The Book Club

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in London! I have found it on some Best coffee shops to work at in London list. Why would I choose to spend my time in a coffee shop while I am in London? 

Good question. Well, this was about the time I realized how not fun solo traveling is. On my first free day in London, I just started walking around the Westminster Abbey region, only to get bored way too fast and ended up spending the rest of the night working at Starbucks. I love Starbucks. It is almost exactly the same everywhere in the world, so it gives me a feeling of home and familiarity, so it was a win-win. That night, I decided to look for cool cafés around, and I found the Book Club café. 

I ordered the smoked salmon and avocado dish, which was amazing! My sister and I tried to come back here again when she got here, but we found out it is only served between 8-11 AM, so she never got to try it. The background music wasn’t too great; however, I was still able to be productive after plugging in my headphones and playing my own Spotify music. I am pretty sure I spent over 5 hours in that place.

London, London, London  November 2017

My first visit to London couldn’t be any better. I was here for an interview, and my sister had her self-study week the week right after my interview weekend, so we got to do a lot of exploring in the five days we had together! 

This is probably an exaggeration, but I really do feel we have done most of the must-see attractions tourists should visit in England. Here’s a list of a few things we have done: 

Outside of London

Stonehenge

Windsor Castle 

Bath City 

Salisbury Cathedral

University of Oxford 

Inside London

Big Ben

Westminster Abbey

House of Parliament 

Buckingham Palace 

London Eye 

Hyde Park 

SOHO

Piccadilly Circus

Leicester Square (where the Christmas lights were there but didn’t light while we were there)

Tower of London

Tower Bridge

Sky Garden (England’s highest public garden)

The Odeon Cinema in Covent Garden (where we watched Call Me by Your Name, a beautiful well-made movie)

The British Museum

Russell Square

Notting Hill 

The Thames River (where we did a couple bike tours by it)

Trafalgar Square 

Oxford Sreet (The Christmas lights were lit by Rita Ora 2 hours before we were there, and we had no idea!)

It was a lot, and we were pretty tired, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I haven’t done any of the Harry Potter things nor visited some friends around London, so I would definitely love to visit again.

This is so heartwarming. As I am going through my old blog, I realized that I have already been to many of the places my younger self wished to visit. I bet she will be happy to hear that.
