“It’s fine.” He assured her. “Selvin. My name’s Jason Selvin, And your name is…”
“Mr. Selvin,” she smiled. “Charlotte -- Charlotte Ezra. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” The woman extended her hand out before Jason.

“I know it’s technically for teenagers. But, I watched the movie on a flight and I was compelled to run out and buy the book. It was such an incredible story and there’s always stuff they miss out from the books.”
“I could never put an age limit on books; you have every right to read it. And I couldn’t agree with you more. There’s so much hope and potential the readers build up from the books when preparing to watch the movie - it’s just disappointing, to say the least.“
“It’s seriously fine, I’m pretty gentle with my books overall… Except my copy of Farewell To Arms, the poor thing is pretty much beat to hell.” She accepted the bag graciously and handed over the bill that she finally managed to fish out. “This is an amazing store, do you run it all by yourself?”
“You’re an Ernest Hemingway fan? ‘A Farewell to Arms’ is a brilliant book, I don’t judge.” Charlotte took the twenty dollar bill she handed her and in a swift manner, put the money in whilst taking her change out. “Thank you. It’s lovely, isn’t it? I do, yeah. I help to run the publishing company upstairs, too, but no one really bothers to help out down here. Though, I do prefer this environment.“
“It’s not for me, but thanks Charlotte.”
“-- Yeah. You’re welcome, Eaton.“
“You think I will, huh?”
“Hm, scratch that. With you, there’s no telling in what I think will be either right or wrong.”
“Paperback is just fine,” she responded with a smile, digging around in her purse for a twenty. “The reviews online all said it would be worth my while so I figured I should just buy it already.”
“If I had known I would have ordered a hardcover copy for you. I’m glad you decided to go with your instinct and the reviews -- most people tend to literally judge a book by its cover.” Charlotte bagged the book carefully before handing it over to the blond woman. “Nine, ninety-five’ll be your total.”
“Don’t mention it.” He takes another drag from his own cigarette before watching her light up. “You don’t see a lot of girls smoking those. What got you into it?”
Charlotte offered the stranger a smile before responding to his question. She took a long drag from the cigarette and craned her neck sideways to exhale away from his face. “My quest for finding a sure way to relieve stress that college had to offer. Yourself?”
“Eh, never been in love I guess. Just not my cup of tea.” Jason shrugged as he took the book she handed him.
“-- Sorry for asking.” The brunette offered him an apologetic, half grin. “Enjoy your evening, Mr...”
“Help yourself.”
“Nice lighter -- thanks.”
“That’s fine, darlin’. For me? Nah, I’m not into the whole love story thing. It’s a present for my niece. She’s at that age where she loves to read now and I hear this guy’s on the rage with the teenybopers.”
Charlotte let out a short chuckle. “My apologies; that’s more understandable. Nicholas Sparks is an amazing author, no doubt - good choice. Why is romance a ‘no’ if you don’t my asking?”
“You gonna keep staring or what?”
“Er-- I was wondering if I could get a light?”
“We’re all out of hardcover copies, unfortunately, but I hope paperback’ll do. Interesting choice, though I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.”
and you will go to mykonos, with a vision of a gentle coast, and a sun to maybe dissipate, shadows of the mess you made…
