This day was a huge success! I was apprehensive about the outcome of the wine & others perception of it! However none of that mattered! My audience was close friends and family before I begin my tasting journey! The fact that I jumped and started this venture was a true testimony of my faith with God. Now since Iâve started I have a pre order list and working on a website already! This is truly a dream come true! Looking forward to 2019. Keep up with our progress! So much more to come! Our 2019 harvest is already beginning and I have a few surprises in store!

Through out life we all experience trials & tribulations. We also experience the growth from each trial. My journey of trials began in 1995 with teenage pregnancy followed by a second child and marriage in 2000 which ultimately led to divorce in 2008. An engagement in 2012 that was called off in 2014. My first born graduating high school despite the odds of teen pregnancy in 2014. A new marriage in 2016 which has led to focusing on my own personal dreams goals in 2018. Where Chapter 38 was born!
Each event of my life carries a multitude of events that only one could imagine. Therefore in my journey to developing a logo & concept I figured the logo needed to represent the details of the trials and the progression the trials led me into.
The 38 being centered or the focal point represents the beginning. The roots sprouting from the bottom of the number 38 represents the many highs and lows during the journey. However being planted no matter the trial to move on and pick up beyond pain, hurt, humility & the like. Which has grown & developed into the huge branches extended at the top of the number. The branches are huge and strong understanding that every success has a story and that thereâs a bottom or root to the glamour. This logo has a few upgrades to be made but I was very pleased at seeing the vision come to light. My son Aj drafted the concept I had in mind and sent to a designer to play around with and this is seeing the process develop.
Everyone has roots, everyone has a future and everyone should have a focal point where the beginning and the future meet somewhere in between.....

As the fall season settles, itâs a nice cool break for Texas weather. Itâs also a time to consider what wines & food pairing work better. Whatâs unique about Texas is that we typically donât see fall settle in until about mid October. Which means we are still enduring high humid temperatures. In this case switching over to a cooler wine will have to wait. However I have noticed that there are a few fall wines you could result to when temperatures are still high.
Pinot Noir & An oaky Chardonnay come highly recommended as you settle into the Fall. Anyone who knows me know Iâm a Pinot Noir girl! This can be consumed at room temperature or chilled at about 12 degrees.
Iâm super geeked about the fall this year! Ready to explore new wine this Fall & explore Texas wine vineyards during this interesting season!
Stay tuned for the fall adventures of Chapter38wine!

Letâs start with taking the complexity out of reading wine labels. Â
1. European wine labels (old world) have a tendacy to provide more detail as shown above.
Itâs region and year of vintage are the most important articles when reading wine labels. Â This provides the level of oak or even alcohol content. With an old world wine label you will also see a difference in the shape of the bottle. Â Allowing indication to the type of grape the wine is instead of labeling it to the wine bottle itself. Â
2. Non European Wine labels (new world) provide less content to a label and instead provide basic year, name & grape type on the front. Â The back of the bottle is where American labels provide more detailed information to the wine such as alcohol content, its bottler or even import.Â
As you indulge more in wine, reading labels will become second nature. Â Although it may seem hard to understand labels at first, its fun! Â I found it easier to read European wine labels because all the information that was important to me was located on the front. Â I found that the region played a key factor in my decision making then front there I could determine how much alcohol content I wanted lol!!
Initially new world table wines were my go to and most favorite when I was on the go and just needed a simple bottle for the night. Â Central coast wine are my all time favorite! Â If you can just stick to the region of preference the rest will come easy!
My first glass of wine was a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay in 2007. Initially I loved it and occasionally indulged in social environments. Chardonnay was a gate way to be in the âknowâ I guess lol. From there I ventured off into Moscato, which I didnât take much a liking too because it was too sweet. I never even looked to indulge in reds until one day in 2011 at dinner at a steak house I decided to be spontaneous and ordered a glass of Pinot Noir based on teh waiters recommendation.  I have donât even remember who made it. I just recall it being the most refreshing wine I had ever tasted in my life. At that moment the light bulb came on.....Â
That sparked a trigger for a taste that would last a life time. My favorite of all time was MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir Central Coast. From there I recall realizing that I had a preference for wines from the west coast. I tried a few French Pinot Noirs, HOB NOB being one of my first french favorites. From there I begin to embark upon a special taste depending on the region.Â
It wasnât until mid 2015 that I really begin to develop an interest. An interest to discover my palate and why I even like wine. What about it peaked my interest? Why did I become so consumed with the idea of a great dinner wine? These were just a few questions I asked myself during the journey. The first thought that came to mind was how therapeutic wine can be. Wine allows you to create your own therapy sessions. And to go even further depending on the region you can learn a lot about yourself when learning what you like as oppose to what someone recommends for you. Wine is a culture, a lifestyle, and it can be who you are. Wine is reading a book, doing homework, planning a business, furthering your education & etc. We are surrounded by wine and the greatness it has to offer. Â
So here we are in 2018 and Iâve decided to expand on my knowledge to wine and have developed a passion and purpose as it relates to wine. My ultimate goal is to create an atmosphere and my own wine for family and friends to join this journey with me! Itâs a life style! On my 38th birthday I decided my wine line would be called âChapter38wineâ because it sparked the beginning of a new process! Itâs a chapter of my life that explains my past....
Join my progress and travel the process with me as I create chapter38wine !
