Khalil: I'm guessing making your own coffee is out of the question?
Charlotte: I have a keurig in my classroom, but by the time I need that refill I'm usually covered in watercolors or markers and chasing first graders around trying to get them to stop marking on the designated wall.
Charlotte: Or I've accidentally used my mug to wash the paintbrushes in again. That happens about once a week.

Roz: Why a panic and a rush? Coffee is meant to be savored and enjoyed.
Charlotte: So just across the park from mine, then :)
Charlotte: If I had any time to savor and enjoy it, I would. Instead, I inhale and devour it - usually several times a day.

Britt: what keeps you busy?
Charlotte: School, mostly. I teach art to k-8th at a private school uptown, and do private lessons with 9-12th graders there too. And then I try to do my own work on the weekends. Or travel. Whenever we get a long weekend, I'm usually at JFK within hours of school letting out with a plane ticket in hand.

Elise: i did have a hermit crab for a bit when i was a kid but then my mom told me he ran away to go back to the ocean :(

Charlotte: Did he actually run away or did your mom accidentally kill it? My younger sister killed my goldfish. She tried to give it a bubble bath.

Charlotte: Art at a private school uptown. I focus mostly on the younger grades - k-8th, but I do some private work with the upper school girls who've been there with me for years too.
Charlotte: If you don't wake up with your kneecaps, that's definitely not me. If I had connections to the mob, my favorite coffee places wouldn't keep dying.

Charlotte: To be fair, I don't know if they were listening. But with 8 children, at least a few of us had to be gay, right? I think they knew the odds weren't in their favor for anything less.

Roz: when i'm in that part of the city my go to is irving farms since their space is huge and i can always always find a table or chair to claim for a little while and chill.
Roz: they've also got a great menu, lots of baked goods, but my usual order is cold brew and a bagel.
Charlotte: I'm not too worried about space - I'm getting it to go, usually in a panic and a rush - but I like a good bagel on my way too.
Charlotte: What part of the city are you usually in?

ben: but, nah. i'm not a big coffee drinker but when i do drink it, i usually go for DD and usually in Brooklyn. heard Stumptown Coffee Roasters is good, though.
Charlotte: That's probably easier than it should be.
Charlotte: Stumptown Coffee Roasters. I'll add them to my list of things to try.
Charlotte: I'll go anywhere for good coffee - or just coffee in general, if it gets really bad - but I might have to suffer and start making my own at this rate. Everyone's top suggestions are in Brooklyn.

Khalil: But if you really wanna avoid big coffee names, Ole & Steen smacks. It's not near where you're looking though.
Charlotte: Damn. I'll keep it in mind for a day off, but I really need something on my way. I can't be late for work, and I absolutely can not drink the swill they have in the teachers lounge because it's worse than sewer water.

Charlotte: I haven't but I am always up for donuts first thing in the morning. Just don't tell the students - some of those girls are so food conscious I feel like shoving sugar down their throats.
Charlotte: Yes! I'd totally be up for that - this is the second of my favorite joints that's been shut down because of the mob and I'm getting tired of it. I thought they were supposed to be successful, not destroying good coffee.

Atlas: there's a food truck that usually hangs out around the park near UES that has pretty good coffee. but honestly, like most things around here, the best coffee is in brooklyn.
Charlotte: I can do a food truck. Brooklyn is outta the way, though, just a tad. Maybe on a Saturday adventure, but I barely have the time to go from the LES to the UES.
