Granting her fingertips access to his facial structures, she took her time to admire him before his eyes met hers again. She graciously took the bag from him. “Does that mean I can try it on for you?” Excitement bubbled up in the form of a ticklish giggle at his nose running over hers. Instantly, she nuzzled him back with full-on affection. “Better now.” Af glowed in his presence, making it known that there was always boundless happiness when he was around. “I missed you.” It was quieter, her free hand moving to his curls for a moment. “So, don’t hate me…. but I kinda went a little overboard.” The brunette started sheepishly, wanting to warn him before letting him in. “Like, I made your favorite meal, candles and flowers type of deal - whole nine yards.” Her words went quicker as her face warmed to more she went. “God, it’s so cliche….” She almost cringed, but wound up just shaking her head with a weak smile.

her smile was contagious, they were both grinning like what could only be described as two people in love. “i don’t know if i can let you go for that long” charlie moved his free hand to her ass, squeezing her for emphasis. “i missed you” he replied chuckling at the memory of his fellow emts somehow knowing he had somewhere else he wanted to be, and automatically asking about the brunette in front of him now. “i don’t think it’s physically possible to hate you” he smirked glancing at the door suddenly curious of what she had in store. “i blame myself, i shouldn’t have left you to your own devices the day before valentines day.” charlie joked pressing feather light kisses along her cheek bone. “let’s get inside i’m starving” he half growled, offering her the roses he still had in hand so he could open the door. he placed his duffel bag by the door and when he looked up surprise covered his giddy features. “you’re joking” he looked at af as the smell wafting from the kitchen pulled him further into the room. he was silent only because of the many thoughts going through his head, how he could be so lucky, how hungry he actually was after a long shift, how he didn’t deserve this and most prominently how much he loved afredita darr.

She never tried. It all hit her as soon as her eyes caught the heaping amount of bags from high-end brands that loitered what was supposed to be her loveseat. Of course they were all for him. Every. Single. One. The effort was shown in the form of candlelight and flowers, down to the dress that was meant to be taken off that clung to her curves in just the right way. It was as she was turning the stove off that the knock echoed throughout her ribcage. Opening the door, she slipped out so that he couldn’t get a peek inside just yet. Her hands met his hair as her lips locked his into a gentle kiss. Af sighed into it, letting the sensation rip her from her bones so she could find sanctuary in his skin. It caused her to relax into the door, pulling him close. Her lips tugged upward, breaking their lip lock so that her eyes can taking in her features. “Hmm, what’s this?” She smirked, pressing her forehead to his as one of her fingers hooked onto the bag in his hand.

charlie’s eyes dilated at the sight of his girlfriend his hands eager to feel every slope of her body over and under her dress but the gifts in hand were in the way. he hooked an arm around her to pull her close as their lips met. moaning in distaste as she pulled away, his eyes stayed closed for a prolonged second memorizing how she felt and smelled like a dream before opening them. “just a little something for my valentine” he smiled nuzzling his nose against hers as he released the weight of the bag into her hands so he could finally touch her cheek and jaw softly as he worshiped her. “how are you beautiful?” he hummed still holding her close between his chest and the door.

carter was the target of plenty of teasing as he got off from a shift, he was obviously giddy about spending valentine’s day with his girl and physically couldn’t hide it. his coworkers whooped as he pulled roses from his locker along with a bag from la perla, after changing into his civilian clothes. he brushed off their jokes barely saying goodbye before darting out the door with his duffel and gifts in hand. charlie knocked on her door just as the sun began to rise an excited chuckle escaping him at what was on the other side waiting for him.

Her eyes rolled, a grin accompanying her shake of her head at the male. “You’re relentless, and I don’t know how I put up with it.” It was playful, though a gasp was ripped from her vocal chords the second his lips met her neck. “Not as good as you’d look on me..” It was quickly countered, her timbre adopting his. Af’s lips started to work on his neck as he spoke, taking on the job of persuading him as if he wasn’t already convinced. “Oh, thank God.” She mused, her smile growing at his pecks but turning into a whine when he pulled away. “Try me.” It was a growl, her lips meeting his again in an esurient manner as her hands found his curls.

