I feel like people need to be a little kinder to Natsu. Don't get me wrong his behavior isn't okay but no one is honestly spending time to actually think about why Natsu is so afraid to be a runner.
Everyone's right when they tell him it's Lucy's choice, but no one seems to understand that Natsu has seen this before. He's cared about people (not in the way he care about Lucy but not the point) and he's lost them. You said three roommates I believe died?
He has feelings for Lucy, even if he's not sure yet he does and the simple idea of her dying basically kills him inside. He can't take her choice away and he should know and acknowledge that but people also need to realize that Natsu is a lil broken (not sure that's the right word). After seeing as much as he and a lot of others have when it comes to this apocalypse is hard. I'm sure it's difficult to open yourself up to other people especially when they keep going off and dying.
Anyway sorry this went a little long, but I really hope someone will sit him down and just let him know that they know he's lost many roommates/people when they were runners but it'll be different this time or just let him know kindly without telling him he's wrong (not that no one was kind about it) that Lucy's come a long way and that nothing it's going to happen to her.
I feel like Lucy is just someone who's be extra careful when it comes to this ya know?
But yeah. . .;-; I hope that made sense. Seriously love CHDH really excited for the next chapter. I hope your sense of smell comes back and stays back :) I'm glad you're doing okay. I go worried. (I have never honestly been this active and talkative when it comes to authors but you're like really nice so I'm only a little anxious to do so. So thank you for that)
Awww! Thank you for calling me nice. I don't think I am and I struggle to be kind sometimes, but thank you!
I agree with you that there's a lot not addressed and Natsu is having a hard time explaining himself because he just thinks it should be no, end of discussion, but he needs to reel it back and have a real talk with Lucy, one where they listen to the other, then Natsu can see she's doing her best. Now, she can always improve, which is how Natsu can help.
But honestly, there's no guarantees she'll be safe. She could walk outside a house and a zombie just lunge at her and she wouldn't have time to protect herself. Or she could fall and cut herself and get infected blood ina wound and that wouldn't be healthy.
Hell, she could stumble upon people hiding in a house and get held at gunpoint like the others did! There's just so much risk leaving the base, and Natsu can't see past that.
He will, eventually, but it'll take a bit for him to identify his toxic behavior. He's not all wrong, but his attitude and unwillingness to even consider Lucy being capable out there is not good for their friendship, trust, and respect.
He will get some character development in the next chapters.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
