Okay so for real, if Adrien is a sentimonster, it explains...
What Emilie wanted
At this point we know that Emilie is in the state she is because she used the peacock. (She shared the same symptoms Nathalie developed after using it.) We also know what the peacock does (create sentimonsters, who can be as human as their creator wants them to be.)
We don't know that much about Emilie, but if we assume that she made Adrien, we get a sense of what she wanted in a child/what characteristics were important to her and Gabriel.
We can also gather that having a child was important to her, because I assume the peacock wasn't their first choice. Who knows, though? Maybe it was.
If Emilie used the peacock to create Adrien approximately 15 years ago, that would give the Agrestes time to prepare her life support system when they realize what is going on. (Possible Tsurugi connection?)
This also ties in with the timing Gabriel mentions in the Shanghai special.
It also may explain why Adrien was home schooled. Perhaps the ailing Emilie wanted to spend as much time with him as possible.
Why Gabriel can't just time-travel and stop Emilie from using the peacock while it's broken.
Besides the fact that so far, his time traveling akuma (Chronogirl/Timebreaker) required the energy of several people to go back a matter of minutes, Gabriel using time travel that way would only undo Adrien's creation, which he (and undoubtedly Emilie) do not want.
Felix's grudge, if he too is a sentimonster.
Picture this. Emilie has her new son, and lends the peacock to her sister's family so they can make their own. Amelie's husband uses it and creates Felix. He eventually succumbs to the damage caused by using a broken miraculous, approximately 14-15 years later (since he's recently deceased in the episode Felix.)
Perhaps on his deathbed, he told Felix the truth about his origins, and perhaps gave him his amok. (Felix wears a ring, so it's a decent candidate.)
Felix now realizes that the Agrestes are complicit in his father's death, since they gave him a broken miraculous to use. (Knowingly? Unknowingly?) And I can understand his feelings about his cousin being... complicated, to say the least.
I'm super eager to see more of what he's up to now.
Some S4 related speculation under cut
I'm thinking that the twin rings together are Adrien's amok in this scenario, sort of like the record in Crocoduel. You probably need both to fully control Adrien, or to destroy him. (Adrien didn't die when Gabe was vaporized in the Shanghai Special.)
Also, things that are screaming at me re: this theory are of course, the ring covering Adrien's face in Mega leech and then seeing Gabriel command him, and also the situation in Wishmaker. It looks like he was created as a baby to become what his parents wanted him to be.
Also also, I don't know for certain if any of this is canon. I'm not usually the type to speculate on things that aren't confirmed, but I've decided I'm okay with being wrong if it comes down to it. It just feels a lot like when we weren't sure if Gabriel was Hawky, and look how that turned out?
full disclosure, the thing about plagg already knowing is @yunyin ‘s idea that im using here! she mentioned in the discord about ‘what if plagg already knew, and in volpina he distracted adrien with the book so he wouldn’t see the peacock miraculous?’ (that’s paraphrasing) she also made a super neat post about the sentimonster theory that will explain things better than i could.
this theory is gaining traction, and while im sure it would destroy me if it were real, im still open minded about it and think its really cool. i get lots of people dont agree with it, but keep in mind im not declaring this as canon or anything and this is just for fun :)
