“I almost wish I could have, they were so rude to me.” She spoke with a shake of her head at the memory. “They did, but they certainly weren’t happy about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were saying some choice words about me as they walked away, but I mean, I am entitled to my own time.” Charlotte said, relaying the situation again in her mind. “How do you give people hints that you dont want to talk?”

I sure hope you’re right…” she grimaced slightly at the thought of the trip to the toilet after. “How many do you think you’re going to get through?”

“Oh, so you’re not even going to ask my parents for a family ring?” Charlotte asked with clear and obvious teasing with her words. “I remember I was able to eat significantly less than you were, I’m thinking of aiming for at least seventeen. Do you think I can do it?”

“Wait, hold on. Did you just say thee?” Charlotte said, holding a finger up to stop the other mid sentence. “Is that some sort of language requirement that I’ve missed?” She asked, barely able to hold any sort of laughter in.

“Look,” Will began with a slight sigh, holding a hand out to pause her. “I’m not saying you can’t discuss this with me, I’m just saying that perhaps it’d be better if it was at a set time when one of isn’t going to get interrupted because they have class… or need to teach it.” In his case at least. “But yeah… I get the feeling you’d be great at an aural exam.” He added with a smirk, attempting to lighten the mood a little. “What was your job supposed to be then?”

Charlotte couldn’t help her laughter at the comment, “I’m really good at talking.” She agreed with a nod, “I think that’ll help, my parents talk a lot.” Charlotte mused, unconsciously she had been noticing little things that her parents had been doing and try to keep it in mind. “I don’t know, I mean... I just wanted to help. Make people's lives easier, and I guess it’s almost the same thing but just on a much larger scale. On top of everything else. What if I can’t help anyone? I can’t even write a coherent sentence!”

“You know… I feel like this more than just a sit down in a cafeteria kind of situation you know?” Because the girl was seriously intense when it came to the questions. It was surprising she hadn’t asked for an in depth thesis on how to write up a report complete with citations at this point. Hearing the girls considers though, he let out a slight sound, rubbing the back of his hair. Perhaps if she didn’t look like such a wounded puppy, he would have advised her to speak to someone else but he couldn’t kick her when she already seemed down. “So now you’re trying to make up for those years? That’s a lot of work you know.”

It was only at the comment that Charlotte really realised how much time she was taking up of the others. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I really can’t stop talking once I start.” She apologised with a sigh, “I just don’t know how I’m going to do this, any of it. It seems so easy in theory but now I’m here, I’m just so lost.” Charlotte spoke, still talking even after apologising for talking too much. “I’m trying. This was never meant to be my job, I’ve never had to care this much.”

“Different types of pizza pringles? Like veggie pizza and sardine pizza, or some shit?” Dakota asked. “Because the pizza pringles barely taste like pizza now so I don’t know how they’d manage that.”

“Honestly, you’re right. They’re not very flavourful but I’m not sure if it’ll be better or worse if it’s packed with so much flavour,” She responded, humming quietly as she weighed it up. “How impossible do you think it would be to make our own chips? Exactly the way we want them?”

Christian put his hands on Charlotte’s arms as if to comfort her. “Charlotte, the stuff that has happened to me, was so messed up, beyond messed up, even more than I told you, because sometimes I can’t even say it myself. I joke around, because that’s how I cope. It’s the only way I can get through what I went through.”

Her body language distinctively softened at his touch. It wasn’t often noticed by her but he absolutely made her settle and regain perspective. “I know, I know...” She spoke, her voice soft. Although, she didn’t know. Charlotte couldn’t even imagine what he had gone through, the second hand accounts wouldn’t measure up to actually living it. “I just don’t want you to believe it. The more you stay things like that, the more you’re going to believe it. And you’re not what they think. Just, tell me you don’t believe what they say.”

“And you have every right to be upset, I really need to kick my ass into gear and purchase that rock,” she played along with a laugh. “Oh man… probably twenty or over. Which was enough to make my stomach feel like it was going to burst. I think if I even get twenty-one this time I’ll be proud, I felt so sick,” Mars admitted, chuckling and shaking her head at the memory.

Charlotte sighed with a shake of her head, “It’s fine, I’ll wait.” Charlotte joked to the other. “Don’t start being negative now, think positive. You can make it to twenty one without feeling sick. It’s like positive affirmations!”

“That’s what I have found. If you remember to refer back to it, it tends to stop you straying too far from what they are actually asking you for.” Will had given up on expecting that he was going to actually get a break at this point. “Don’t you voice this to your tutors?” He asked after a moment, because he was fairly certain it was information any member of staff would give a pupil.

“Is it better to write out everything or try to pick the most important things?” She asked before pausing at his next question. “I... don’t think they take me seriously.” Charlotte admitted, “I haven’t really tried much the last few years but then Lucas died and I had to take his role. I don’t think that they think I’m being serious when I ask for help.”

This was supposed to be his break. He hadn’t intended on getting in a deep discussion about essay tactics or time management, yet here they were. Probably because the girl looked a little like she was about to overheat from getting worked up. “You wanna tell that to McDonalds given several of their stores are open twenty-four hours a day. I don’t think it occurs to them that there is a time and a place to eat a big mac.” He pointed out before giving a slight sigh. “Well that depends on the question I would imagine. Like when you have a test, the first thing you should be doing is underlining the important words in the question so you make your answers specific to what it says rather than just… word vomiting onto the paper.” He was sure the school had someone around to help with things like this.

It hadn’t even crossed her mind that perhaps the other was on their break. Most of the time Charlotte started to talk and didn’t stop for nearly anything. “I want a big mac now,” She laughed. “All I do is word vomiting, in literally everything. I can’t stop myself. So it helps to work the question into the answer and use that as the base?”
