THERE WERE FEW people that could get under her skin in such a way, but the vampire smirking in front of her certainly knew how. Even when sheâd been human heâd known how to catch her attention, small smiles and whispered promises enticing her, thrilling her. Centuries later and even the mere sight of him had the blondeâs anger flare, and before the woman knew what she was doing her hand was clasp around his neck, a dangerous snarl coming from the back of her throat as her grip tightened. They hadnât parted ways on bad terms; in fact, often he crossed her mind in fondness. Heâd gifted her with this life after all, and if it wasnât for him she wouldnât of met some of the most important people in her life. But he was dangerous, and the reason she was in Mystic Falls at all was to make sure Stefan was safe.
AN AMUSED SMIRK curled at her lips, his words causing a shiver to run down her spine. It had been too long since she had heard his voice, almost craving it as she lowered her hand from his neck. Taking him by surprise had been entertaining, but she was no fool as to who out of the two of them would win in a challenge of strength. âWell, isnât this a unexpected surprise my love.â she commented in a low tone, her old term of endearment for him feeling almost foreign on her tongue. âFunny, I feel like you might need actual human emotions to miss someone.â she added, sharp tongued as ever as she dug her nails into his neck, applying just enough pressure to make the skin break.
THE SIMPLE TOUCH OF her hand around his throat sent fire rushing through his veins, his skin burning hot beneath her grasp. If he said that his love for Alexia Branson was long gone, heâd be lying. From the very moment the two met, heâd been besotted with her, she became the one and only human being that saw past the barriers heâd formed around his heart. Kol may have even been soft around the woman. It wasnât often that the vampire was in tune with his own emotions, often rushing around with his humanity turned off but, luckily for him, at the time he met the blonde, his humanity switch were very much turned on. He fell for her hard, harder than heâd ever fallen before and quite frankly, harder than he could ever see himself falling again. It was difficult to form a meaningful connection with someone when his brother Niklaus was around, considering there was no guarantee he would remain in the land of the living for very long. The words that passed her lips elicited a soft chuckle from the male and in turn, he arched a brow.
HUMMING FOR A MOMENT, the male then smirked as she tightened her grasp, her fingertips digging into his skin. Without so much of a flinch, Kol kept his gaze firmly focused on her face. âMY LOVE..â His own tongue toyed with the words she had spoken. The sound of them falling from Lexiâs mouth felt familiar, they even caused his heart to swell ever so slightly in his chest. Licking his lips, the male then straightened out his suit jacket, slender digits toying with the cuffs as he then tipped his head to the side ever so slightly, watching as she studied him. âYou know me, darling, always perfectly in tune with my own humanity.â He murmured, laughing lightly to himself. A slight smirk toyed at the corners of his lips as he then allowed his own gaze to move over her body, emerald hues drinking in the sight of her. âYou havenât aged a day,â Kol spoke, catching his bottom lip between his teeth as he reached out toward her, ghosting oh so close to the curve of her hips.
