Muken Aizen is just so regal and powerful witout even trying. The hottest version of him by far 🤤 LOOK AT HIS BACK PROFILE!!!! The way his clothes lay on his shoulders... how his hair is on fleek. Like he knows exactly who he is....
AIZEN curses at himself for being a fool. You were right there, and yet he couldn't reach you. Again. Afraid that you would run away, his habit of being in control seized the reins to ensure emotions wouldn't deter his desired reunion with you. What a tiresome battle of the heart and mind it was.
It wasn't like him to give up so easily on something he needed. He wouldn't be able to bring you happiness? A humorous supposition. Aizen was no stranger to crushing impossibilities.

After a lengthy reconnaissance mission in the World of the Living, you decide to wind down in a rural area in the Rukongai district. It was a pleasant place—hills of grass stretched out before you, soft and vibrant, along with occasional homes dotting the landscape. However, you were quite shaken up by Aizen's appearance those few days ago, and could not stop questioning his true motives. Not to mention, he was still interfering with your personal life like a weirdo stalker.
Did he really want you back, or was he toying with you? For someone so prideful and ruthless, he'd never blatantly admit to feeling anything towards anyone. Still, you couldn't ignore the possibility that he wasn't telling you everything. Or rather, it was that you didn't allow him to.
Puffy, gray clouds drag themselves across the bright sky, acting as curtains from the sun. What a shame, you thought. It seemed like the rain was coming before you could even relax. When you decide to turn around, however, a tall figure obstructs your path.
"[Name]."
Your body involuntary jumps as a trail of incoherent noises bubble from you, "What the hell are you doing here, Aizen? I thought I told you to leave me alone!"
"You never specified for how long."
"Don't be such a smart-ass. Context clues exist for a reason."
"By that logic, those same context clues suggest you still want me."
Of course he noticed that.
"Has being in Muken turned you into a madman? You're delusional."
"Yes," his breath shudders, "yes, I've gone mad. Anyone would lose their senses when deprived of life's necessities."
"Except you're not just 'anyone'," you scoff, feigning indifference at the meaning behind his words. "It's not like you need anything if you already have the Hogyoku."
"You'd be surprised. No matter how much we possess, it's in our nature to desire more."
Aizen takes a few steps towards you. Your stomach lurches at his words and the way his mahogany eyes hold yours hostage, as if forcing you to witness an unbearable truth.
Knowing him, he was a persistent bastard who would keep pestering you no matter how many times you rejected him. Letting out a trembling sigh, you ask him a question you unfortunately know the answer to, "What do you want?"
He doesn't respond immediately. For a moment, he's frozen in place as if he were a flower at a cliff's edge—there was no going back once he drifted beyond it.
"I want you," he softly exhales, his breath fogging the cold air. "I need you."
As if on command, droplets of water begin to shower you both. There's an irritating way your mind and heart falters at his confession. He looked so miserable, so starved—and your presence only fueled the inferno in his heart despite the rain.
"I can't believe that," you weakly respond, your voice cracking. "Why do you want me now? Why did you leave me then?"
"I convinced myself that you were too weak to stand with me. That any compassion towards you would only impede my ambitions. When, in reality, I..." he trails off for a few seconds, "...I was afraid of losing you. I never wanted to admit that until now."
A raw silence subsumes his heavy voice. You try to wrap your head around this information. Aizen, of all people, was afraid of losing someone? It was inconceivable. Even if he was a man who purged any weakness, you couldn't believe you were one of them. Though, certainly, if you had betrayed the Soul Society with him and survived, the Sokyoku would only await. So, that would mean...
He protected you?
Despite feeling shocked at his sudden change in character, your wounded heart was still reluctant to rekindle a bond with him.
"Aizen, you need to forget about me. Please."
"Forget? You speak as if the memory of you is merely an afterthought," he says, paying no mind to the vulnerability of his words. "I simply cannot forget you. If such an act were so simple, I'm certain I would have died by now. That is because you are the only one who can resurrect me with the breath of life—not this lackluster gemstone, no."
"...That's just a damn lie, isn't it?"
"It is anything but a lie. It is a fact. It was always a fact." His face is wrought with desperation, fervent eyes flickering to every part of your form as if the rain would wash you away, "You are the source of my hope and despair, my earthly undoing. Each step towards the heavens had only reminded me of how inextricably and hopelessly bound to you I was. There isn't a moment where I don't want you by my side."
Slowly, his hand reaches out to cup your face, thumb lightly grazing your cheekbone, "I say this not as a god, nor as a king, but a man. I cannot deny myself any longer these feelings of honor and pride, to have had the privilege of agonizing in the joy of loving you. I have no doubt that you will be the most wonderful kind of happiness I experience in this lifetime."
Without even knowing, those were the words you'd wanted to hear for so, so long. Yes, you wanted him to love you, and you still do. But why did it hurt so badly?
"You... how can you still be so selfish after everything you've done?" Your nails dig into his hand that's cradling your face, but he doesn't let go. "How can you just—how can you show up and tell me these things when I've just gotten used to living without you?"
"It's because you could never live without me."
Sousuke pulls you in and kisses you. It's certainly not the sweet kind, but the way he holds you so dearly, the way his soft lips rightfully envelop yours—you finally submit to the belief that this is where you belong. He breaks away for a moment, regarding you with a kind of aching possessiveness that only a broken man could have, and then kisses you again.

This was supposed to be for Kurotsuchi week for the prompt youth but I was unexpectedly busy so I didn’t remember to post it.
The idea was that even when he was a kid he was still experimenting on people. And also the makeup is from Marilyn Manson since Mayuri’s theme song is dope show.
This is a continuation of my character study of Aizen, where I examine him through the lens of what his subordinates — the Espada — reveal about him. I covered Espada No. 9 previously (read here), and now we’ll look at our mad scientist archetype: Szayelaporro.
