designed moulds for cement blocks. Hand made them out of cardboard.
This was an exercise that we did in class. We had to learn different links for chains and make a chain which was 7 inches. I made the queen four chain link.
Designed and hand made a self-portrait broach. This piece consists of two metals i.e. copper and brass. It consists of hand done riveting ( classic rivet to a flush rivet),I have also tried to incorporate spacer rivets in them.
The broach represent the sea, the two back plates are the waves and the texture of the sand when the water hits the shore, in front I have tried to represent the corals and different shells that are found in the beach and the ocean.
Using found objects in and around we had to design a dress isnpired by haute couture. The design that I was working on was inspired by Alexander McQueen.
We had to choose a fall leaf with enough character to replicate in mental. The metal that I chose to replicate my fall leaf was copper. We had to saw, textures and oxides the leafs.

Inspiration- The core inspiration for this topic came up because of the addiction towards social networking that my generation of friends have. We would never catch up face-to-face because we knew we could keep in touch through the various Social Networking tools and websites such as Facebook and the many Messaging Apps out there. This created a huge difference in the way we connected and ‘socialized’ compared to how people hung out prior to the existence of such technologies. I feel the communication void and since it was something close to my heart, I wanted to reflect this through stop-motion animation combined with claymation via video to reflect this. It was also the first time I worked this intensively with video using the various media types of photography, clay, voice/over and music to output this. It was something very deep and I really enjoyed the whole process from conception to post production. The intricate and detailed planning that went into the photo-shoot which needed a lot of rechecking since I was in the photographs, and recording for the voice-over were all firsts for me, and I am very happy with the final output.
Description: There are 5 parts to this video, and I play the lead role in it as well. (So you’ve seen me now!). Here’s how the parts are divided:
I write “My Social life” in a thinking bubble because this concept is my point of view. Of course, it can change from person to person.
Here the many Social apps and websites covers my face and I end up behind them, portraying how these technologies have taken over our lives and are such an important aspect of it.
This part reflects how we communicate in ‘shorter versions’ through texting, which is really sad because we are forgetting the real essence of the language and using it also in the offline world too.
By using photographs of me and my friends here, I am asking people to step away from these ……. and go out, meet people face-to-face and have fun!
For the final part, I used Claymation to capture the essence of the video. It shows the Earth changing color and people coming out of the mobile to hold hands and meet and connect reflecting positivity and how we can change the way we look at life and make the world a better place!
Inspiration-
Bangalore was once known as the ‘Garden City of India’ with its streets and avenues covered by beautiful canopies of trees. With the city bursting at its seams, a lot of the green has been replaced by infrastructural urban development. Also of late, it seems to have taken on the tag of ‘Garbage City of India’, with an inefficient garbage disposal system being put into place by the City/Government. Garbage is now seen in all street corners and Bangaloreans have not come together successfully to help the City resolve this issue. Its a sad state of affairs along with being a huge environmental and health hazard, which needs to be addressed from all sides. This piece I present here is an experimental (read: WIP) solution that I’ve been tinkering with on my own which brings in both a facility that manages the garbage while adding more green to the city. I see this as an Architectural structural solution that could be added throughout the city. Obviously it is just at an idea level, and I wanted to work with a 3D materials and mess around with structures.
Description: The facility or structure improves the city both environmentally and aesthetically. Some ideas that I am working with are:
The tall concave towers have solar panels on one side and are mirrored on the other side to help improve the efficiency of the solar power produced (the mirror image of the solar panels will increase the power)
The non degradable wastes such as metal and plastics are disposed in the cylinder through separate funnels for each type of waste (plastic, metal, glass), which can then be further compressed to form recycled waste sheets that can be used as walls or dividers, etc.
The triangular shapes that are hollow in the center is where the biodegradable waste goes, which can be directly smart-composted into the soil making the soil around the facility fertile. This can also help with improving the vegetation around the area improve thus providing a space for recreation, like a public park.
Elements that could be added to this would be a pond, swings, slides, sandpits, jogging track, etc and lots of greening trees and flowering shrubs with shade, benches, and gazebos for Bangaloreans to enjoy the outdoors again.
Such public environmentally conscious spaces with solve existing issues and offers true benefits to its citizens is what our city needs right now
Description and inspiration: This is one of the biggest markets for fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. It is really similar to the farm fresh stores and markets but is at much bigger scale. This part of Bangalore is one of the few places where you find the locals mingling and huddling around to sell local produce. I chose this street and market over other stores and streets, to reflect the local colour, emotions and produce
Inspiration: I was personally requested to help out with this project by a person very close to me - my mom. :-) I am very fond of all her friends and fellow classmates, and was happy to pull it off for them.
Description: I took on the role of an illustrator and collaborated with a freelance designer to create these T-shirts for a 25th yr High School Reunion. I concepted the initial sketches and finalized the illustration for the Batch of 1990 from Sophia High School in Bangalore. The client decided to go with various coloured T-shirts with the same illustration, and I was assured this would be a fantastic and lively depiction of the ‘Annual Sports Day’ and uniform from the yonder days of the now 40 yr old graduates.

Inspiration/Thinking: This was the first time I worked with fiberglass, and it is always very exciting for me to dabble and experiment with new mediums, as you never really know what and how the final output will turn out to be. The journey through the creative process and being able to work in the Artist Studio was something I enjoyed a lot too. I have in the past, even when I was 3 and 4 years old, sculpted with lots of plaster of paris and clay creations.
Description:
This process was a lot of fun for me, and I chose to create a bust of a man, since I could relate to it easily. I decided to end up calling my day-dreamer dude the Escapist. I sculpted it with clay first, and then created a mold to cast the fiberglass in. I am very happy with how he turned out and have to say I look forward to more such experiences.
Description and inspiration: I chose this orange as my subject for an Observational Art piece because of the many textures the fruit encompasses.
Description and inspiration: Shoes is something that is a part of our daily life which a large part of the human world uses. I picked these shoes because of the comfort it offers
Description: I took on the role of Illustrator and Water-Colour Artist while collaborating with a Creative Director on this project. It was an actual recipe book in the real world for which I was commissioned for. I conceived and created the initial sketches and composed the illustrations differently for each page based on the content and layout. Each page had a different layout
Inspiration: I am very thankful for having spent more than 17 years with my Great Grandmother. She loved us all dearly and always had something special and delicious prepared for us. As a tribute to her, my family wanted to pen all her favourite recipes that we loved, to be available for the entire family through a 70 page illustrated book filled with recipes and memories treasured and narrated by her close family.
Description and inspiration: I chose this park because it brings back fond memories from my childhood and I belong to the neighborhood. We lived right across from the park and frequented it with my family and friends. It is one of the few parks in Bangalore that still has an abundance of greenery and a wide diversity of plants.
Inspiration/Thinking: Hinduism is the dominant religion in India, which has a wide spectrum of traditions and comprises of hundreds of gods and goddess. I continue to be mesmerized by the various idols and deities that exist in my religion.
Description: Here my main objective was to show the oneness and unity among various key Gods/Goddesses that play a more superior role in the practice of Hinduism. Each hand (depicting the variance) emanating from the single body (signifying the unity) has an ‘object’ or weapon representing the respective God or Goddess. For eg: the ‘chakra’ or wheel is the weapon for Lord Vishnu (The Preserver), the axe is the weapon for Kali (Goddess of Change/Time/Death), the lotus is held by Lord Brahma (The Creator), and the ‘Trishul’ or trident is the weapon belonging to Lord Shiva (The Destroyer). For me personally this painting is also a reflection of the ethnicity and tolerance to variations in belief within my religion.
