Decided to count the number of leads based on if its a boy or a girl in both Disney animation (theatrical productions and not Toon studio sans Ducktales)and pixar, and anyone saying that there arecmore girl Characters in Disney animation as leads missed things.
For girls total as leads (ie they are the main protagonist that we follow)
35 (thats including Billy from Hex as of now, if we include love interests/ siblings-parents-kids/ friends as co protags that would be 57 in total)
For boys total as leads its:
85 (if we include the above it becomes 108 in total)
One of the Big things about Brave when it came out was that it was the first female led Pixar film and you know what, Pixar still has LESS female leads than disney animation.
Girls for leads are only 7. (Add in the above specifications and its 23)
Boys come in at 18 (same as above you get 29)
So talk of how its mostly girls is not correct as a vast majority of Disney products are, and have been, based around male leads.

The first trailer and poster for Walt Disney Animation Studios "Hexed" have poofed into existence! The original story, a magical coming-of-age adventure. The film is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 65th animated feature and will arrive in theaters on November 25.
Joining previously announced voice cast members Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones . Seven-time Emmy Award winner Tracey Ullman (The Tracey Ullman Show, Tracey Takes On…, Bullets Over Broadway, Robin Hood: Men in Tights), who voices the enchanted feather quill pen Ms. Quill, and Stephen Fry (The Interrogator, The Hobbit trilogy, Gosford Park, Jeeves and Wooster, V for Vendetta) as the magical journal Elias Quire.
"Hexed" introduces the impulsive and unconventional teenage girl Billie (Steinfeld) and her cautious mother Alice (Jones). When Billie accidentally unleashes secret magical abilities, she’s hurtled out of suburbia and into a magical realm called Hexe, where she’s greeted by Ms. Quill (Ullman) and Elias Quire (Fry). How do I temporarily remove the software in my brain that makes consuming literally any sort of media with romance in it very difficult because after consumption of said media approximately 0.002 yoctoseconds later I have a bunch of drafts and blueprints of that specific relationship but it’s all been Sonadow-fied. Quick and easy solutions would be appreciated I need to lock in
That being said how do we feel about a sonadow au but it’s actually Tangled and Sonic is Flynn and Shadow is Rapunzel except instead of the magic hair or whatever he has like….plant powers???? Idk I think that would be really fucking funny
But yeah ig I can’t enjoy even simple disney movies without going “but what if it was….sonadow? 😏”

Alrightttttt let’s see…..sonadow Tangled au is being worked on right now. Our top priorities though are the sonadow Lion King au and the sonadow Wall-E au if we could get Squads A and C on those ASAP. Squad B I see you’re still busy working on sonadow Beauty and the Beast au so don’t ask him, I’m gonna need you to update me after the briefing. If we have the time we can start gathering evidence for the sonadow Elemental au. Those are all the cases for today, but before we wrap up I did want to let all of you know that the cold case room is off limits for the foreseeable future because we have the new department team looking into that big sonadow Once Upon a Time au.