“i always make it worth your while?” he reminded softly against her throat. “you can have both” charlie’s words slowed slightly as she returned the favor, extending his neck to give her more real estate. charlie chuckled at her gratitude as their bedroom door swung before them. he only nodded at her challenge his lips already against hers before any verbal reply could escape him. before placing af on the bed charlie made sure to pull her pajama shorts over her butt so he could remove them with one swift tug, not about to waste his ten minutes on disrobing.

She shook her head at him in a way that stated he didn’t have to worry about that. “You hold the best parts of me.” It was delicate in deliverance, truth reigning throughout. Af was quick to put on a mask, especially around new people. But that was before him. Before she felt what it was like to be comfortable in her own skin and to be loved for it. With him there, he grounded her in who she was. “Why did you fall for me?” Her eyes filled with a childlike curiosity. She nodded at his words, finally agreeing, because he had a point. If his parents saw how happy she made him, they would instantly like her for her effect on him. A grin formed as his lips met her face. A complying giggle vibrated from her throat when she leant into his kisses, cherishing the contact. Her eyes searched his within his defense. He always held a sort of passion in his eyes when he spoke of her, and witnessing it never failed to make her melt. “You say that like I had a choice….” Af smiled softly in admittance, “I met you, and I didn’t stand a chance…” Usually, she’d run at a time like this, but she wouldn’t even think of doing it now. Her face faltering at his words as her heart beat started to run at double time. “Charlie..” She whispered, moving one of her hands to his face to slowly trail over his jaw in admiration. Her eyes followed her hand, praising him - worshipping - him. She softened into his frame some more, her forehead meeting his in a shared disarming affection. The urge to kiss him burned in her mind, but she couldn’t. Knowing if she did, she wouldn’t be able to control herself enough to stop. “Charlie Carter, I am completely and utterly yours…”

charlie was grinning at her words “and i can’t wait for them to see that” he brushed her hair behind her ear to expose more of her beautiful features. “i wouldn’t know how to explain it, i think we caught each other off guard. you had this attitude, which was interesting don’t get me wrong, i like a confident woman, but when i looked in your eyes there was something so genuine and a little curious. every time i got a glimpse of that side of you i wasn’t disappointed and i wanted to see so much more. i think that’s why i fell for you.” he articulated the best he could playing with her fingers as he tried to find the words. the sound of her giggle so close to his ear has his lips turning upward against her skin. “you had a choice it just would’ve been the wrong one.” he joked squeezing her closer into his side. charlie couldn’t tell if his cheeks were warm due to the cold or her touch as it softly trailed over his jaw. he tilted his head so her eyes would land on his, greedy for her chocolate gaze. as their foreheads touched he let out a chuckle, a small outburst of the joy he was holding inside. “i think i could get used to that.” he was about to kiss her when the car finally stopped and the driver asked if they needed help with luggage. they could probably sense the raw passion in their back seat and didn’t want things to escalate any further.

“Know. You know it can.” It was a quick correction, mostly her just wanting to toy with him a bit. Gaiety sprawled throughout her features, “I-” Af could so easily state how her words were used to wave away the saying, but she just stuck to a nod. She didn’t feel like a fire-starter today. An electric current plagued her veins, making the brunette tilt her head to deepen the kiss as a smile plastered into his. Purposely, she cut the kiss short. The light being green, she hadn’t even noticed if it had been the bright color for a while or not. “You’re lucky the road isn’t busy….” She mentioned, trying to swallow down the pink of her cheeks.

charlie could only shake his head and smile fondly at her as she corrected his reply “i look forward to it” he murmured before the kiss. as she deepened the kiss his hand wandered to her neck which he knew affected her. his lips were hesitant to let go, resulting on a slight pull when she tried to focus on the road again. “the luckiest” he hummed kissing her cheek before sitting back in his chair and putting on his seat belt, more so to keep himself from doing that at every red light than any safety reasons. “so ice skating.”

