Wyatt: We're all talented actually. Derick can play a mean guitar as well and have you ever heard Allie sing? We have back up plans. Think the law thing really was just for Derick, it's his passion.

Wyatt: I prefer Chopped.

Charlie: Anyone who is able to stop you from drinking deserves to have as bloated of an ego as they want. Convey my congrats to him. Is it still better than Charleston though?

Charlie: Too much talent in your family. Save some for the rest of us. What's your back up plan? Music or law?

Charlie: I tried but I couldn't get into it. I like the competition and the whole connection to contestants. That's what commercial television is supposed to do right? Make me feel like I'm connected to those people? Well it's succeeding.

“That movie was a secret curse. She said she needs blue-ombre pieces but I told her good luck with that since it was Fall but she makes the rules. So right now I’m really hoping that you don’t have anything like that so that I can go back and say I told you so to her face.” 

“Well I’m really glad to oblige since I haven’t made anything ombre in the longest time. Most of my fall collection is solid colors or big florals. Or leather. Nothing ombre. So you can proudly go back and say you told her so. But I have some inventory left from summer that might have what you’re looking for.”

Wyatt: That it is. No, I am cooling down on the drinking. Jack doesn't let me have any beers. Told me if I plan on dying that I can see myself out the bar.

Wyatt: My father is actually an excellent cook but a firm believer that the female's place is in the kitchen, it's their heaven and since my mother passed he hasn't been there. Derick actually was taught by our mother so he is damn good too. We're just lazy at times. But who isn't right?

Charlie: Well Jack wins best Samaritan of the year. Props to him. I'm glad to hear you're not drinking anymore.

Charlie: So what you're saying is that the entire Carmichael family is full of pro chefs? If this law things doesn't work out, Master Chef might be a great place to go. I started watching more TV and I'm addicted to that show.

Wyatt: I am enjoying the nachos and soda that I have instead of popcorn. Hey we should be thankful that I was able to locate them.

Wyatt: Allie is always cooking for the family. I tend to show up for dinner and put up with my father because she wants to keep the family dinner tradition alive.

Charlie: That's called excelling in life right there. Popcorn is just barely getting by. The important question is have you gotten them drunk yet?

Charlie: Does that mean your father and Derick don't know how to cook? The takeout people of Charleston must love you and Allie right now.

Charlie, 

Talking and letters have never been my forte – singing has been though but I haven’t done that since high school. Well undergrad – but that is not the point here. I am leaving and I don’t know when I am coming back – or if I am going to come back. There is a lot more that I want to say but there has never been the time for us has there? Like I want to sit here and say that everything I want to say has been said but I don’t know how to do that. I am sorry for yelling at you and for making you make a choice. What you decide to do with your life is up to you and it was not my place to try and change your mind. This entire time – well not entire but I told Lexa and others I had cancer and it was all about them. Everyone wanting me to live for them. To fight cause they thought they know what I want and it’s not their fault that their idiots. I just – I became them. I realized that cause I told you how to act and got mad the moment you didn’t and I apologize for that. And I do miss you. I have missed you Charlie – it has not been easy for me and I should’ve not acted the way that I did when you came back and well now it is too late cause I’m leaving and dying so it just sucks – timing has never been our thing but I wouldn’t change it. Thank you for giving me the best last months though – I am being honest when I say I wouldn’t change anything. I suppose this is short cause we never did bullshit each other did we? So why change it now.

Wyatt: The food is alright. Gotta say I miss Allie cooking for me though.

Charlie: Do you have popcorn while you watch them argue because otherwise you aren't doing the enlightenment thing right.

Charlie: Didn't you say you knew how to cook? Why were you making your baby sister cook for you?

Now that she was here, Ava was questioning whether this was in fact what she wanted to discuss. It wasn’t really a matter if needed, because it was. And usually the brunette wasn’t in the habit of avoiding things, choosing to face them on instead, but she’s been all out of wack lately. And the idea of just saying never mind and asking to borrow random things from Charlie’s closet was starting to seem more and more like what she wanted to do. It was the easier route after all but unfortunately this wasn’t something she had the freedom of ignoring even if Charlie could. 

“Wyatt.” 

Letting the familiar name hang in the air between them Ava was silent for a moment. Tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ears as she gathered her thoughts. “We need to talk about Wyatt.” She clarified, for the rare chance the sound of his name wasn’t answer enough. Ava had ignored it for as long as she could. Gracefully turning a blind eye as the one she watched over in high school developed a connection with the one she fell for in high school. It was none of her business and honestly the details was certainly something she didn’t need nor want to involve herself with.

But Wyatt was dying. And he refused Ava’s company let alone her care. And pretty soon she may not even have been here to care for him even if she wanted.

Whatever was going on between the two, as her last gift to Wyatt, she’d fix it.

It wasn’t like Charlie was the worst person to lose him too. She was beautiful, intelligent, and she wouldn’t take any of his shit. Wouldn’t be afraid to put him in his place like Wyatt so often needed someone to, if Ava had to “lose” him to someone, it was at least to someone worthy. 

