- Antlers remember past damage and when they regrow the following season, they’ll have new branches in the damaged area to compensate. Because of this, Arthur’s antlers are MASSIVE from living his life as an outlaw. He literally has to duck under door frames and be careful in tents so he doesn’t rip the tarps. This is sort of why he’s been given a wagon with a pull out, harder for his antlers to tear up.

- His overly large antlers make it a little harder to charm people with Dutch and Hosea since most buck hybrid’s antlers are regular size from living with less danger in their day to day lives, but they make it work by spinning some sort of heroic story. On the other side of this coin, it also is what makes him such a feared enforcer since he’s clearly lived through lots of fights.

- Charles helps Arthur with neck and shoulder pains whenever the weight starts getting a little too cumbersome during rut season (when they reach maximum height and weight). I like to think he comes up from behind and grabs them at the base, then gently lifts up and literally holds the weight of them for a little bit. This is a weird comparison, but sort of like when a pregnant woman’s partner holds up their stomachs for them lmao.

- Arthur has carved out little holes in his gambler hat to fit the base of his antlers, and he has to religiously trim off certain pieces of his antlers each year in order to keep it fit comfortably on his head.

- Arthur usually sells his antlers to the trapper when he drops them to make money, but every now and then Charles admires a rack of them so much he wants to make things out of them. Antler bone necklaces, antler bone knife handles, antler bone tipped arrows- basically, you name it? He’s tried it with Arthur’s antlers.

Ya’ll ever realize how whenever Charles is fighting people, he uses weapons that cause the most lasting damage, that are the most personal? Tomahawk, Machete, his gun of choice is a fucking SAWED OFF SHOTGUN??

These aren’t delicate weapons, they’re fucking brutal to use in a fight, you need to get close to your enemy.

Versus when he’s hunting animals, he’s using his bow and is trying to be as respectful as possible. Tries to keep the kill clean.

I am just so in love with that contrast.