Hearing him repeat her only elevated her happiness to a new plane. Af bit the inside of her cheek as his height put space between them, not wanting a whine to spill from her lips. The brunette rolled her eyes with a smile, “You have to say that. You’re the daddy.” She teased the title, her brows raising in playful innocence. It was hard for her to hide it, though she practically lived in his clothing until she had to dress more modestly in black to various parties. A beam came to her face as she watched his features glow, her hands cupping his face gently, “Really, really?” The brown of her irises softened as she admired him for a moment, her lips catching his before he could really pull away. “B-baby..” One of her hands quickly grasped his wrist as a tiny whine ripped out of her due to the sensation of his hand on her skin. “Yes, that…” Her forehead hit his shoulder as she pressed into him, wanting more contact along her skin. “W-what?” She stammered, her cheeks glowing red. In a sense, she was caught, but she went a different route, “I’m just baby crazy right now because of the hormones….” Af tried, her face turning into a slight pout of the apologetic variety. Their steps synced instantly as he guided her into their room, a smile coming back to her face. “I don’t think I’ll ever top it. And I’m okay with that.” Her response was a sudden nod, cuddling into his neck some more with the touch of his hand in her hair. “Of course. Do you think the baby will be a boy or girl?”

charlie beamed at being called daddy but shook his head “my bias doesn’t make it any less true. you’re happy and pregnant and my already gorgeous wife, there’s no better combination.” he mused his eyes creasing at the sides from how happy he was. charlie’s cheeks were warm compared to her hands that cupped them “yeah, and mckenna can try some of your cooked sushi.” he added before returning her kiss eagerly. af’s hand on his wrist had him pause with a chuckle “do you want me to stop?” he mumbled into her hair as she sank into him, while lightly stroking his thumb across her smooth skin. he laughed as she stammered, placing a kiss on the crown of her head. “let’s take this one at a time, eh?” he smiled to show there was nothing to be apologetic about, and ran his other thumb along her pouting bottom lip before replacing it with his own lips. “i don’t know, as much as i love my girls, i think it’d be nice to even out the playing field and have a little man around the house.”

The brunette was used to her husband’s decoding eyes, simultaneously putting on her face of purity that glinted in her eyes. He wasn’t getting anything from her, this time. “It’s a surprise, Baby.” Af stated, a smile across her lips to encourage him to just focus on the card. The time it took him to read the letter was only a couple seconds, though to her it was years. She couldn’t pinpoint why it was that her stomach was up in knots, but disregarded it as excitement. Her nodding started as soon as his smile became apparent. “We’re expecting.” She quietly finished his thought, validating the reality of it all for him. With his arms around her, she relaxed into him. “I love you too-O.” Af gently squeaked, the sensation of his lips on her neck making her body want to giggle but the touch of his hand catching her in a limbo. Her skin easily adapted, the experience of being touched enough to make her purr in the back of her throat, her forehead meeting his shoulder. “I’m ten weeks. I’ve known for six. I’ve been to the doctor twice now, and she says it’s going well. I just can’t eat sushi but I’ve been oddly craving it, so Dr. Deb says that if I eat cooked sushi in the smallest portions then it’s fine but to stick to the salmon.” Af sharply took in air, “Fuck… that feels so nice….” The whimper came out hushed, the sensitivity of her skin basking under his palm. “It was killing me trying to hide it. I swear I’m telling you right when I know next time, I just… I thought it would be cute to tell you now. My next appointment is next week, and I’d love for you to come.” She nuzzled into his neck, urging him to continue with his hands.

