I Cant Believe...
No one has noticed that at the beginning of the scene where Aziraphale asks to borrow the car, Crowley says OK LOVE WHENS YOUR TRAIN? I mean he called him love! I just noticed it myself!

I Cant Believe...

Absolutely crushed by the difference in perspective here. I was immediately drawn to the framing of these two while watching the breakup scene, and I’m surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned yet because I think it really says a lot about how the two view each other.
Crowley’s view of Aziraphale is close and personal, to the point where the entire background and the rest of Aziraphale’s body is gone. He’s focusing only on Aziraphale. In fact, the framing of the shot makes the two seem very close together, and therefore increases the intimacy of the interaction. Crowley’s confession reasserts his desire to run away and avoid the conflict of his and Aziraphale’s existence. This plan is a comforting idea, but it ignores the repercussions of abandoning Heaven and Hell (mainly the possibility for a second Armageddon). In this moment, Crowley is only seeing the big picture. He sees one path of happiness for him and Aziraphale, and is either unwilling to or unable to consider alternatives.
On the other hand, Aziraphale is looking at Crowley in a much less intimate manner. He is locked in on Crowley, but his perspective is less focused. Both the background and parts of Crowley’s body are visible, and the two look farther apart compared to Crowley’s point of view. Aziraphale is considering more than just his relationship with Crowley in this moment. He is seeing a life for them together, but he sees a life for himself in addition to that, where he can make a difference in what he believes is a flawed but fixable system. This perspective doesn’t lessen his emotional investment in their relationship; he may be thinking of the finer details, but his view is still filled with Crowley.
Unfortunately, this clash in framing is massive in a context like this. The emotional circumstances means they weren’t able to find a solution that compromises their contrasting views, and the tension and time restraint of Aziraphale’s decision made Crowley’s big picture and Aziraphale’s fine detail thinking seem even more divided. Hopefully, season three will show some character development for both of them and get them back on even footing for their next heart to heart chat.
"unstoppable force meets immovable object" is SUCH a fun way to think about crowley and aziraphale bc my first thought is always 'oh crowley's unstoppable force ("you go too fast for me crowley", literally speeding and ignoring traffic laws in the bentley, very modern) and aziraphale is immovable object ("i forgive you", has a particular set of clothes & pastimes he likes, very stuck in time)' but in a way they're both Both?
like yes crowley is all those things, but has he budged from aziraphale's side At All in those 6000 years? they'll go off and do different things, but he's been aziraphale's Adversary the entire time. he has nothing in his life but plants and aziraphale. friends? aziraphale. love interests? aziraphale. does he spend time with literally anyone else? just aziraphale. also, his main coping mechanism is to drop everything, sit in place, and nap for a century. in that way, crowley's immovable. he knows what he likes and he sticks with it, and what he likes is aziraphale.
and yes, aziraphale is also immovable, but he's also Damned dedicated and Constantly getting himself into trouble because he can't leave well enough alone. he's the first one to find the location of the antichrist, when inconveniently discorporated he simply sprints off to earth and body-snatches his way to tadfield, he lies recklessly to heaven without a second thought, he's the one who runs off with the bentley to edinburgh to play detective on a whim, and he's the one who makes a snap decision to run around convincing people to come to the market association meeting that he has also, on a whim, decided to host. the ball is the best example of this, because he tramples all over everyone else's free will and dismisses crowley's warnings trying to get that fantasy happy ending for nina & maggie (and have an excuse to dance with crowley). he's Constantly and Unstoppably sprinting from task to task, often getting himself into hot water in the process, and leaves it to crowley to keep up with him.
crowley's immovable because he's decided who he is, what he wants, and what he likes, and settles with it. aziraphale's unstoppable because he's been running away from his true thoughts & feelings for centuries and doesn't know how to stop.
The reason for the first apology dance...
What if the reason that Crowley invented the apology dance was because the day he rescued Aziraphale in Paris, he decided to make homemade crepes for him instead and the angel teased him jokingly for his effort and Crowley got his feelings hurt over it?
*texting*
Crowley: Hey.
Aziraphale: I'm out being a detective right now, what do you want?
*missed call*
Aziraphale: I said I'm being a detective posing as a journalist right now.
*missed call*
Aziraphale: My dear boy, I can't call right now!
*missed call*
*missed call*

Crowley: PICK UP THE PHONE.
Aziraphale: TEXT ME WHAT YOU NEED.
Crowley: Do you know where the peanut butter is?
Heres an interesting theory...
What if it was Crowley that told Edison to electrocute an elephant for his experiments because he geniunely disliked the guy and was playing the long game, knowing that the public would eventually find out and hate Edison as much as he did

i love and deeply appreciate bong joon ho’s commitment to calling out americans every chance he got this awards season like first he told them to read subtitles and stop being self centred then he said the concept of “foreign films” is stupid as fuck just say international and THEN he took all their fucking oscars. when asked what he was looking forward to in the future he said “going home.” he is and i cant stress this enough. a legend
