“Let's go,” Kingsley says again. Fjord says nothing, but he has both arms around Jester, every muscle tensed.  “A healing potion at least,” Caleb begs. “Before you leave. Please, Fjord. Jester—” He staggers to his feet and finds the tip of Kingsley’s blade leveled at his nose. “Looks like no one else is going to say it, so I will,” Kingsley says, his drawl more pronounced than usual for some reason. “You're losing it, magic man.”  “Kingsley,” Jester protests, aghast, her face still hidden against Fjord’s shoulder. “It was an accident, he didn't mean it—“ “Neither did I, when I was in his place,“ Kingsley says flatly. “But I still did it, didn't I?”

For the first time ever, I will be opening commissions!

Have you ever been conked on the head by joy? Well, it turns out I hadn't been, but over the holidays, it got me real good. It's time for me to make some changes, starting with top surgery and ending with a life I no longer need to grow against.

To help me save for surgery, I will be taking commissions. For those of you who have asked me before, 2026 is your chance! Feel free to send a message/comment if there's something you'd want to see offered. A donation option will be available if that's more your jam, too.

re-watching the campaign and losing my mind all over again when i got to c2e12 midnight espionage/c2e13 lost and found. those episodes have Everything. the three-way mexican standoff with fjord, caleb and nott over some scrolls (that she steals at the end anyway while caleb is unconscious from fireball damage). flying evil wizards and casual high level magic out in the open. liam fully turning away from the table as matt describes the older human wizard who was flinging spells around. the encounter with the echo knight in the sewers and first description of kryn armor. THE BEACON!!! molly's charm person that allowed matt to lore-dump about the dynasty while i sit in front of the tv eating drywall about how fucking cool their society is. (i'll never be over it btw). the decision to let the knight go at 1 HP and then shock when he's immediately captured by the guard. the instant pivot to decide they do actually want the beacon. beau rolling a 1 and a 4 to intimidate some random kids in an alley after jumping down from a roof. nott using minor illusion to create a dali-esque beacon melting in the air in front of the guard while caleb steals the real one. nott's "he is my boy" speech to beau and the others. i'm unwell

finally finished a painting i've been cooking in my mind for a few years! shadowgast as The Devil, one of my favorite tarot cards and one of the three cards i associate with their relationship

i'm not much for divination but i love the story-telling aspect of tarot, and one of my favorite visual metaphors of The Devil is how loose the chains around the two figures' necks are. they're not kept bound. it's that possibility to choose that i find so significant, and so fitting for the story of these two wizards. to say you're not defined by your past is to say you're born with all the choices you make; but to say you are forever defined by it is to deny yourself the right to change. the chains around your neck might be very heavy, but the choice to shrug them off is always yours to take.