“we’re expecting” he repeated as it sank in. the card was discarded in the pile of existing mail so he could focus his touch on her. her squeak made him grin and leave one more kiss there before returning to his upright position to see the beginnings of a baby bump. “you look really cute” he mused already imagining a few months down the line when she’ll be waddling and unable to put on her own shoes. charlie was amazed he didn’t catch it before, all the holiday parties she didn’t drink at, it should’ve been obvious. he smiled at her sushi ramblings nodding along blissfully “we can go get sushi tomorrow.” he promised kissing her cheek. at her sudden inhale he raised his eyebrows “what? this?” he asked repeating the movement, his hand taking up a large portion of her belly. he chuckled at her next words “as much as i appreciate that, you’re already thinking about a third? oh it was very cute, i just don’t know how you’ll top it next year” he hummed casually backing her into the bedroom. “wouldn’t miss it for the world, will there be an ultrasound?” excitement shined in his eyes as he asked using the hand that wasn’t holding her belly to caress her hair as she disappeared into his neck.

His laughter caused her heart to skip a beat, warming the edges of her demeanor in a heartfelt smile. “Bet my mouth can make you feel more than nice, later.” It was a switch stuck in the ‘on’ position. Charlie’s next words shocked her, though she didn’t show it, “Thank God I’d never ask that of you….” He was softening her, making the distance unbearable and her features unable to stop from radiating in his presence. Af took advantage of hitting a red light, her lips pecking his shoulder and cheek before she put the car in park to pull him into a slow kiss. 

charlie wasn’t expecting that response but he should’ve, this was af he was dealing with. “yeah i bet it can” wetting his lips, he tried to take his mind from the gutter. “it’s a figure of speech” he smiled finding her words adorable but he was also feeling seduced by her last statement, charlie was just a big ball of putty in her hands at this point. his hand when from her thigh to the gear shift cupping hers as the kiss lingered, using his right hand he held her cheek softly to somewhat lead the lip lock.

“Don’t say that.” Pink painted across the apples of her cheeks at his words in warning. Her hands instantly rubbed his shoulders to ease him even more before finishing her thought, “I won’t be able to stop.” Covet for his touch formed in her voice as she lingered longer than she should have. “Thank you.” The whisper rather sheepish as she took her hair up, her smile doubling into a smirk when her eyes caught his. “They’re not going to worry about where Mommy and Daddy are - they’re too caught up in their toys.” Af tried, her face faking an innocence, “Would it be so terrible if we disappeared for ten minutes, tops?” 

“that’s kinda the point” he chuckled sitting up to see the necklace clasp better. he wouldn’t be charlie if he didn’t take the opportunity to place kisses along her neck once the gift was secure there. “it looks good baby” he murmured returning to eye level. “hmmm, we can have the baby monitor on silent by the bed, if anything happens they’ll yell” he justified ready to stand with her in his arms. “i can do ten minutes” he nodded happily standing with a small noise of exertion before pecking her lips repeatedly until it was just one long kiss. “you’ll gotta be quiet, you think you can do that?” he teased

Kenna was finally asleep, and that’s what mattered. Though it was an overly exciting day for a baby, she still managed to be so wide awake during the nightly hours. “She’s out.” It was hushed, her arms snaking around his neck to pull him into a gentle kiss. “Now I can finally give you your present.” Af pulled away from him for a second, taking out an envelope and holding it out for him. “Merry Christmas.” She announced in a whisper that only they could hear, though the true announcement was in the card - the announcement about their second child who was on the way.

charlie was trying to stay awake despite having been up since the wee hours of the morning, he busied himself by looking through the mail. a lazy smile spread at his wife’s news, he turned to her and rested his hands at the small of her back. “finally” he whispered before returning her kiss and pouting when she pulled away. when she returned with an envelope his eyebrows furrowed “what’s this?” he wondered aloud opening it despite his eyes not leaving af’s, hoping for some kind of a tell. charlie slowly opened the card, his eyes falling to her familiar handwriting, his brows furrowed further as he re-read the card over. “af...” his smile was delayed but when it appeared it was a hundred watts. “are you-? we’re...” he chuckled loudly before remembering kenna in the other room and lowering his voice “oh my god i love you” he rushed to pull her into a hug, kissing her neck excitedly “and you, i love you” he grinned as he ran his hands under her shirt to expose her still relatively flat belly. “how far along? how long have you known? have you been to the doctor? what’d she say?” he rambled smoothing a warm hand over the best christmas gift he’s ever received.