Charlie watched for a few minutes as the silence hung between them. Truth be told, the woman had no idea what Ava had wanted to talk to her about but as soon as the name was uttered, it was as though she had been hit over the head. It no longer made sense to her how only a second ago she could have been so clueless as to what Ava might have wanted to talk about. Of course it would be about Wyatt—especially since she was being so serious. Maybe it was a topic of discussion that had to happen eventually even if Charlie assumed that it wasn’t necessary. They were friends and this seemed like an appropriate discussion that was inevitable. What was there to talk about though? “Okay. What about Wyatt?”

That was the question wasn’t it. Because what was it about Wyatt that they had to talk about. If things had been different, there may have been more to talk about. But the way the chips had fallen, there was very little left. Whatever they were or could have been had ended even before it started, so what more was there to talk about. They had a civil conversation for the first time in months and that too she felt as though she had to walk on pins and needles. Like it wouldn’t last if she said the wrong thing and they would be right back to fighting. So really, what did they have left to talk about Wyatt, since even if there had been something to begin with, there was nothing left now.

The dress was beautiful and Camille didn’t really need that much of a push to feel the need to keep it all to herself. She was, after all, her mother’s daughter and, although she did held other things in higher esteem, fashion was easily one of her weaknesses. After all, it, too, was art. “I fell for that green one online but this one.” Camille smoothed the fabric that fell on her lap. “I’ll take it. There’s no way I’m going to pass the opportunity. I’m so glad you finally reopened the store. It’s certainly better to browse in person than online!”

Charlie nodded, glad that she was getting a positive response to her new attempts. The time off of the business had actually given her a different direction to go, some inspiration to try something new rather than getting bogged down by the logistics of just working the business angle of things. Which was why she had decided to sit down and just make a line of dresses, instead of focusing only on casual wear. “I’m glad you like it.” She commented, smiling at the way it looked on the blonde. She had the perfect proportions to pull off dresses of this nature and it looked as though it had been tailored for her specifically. “Me too. I love seeing everyone coming in and saying that they saw something online and want to try it on. The personal touch makes all the difference.”

“You know what,” he grinned, “Sod it. I’m five thousant miles away, she can’t give me too much of a bollocking if I get it wrong.” He ran his hands over the scarves on the table, trying to get a feel dor which option would be best…or ‘least bad’. “Let’s go for the black cardigan” he sighed, returning his attention to the range of fabrics in front of him. “She’s a size 8…I think…but sizes are different here aren’t they? I’m guessing you know what’ll be right.” Matthew pulled two scarves from the pile - one cerise, one turquiose, careful keep the others neatly folded. “Ok. Which of these would you wear?”

The ginger laughed at his words, having heard that type of resignation many times in the past. Screw it, it’s the thought that counts, just give me anything, only some of the variations of the very same sentiment. But she was confident that what she had picked out would end up working well with the woman’s tastes, or at least be enough to please her. It wasn’t too flashy or too gaudy, being simple enough that anyone could wear it whether they liked bright colors and vibrant designs or if they preferred more neutral tones. “Yeah I’ll get you the right size.” She said, going through the racks to find the size he had given her briefly looking up at his questions. “The red one for sure.” But she had always been a sucker for that color.

At first his glance was nothing more than that, hardly even recognizing the redhead. But when he heard her voice, he cocked his head back again to take a second look. “Oh, hey, Charlie,” he attempted to grin, not wanting to bother her with his pessimistic attitude at the moment. “Don’t worry about it,” he shook his head, beckoning for her to come and sit, “—You can sit if you want. Unless you want to be alone,” he shrugged, shooting her an understanding look. After all, that was the same reason why he was here, but he always had a problem with being rude —especially if it was only because of his own inner turmoil. 

When he turned, Charlie recognized Owen and gave him a small smile. “Hey. Nice to run into you again.” It was a nice place and she assumed that he wouldn’t be the type to make too much noise. She had come to be alone, but the company didn’t bother her. “Thanks.” A few steps forward, the redhead got herself up on the ledge of the small platform. She had never had the courage to actually go to the edge and sit there, always fearing falling off. Which was why the little electrical box was the best seat for her. “No it’s alright. I don’t mind others being here. It’s a public place.”

“I am really starting to think that your boss has watched too much Devil Wears Prada and forgot common courtesy and decency. Who calls an employee a bitch? So unprofessional. Okay so what does she want you to pick? Let’s see if we can get the styling out of the way so we can at least do the shopping part too.”

“That is very true indeed. However, I’m pretty sure there aren’t a lot of jobs that allow you to do that, so… No drinking at work is generally a rule. I think that’s workable. … Yea, that seems to make the most sense.”

“It’s unfortunate but also very practical. He does a great job of talking and making sense while drunk though. I really wonder if he actually gets drunk or if it’s just an act. I want to say there’s no man behind the curtain but I fear there is. You’re right—that definitely makes the most sense. I guess my question has finally been answered. Thank you.”
