Keeping me on my toes
Trying my hand at digital art on a drawing tablet. This is my first big project I finally finished, it was up in a small gallery at my old university for the past 2 weeks! It was a lot of figuring out, being someone who has only used pencils and paint her whole life. Hope you all like it :)
It’s best viewed if you can zoom to see the details: http://chanoodles.tumblr.com/image/172564057515Â
I don’t know how to post on tumblr with different image viewing settings...

So much to learn about with digital art
I almost forgot to post this one. I finished this about a week ago, it will be for an upcoming art show at MacEwan University (which, by the way, I’ve recently graduated from in December, yay!).
The theme of the art show surrounds how living in Canada has influenced the artists’ ability to provide health care (the art show has asked for submission from the health studies faculty –physiotherapists, nurses, social workers, professors…). It’s for Canada’s 150th birthday.Â
I generally don’t have much political or social commentary alongside my work besides when it is only because it was personal at first and is coincidentally relevant (did that sentence make sense?). Plus, I also hate providing any written commentary for my work. I wrote up an artist statement because I was requested to for the art show but too bad, I’m not posting it cause it sucks and sounds super contrived!
The most I can really say without feeling too embarrassed is that this piece probably says something about my inability to perfectly navigate through the different cultures I will encounter as a nurse. I want to be culturally sensitive but sometimes I find myself floundering and feeling helpless. There. I guess that’s the artist’s statement D:<