She got a rise out of his eyes traveling her body. There was a newfound cockiness that she didn’t even try to hide as she looked at him once their lips parted. The overweening worsened when his body wound up in her car, “Hm? Me? Haven’t noticed.” Af shrugged one of her shoulders, a shit-eating grin plastered on her face. Being a more reckless driver, she tried to be more cautious when he was beside her; mostly for his sake. “That makes me feel like I need to hit on you more often.” She took his hand, placing a kiss to his fingers before resting it on her thigh. “Why does it scare you?” Her brown eyes looked over at him curiously, the overconfidence still oozing from her.

“yes you” he laughed his head casually falling back against the head rest at her coy act. when he looked back at her he knew he’d be miserable if she hadn’t shown up. “it definitely makes me feel nice” he tilted his head with a playful smile, a single curl falling on his forehead. charlie moved his hand up on her thigh before squeezing it warmly. “ ’cause i’d follow you off the end of the world if you just asked.” he answered nonchalantly looking back to the road.

His words worked, her glowing still in place before quietly commenting, “I’m lucky.” The sound he emitted caused her lips to move in a ravenous pace. Placing the box on the cushion she moved from, Af found herself in his lap with her fingers in his hair. It only lasted a few moments, her cheeks burning at the remembrance of their children in the next room. The guilt had the kissing slow to a stop. “Sorry, sorry…” She mustered against his lips, her forehead leaning on his apologetically as her heartbeat was still kicking. “Can you put it on me?” Excitement flashed before her eyes.

charlie submitted to her hungry kisses rather touch starved considering they hadn’t had sex in three or four days with all the christmas planning. he cupped her cheeks to pull her closer even as she rested her forehead against his, she never seemed close enough. “mm, never be sorry for that, ever” he smirked letting out a long exhale to calm himself. charlie nodded at her request taking the necklace from the box and holding it open as he waited for her to hold up her hair, happy to just sit there and watch her, though his eyes fell to her lips a fair amount.

“Hey!” Kenna’s voice made Af smile as she continued to get all the inclusions ready to put into the batter. “Dad, if you eat all the dough - how are we going to have any cookies?” The banter made Afredita’s smile turn to a grin, “She’s calling you out, Honey.” Her tone was soft, though her attention shifted to Teddy so she could help him pour the bag of chips in.

charlie sent a look to af “wonder where she gets it from” he replied bending over to place kiss on kenna’s temple “we make them real small so they can fit in your little hands” he explained taking a chocolate chip from the pile just poured in the bowl “right buddy?” he asked teddy, to which the curly haired boy agreed not really paying attention since he was focused on mixing the dough with his mom’s help.

