Hello! My name is Charlie and this is my blog! I’m 22 and British and my pronouns are she/her and sometimes they if I’m feeling it. I love music, reading and tv and film.

My main interests at the minute are Star Trek, Formula 1 and Sherlock Holmes so that’s what I’ll be posting the most about but I also like Doctor Who, horror movies and comic books too!

I support Ferrari (unfortunately) and my favourite Star Trek shows are Enterprise and TOS!

I don’t bite (unless asked politely) so if you wanna chat about anything come say hi I’d love to make some friends :)

This is your reminder today that Irene Adler in the original Conan Doyle story is literally not a criminal. She never commits a crime.

Nor is she a seductress in any kind of negative or manipulative sense - she has a mutual relationship with a powerful man who then breaks up with her, and afterwards she keeps protection against him in the form of evidence that the relationship existed. She HAS blackmail material, she even waves it at him threateningly because he treated her like shit, but she never even uses it.

Irene Adler is not a thief, femme fatale, or blackmailer. She's just a cool lady that wants to be left alone.

If your Sherlock Holmes adaptation has a character whose identifying qualities are that she is a seductive criminal in love with Holmes, you have created a character that is basically the literal opposite of Irene Adler and you should name her something else.

She's also -- and I cannot stress this enough -- from New Jersey. IMO this is the single most important detail missing from all the adaptations -- IRENE ADLER IS FROM NEW JERSEY.

Please just once in my life I would like to see this adapted faithfully it would be the funniest fucking thing ever.

Irene Adler in the actual books: a successful opera singer who once dated a king, and kept a photo of them together and his love letters so that if he ever tried to ruin her life in the future she could have some security against him, literally commits no crimes at all and in fact is a victim of a crime (Holmes literally breaks into her house with the intent to steal from her), never uses her blackmail material because all she wants is to marry her new (much nicer) boyfriend and go off and sing in the opera and live her fabulous life with her loving husband

harbinger enterprise is a crazy episode bc wdym they have two parallel storylines where one person gets crazy insane jealous of something their partner has: namely, the ability to correctly perform masculinity (malcolm) or fuck someone else (t'pol). then the straightbait couple stare deep into each others eyes while trying to give one another asmr and fuck for the very first real time in three looong seasons and within minutes of that happening the two dudes with weird sexual beef check each other out in the mirrors and start beating the living shit out of each other all over the enterprise. very normal one theyre having in the expanse.
