Reading Blood of Elves, and seeing the way Geralt is absolutely feral over Yennefer, makes me so sad and so angry that S2 opted to turn that same protectiveness AGAINST Yennefer instead.
Like, we truly could have had it all, huh?
If anyone wants to know, I’m thinking specifically of his encounter with Rience where, after Rience threatens to kill Yennefer, Geralt gets so blinded by anger, he tells him that he had a chance to live before he said that, but now that he’s said it, he has no intention of letting him live. And then proceeds to kill everyone around him in total blind fury, with a constant reminder that he’s incredibly angry, to the point he doesn’t even care about his own injuries.
As much as I love that the show!Geralt is softer in some ways, and less of a ho than the books, sometimes book!Geralt is more romantic towards Yennefer, and it makes me sad. I am not even sure if S3 can ever replicate any of that at this point given what they did in S2.
And now I’m sad about yet another Yenralt thing they’ve stolen from us and that we’ll never get to see. :(