His distaste was evident in his tone, and usually she’d shoot him a warning glare to not start and that it wasn’t what she meant. But, given the circumstances, her look was more begging. “It has everything to do with everything. I don’t get how you don’t see that your parents being your parents, makes this hard?” It wasn’t condescending, but more-so her mind trying to figure out what he wasn’t getting. “Everything that you are - everything that makes you you - all stems back to them. Yes, they’re human. But, they’re the humans who brought the most important person in my life, into this world.” If she wasn’t nervous about meeting them, she would’ve been nervous about what was coming out of her mouth. “I’m about to meet your parents. The person I’m…” Her eyes scanned his for a moment before she just said to hell with it and went for it, “The person I’m in love with’s parents. And I want them to adore me.” She played it off cool, like she didn’t just drop a bomb in the middle of their conversation. Love was a word she used rarely, but felt all the time with him. She gathered up the courage to claim love for him before, but never admitted to being in love with him until now. “Oh, a silver fox?” Af joked, thinking he was absolutely kidding about his father. The brunette leant into his touch, wanting more of it. She let out a chuckle, rolling her eyes at how corny he was but her smile was bright. “You know what I believe? That you’re a cheeseball…” There was nothing but admiration in her eyes as she brought the tip of her nose to his, obviously crazy about him even in the midst of her teasing. The girl giggled as he pulled her closer, “I wouldn’t dream of it.” Af froze for a moment, his words bringing her to look at his face as if she were trying to catch him in a lie. “Charlie, you don’t have to say that….” It was weaker, her voice almost cracking - quick to disregard the meaning of his words being truthful.

“do i want you to be on your best behavior? sure whatever, but not if you’re being anything other than yourself. i want them to see what i see and this may come as a shock but i didn’t fall for you because of your manners af.” he tried to explain. his drive to prove her wrong slowly dissipated when she said she was in love with him, a wave of joy crashing over him. “i adore you enough for all the carters. that alone will make you my parent’s favorite person in the world.” charlie scoffed at her joke “don’t ruin this moment by talking about my dad” he suggested kissing the corner of her lips then her cheek a few times. “i do believe in you” he defended “you’re strong and smart and i’m lucky you ever let me in.” at this point the driver was glancing at them through the rear view due to their almost unbelievable display of affection but charlie couldn’t care less. “you need to know” he pushed when she was quick to dismiss his praise “you need to know how happy you make me afredita darr.”

“Sorry to offend the cookie connoisseur, but what the fuck is a Keebler?” Af tilted her head to the side, the name making it seem as though Charlie was making it up. Her smile grew following his words, “Say the word and Operation: Hibernation, is a go.” It was playfully put, but there was truth laced between the words. Her attention returned to the present wrapping, now that she had a fresh roll of tape. She nearly jumped out of her skin at first, not even realizing her husband had moved behind her before her spine relaxed at his fingertips. It felt so good, she had to stop what she was doing for a moment in order to lean into his touch. “Baby,” Af started in a light purr, her hands finding his by resting on top of them, “Help me with this one. It’ll be easy. I’ll guide you.” She squeezed his hands, bringing them in front of her. Yes, she wanted to teach him, but ultimately her goal was to just have him up against her back. A certain crave for bonding taking over her system.

“the people who make the fudge stripes cookies. y’know the little elf in the commercials with the white hair.” he tried to explain not realizing it was an obscure reference. he shook his head as to dismiss the thought “nevermind.” he scoffed “i’ll take you up on that offer” he promised knowing it was overdue with their busy schedules. “yeah baby?” he asked, his hands coming to a stop when hers intervened. his brows furrowed but he obeyed, “mkay” he slid closer so his chest met her back and slouched so his chin was on her shoulder  “so do you not like the person this gift is for... or...?”

The brunette smirked at the challenge, leaning over the passenger seat to get closer to him. “C’mon, Baby, I know that being sexy is what you do for a living - but you have to branch out a little.” Effortlessly alluring. Her eyes glimmering as her fingers trailed over his hand. The thought of making a comment of how nice his hand would look around her neck came to mind, but she hushed it instantly. “It shouldn’t be that hard, you already obtain gold in the bedroom and that figure - damn….”

“mmm” charlie’s eyes trailed her figure, the automatic reaction to her using that voice with him. he bent down further to claim her lips a matching smirk on his when he pulled away. “i’d love to” he murmured glancing down at her hand before finally getting in the car. “you’ve got a way with words you know that?” he asked resting his hand on the back of af’s seat to be closer to her. “it scares me a little”
