I’m so disappointed in some of the original Charmed actors.
They seem to refuse to understand that people of color have been kept out of the “witch” popular media for ages. This is huge for women like me, and girls younger than me, so whether it’s “good” or not, they should be proud. It’s so disappointing because I watched the original when I was younger, end I watch the new one now.
Honestly, I like the new one. I feel seen, even as a black woman, the new types of magic, the lgbt representation (don’t say that they couldn’t make a sister queer in the original when The L Word came out in 2004!)
I recently rewatched the original Charmed and I’m sorry, as a black woman, I couldn’t finish the series. The way the black male lead was treated, the way their feminism worked, the way black people and people in general were treated (gangsters, stupid demons, dead witches, villains) it does get hard to watch. Sorry, but the time for a show like that is nice for nostalgia, but the new Charmed is nice for the present and the future.
I wish the fandom would stop being so divided and so mean. I wish the older actresses would just shut up because they are ruining something that while it had issues did remind me of my childhood (smells like JKR, fucking with childhood memories...)
So just like chill, okay?
