Summer Giveaway

Well, the last giveaway was back in January, so I think it's time for another one.

The rules haven't really changed, but my workflow certainly has. Since then, I've added quite a few new tools to my VP and editing process, so the quality (and the possibilities) have grown along with them.

Romance chart: Valen as a companion

Valen lost his husband almost three centuries ago, when he became a vampire, and since then has had very little desire to enter another romantic relationship. He has had sexual partners, but nothing that he has allowed to bloom into any sort of deeper connection. When he does love someone, he is incredibly loyal, protective and devoted to to them in ways that may come across as possessive and dominant. He is confident in himself, particularly since he is highly intelligent yet he has the tendency to let jealousy overrule and make impulsive decisions as a result of lack of rationale.

His ideal partner would embody the qualities that his late husband, Dorian, had. Someone who is passionate and romantic yet doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Ambition and discipline are also qualities he values highly. As a former noble, he tends to enjoy the finer things when it comes to gifts and dates but that’s definitely not the only way to his heart. Despite not always being great with showing love and appreciation through words, he’s highly affectionate and thoughtful with the things he does. From the outside, people might perceive him as aloof and stoic, but really his love is very rich and has a warm depth that only his partner has the pleasure of feeling.

His song is Insomniac by Amber Run. As Valen is an integral part of my canon story for Astarion, the lyrics of this song embodies Astarion’s perception of Valen extremely well.

The flower I chose for him is the Belladonna. Beautiful yet dark, defensive and dangerous.

Elowynne, by nature, is extremely lovable. She is the kind to open her heart to most, however tends to keep those that make romantic advances at arms length out of uncertainty. Though, after escaping a relationship that was less than kind to her, she would dream of having someone that returned the passion and love that she was desperate to give. For the right person, her love is incredibly warm, soft, and given with utter devotion. She always strives to help her partner grow into the best version of themselves, and hopes to grow with them. Her past experiences have unfortunately tarnished and skewed her perception of romantic relationships and she is generally very anxiously attached, can get easily jealous with any perceived threat, and can overthink every interaction.

Romantically, she’s easy to please. Words of affirmation and physical touch are the way into her heart, since they satisfy the desire to be loved softly. She’s not very materialistic but will always cherish anything that’s given to her by a partner, and enjoys giving handmade gifts made with a lot of thought. Dates don’t have to be elaborate, she’s more than content with anything intimate in nature, and with something that shows how much her partner knows her. She values effort over extravagance. In terms of her sexuality, her sexual attraction grows with the connection to the person. It’s extremely important to her to find someone patient and who wants to be with her for who she is and not what she can give them sexually. Non sexual intimacy is high on her priority list, and to be able to enjoy and express it without the expectation that it will always lead to more.

Her ideal partner is ultimately someone she feels safe with and truly loved by. Her past partner was far over the other side of the spectrum of what she desired by the end of their relationship. Dominance is a complex quality which she still desires even after her relationship with someone who was dominant in an oppressive way. She has a deep desire to feel safe at the hands of someone else, whether that’s sexual or in general. She also values kindness, romance and a good sense of humour a great deal.

Ultimately, to have someone that she can share deep moments of connection with yet be silly and carefree with whilst having security is her goal.

Her song is High Water by Sleep Token, which I feel captures her deep longing for love and her complicated relationship with faith.

The second song which I couldn’t resist putting here too (luckily from the same album) is her’s and Astarion’s song which is Telomeres by Sleep Token, encapsulating their new found love and always finding their way back to each other.

As for the flower, there are many things Lily of the Valley are said to represent. Happiness, love, purity, and motherhood are those which I think represent Elowynne very well 💚

While the Butler is a super fun and spooky visualization for the urges your Dark Urge faces, I always loved the idea of them manifesting as the past version of you.

Imagine the potential of the same-self trial in Shar’s Guantlet. Or even if after certain events in the Temple of Bhaal, having to face and destroy that part of you once’s it’s been torn out of your blood.

Visera of course would never stab her wizard. She prefers him fully intact, human, and not blown up alongside a netherbrain.

Here’s my piece for the @bg3-fate-spins-along Tarot event! 🔮

Elowynne is on a desperate journey to heal and grow from her past of complex trauma, betrayal,and grief.

The upright of the card symbolises pain and heartbreak, and depicts the vulnerable state of her past self having escaped the torment and abuse she endured, leaving her lost and broken.

This turning point of her life had brought her a profound sense of having lost herself, and hopelessness for the future.

The reverse symbolises healing and emotional release, and depicts Elowynne’s present self holding onto her past self in the effort to heal her heart and overcome past pain.

Whilst the reverse of the card also symbolises moving on, her present self finds it hard to let go.

This piece was such a challenge but I’m proud that I managed to produce something so close to what I had in my head 🥹 Everyone else’s pieces I’ve seen so far have been lovely 🫶

Overall, winning Yara over isn’t easy, but your odds are much better if you’re a woman or non-binary, since she’s pretty cautious (to put it mildly) around men. Also, the "ideal partner" section doesn't mean her love interest has to check every single box. After all, she ended up with Astarion, so feel free to throw all of the above out the window if her LI is lucky enough to be the exception to every rule.

Romance Chart: Imara as a companion

At first glance, Imara would seem pretty easy to romance. She appreciates gestures of love from all of the love language categories, she can enjoy almost any date, and she will like pretty much any type of gift. She's faithful, patient, giving, passionate and fun, and she loves to make her partner happy.

But Imara is a Bhaalspawn, created and raised to eradicate all life. She's never had a serious relationship. She doesn't trust easily, is not particularly driven to find love - much as she desperately wants it, it's not something she feels she should have - and her desire to care for and anticipate the needs of her partner can easily lead her to make decisions for them she has no business making. She's prone to being a workaholic, her confidence can cross over into arrogance, and she can get so caught up in planning for the bigger picture she fails to see the details. She also comes part and parcel with an extremely attached archfey for a best friend - who has a penchant for popping in to ruin romantic moments - and a familiar who is as opinionated as he is adorable - and who will only begrudgingly relinquish his sleeping spot above her head to let her partner have private time with her.

Her love aura is warm, sensual, and devoted. When she's in love, her partner is her number one priority. She will do everything in her power to ensure their happiness, and in bed she will pleasure her partner until they can take no more, deriving her own pleasure as much from the giving as receiving it for herself. Intimacy is paramount for her, and for her, nonsexual intimacy is even more important than sexual. For as sexual as she is, she needs to be able to laugh with her partner more.
