so overwhelmed; i remember playing their cds in my beater car, yelling the words to pretty u alone. though i’ve grown out of this genre of music, seeing this group live means the world to me, even if only for two or three songs -- i’m still in awe that this is going to happen! i’m so grateful!