Apart from the first Espada meeting, we first properly meet Szayel when he casually enters Aizen’s space, admitting that it was he who sent the assassination team after the Privaron Espada. This introduction tells us a few things about the character: Szayel seems calm, calculating, collected, and confident. He is a man of science, wears glasses, has a plan, and operates from behind the scenes — giving orders to the Exequias without Aizen’s permission.
All of this perfectly mirrors how Aizen operated as the Lieutenant: running illegal experiments while playing the role of an obedient, unassuming officer. The moment Szayel apologizes for his insubordination feels especially fake because we understand that he is merely playing a role to avoid consequences. It is an act — a manipulation in which he reenacts remorse. This resembles Aizen’s manipulation through his harmless persona during most of his time within the Gotei 13. That is exactly why Aizen calls out the lie, only to dismiss it immediately — because he is not threatened by manipulation he can clearly see through.
Both Szayel and Aizen have histories of betrayal. Aizen betrayed Soul Society, while Szayel helped Nnoitra effectively get rid of Nelliel. Szayel’s appearance also plays a part in this. He is depicted as canonically “pretty” (I’m basing this on Kubo-sensei’s commentary on his character design), and beauty is often associated with virtue. Here, that appearance is used as a contrast to his cruel and sadistic nature.
The way Szayel looks (glasses) and speaks immediately tells the reader that he is a man of science and manners. When he faces Renji and Uryu, he speaks to them with eloquence. Beneath his civilized, intellectual facade lies an amoral and violent beast that will devour its own subordinates alive in order to escape harm and danger. He places data-collecting devices inside other Arrancar — including his own brother — without their knowledge. He collects corpses, uses data on potential opponents to create countermeasures for their attacks, creates traps, maintains a secret laboratory etc.
This brings us to Szayel’s aspect of death — madness.
Szayel and Aizen share a mad scientist trope. Aizen experiments brutally on souls in pursuit of his goal: completing the Hogyoku and breaking existing boundaries. His disregard for human life mirrors Szayel’s. Yet all of his cruelty and monstrosity are hidden behind logic, science, and calm detachment. Aizen, while experimenting, appears emotionally detached. But so does Szayel at first, going as far as stating that his own brother was nothing more than a bag of flesh carrying a data collector within him. There is no connection, no remorse, no bond formed. This is the kind of madness that rationalizes atrocities in the name of science and progress.
The theme of madness extends beyond just immoral experiments. Szayel's madness is especially present during his fight against Mayuri: the arrogance, the obsession with control, and the belief that he is a perfect being because he is immortal (able to regenerate by leaving his cells within a host and feeding on their life energy like parasite to reconstruct his body).
Szayel's madness is connected directly into pursuing perfection, immortality and superiority. This obsessive chase toward perfection ultimately leads to his downfall, as Mayuri’s philosophy — that perfection equals stagnation — proves superior.
This foreshadows Aizen’s own journey toward transcendence through the Hogyoku’s transformations. Aizen fuses with the Hogyoku, and undergoes multiple transformations. His Butterflaizen form even slightly resembles Szayel’s Resurrección.
After transforming, Aizen begins disregarding strategy, tanking attacks without attempting to parry them because he arrogantly believes himself untouchable. In his Butterfly form, he repeatedly states that he has crossed the boundary of transcendence. He mentally reaches a state similar to Szayel’s stagnation, believing his butterfly form to be final and absolute. Yet we know this conclusion is false, because another monstrous transformation still awaits him.
Szayel functions as a miniature rehearsal of Aizen’s eventual downfall caused by arrogance, narcissism, false belief of being a superior being, instrumental treatment of others, and getting mentally stagnant after achieving 'immortality'.
The true madness lays in the ego. The logic behind the scientific detachment collapses in the end for both Szayel and Aizen because the goals they are chasing after aren't scientific in nature, they are philosophical (perfection/transcendence), and emotionally motivated.
If we follow the parallel that perfection = stagnation, we can also assume that Aizen had long believed he had already reached the apex of what a Shinigami could achieve. This belief pushed him to seek external means of transcendence, despite the fact that he never truly achieved complete fusion with his sword or genuine understanding of himself. In his arrogance, Aizen ultimately limits himself, preventing further growth and self-discovery.
Szayel's sword is called La Lujuriosa (The Lustful) and although its release carries obvious sexual imagery — swallowing — I think the theme of lust in Szayel’s character is more deeply connected to violation and control.
He devours his own subordinates. He resurrects himself by feeding on his enemies bodies, in a process depicted almost like childbirth after they are first “penetrated” by his cells. His techniques allow him to manipulate opponents through voodoo dolls, which he can open to grotesquely destroy their organs. Finally, Szayel’s theme song is “Rape Me” by Nirvana.
All of this paints the picture of a violent predator seeking absolute control over others — using them, draining them, violating them, and ultimately destroying them.
Metaphorically, this is also how Aizen operates on a psychological level. He controls others like pawns, violating their individuality to the point that they begin acting according to his will without even realizing it.
To sum this up, Szayel represents the pathological extreme of Aizen’s intellect, scientific detached, ego, obsession with transcendence, manipulation and violation of individuality of others. They both touches immortality, but only one of them survives the defeat. And in both cases, the defeat itself contains a dark irony - Szayel who claims to be a perfect being is stopped by the super-human drug, while Aizen loses to his own scientific project - Ichigo Kurosaki.
Y/N may or may not disappear after all the stars appear, so maybe it wasn't really about watching the stars together... or was it? 👁️👄👁️
Looking back at him, he looks kinda ominous even though I didn't intend for him to! Like, when I gave him a highlight inside his eyes when he turned, he ended up looking even more devious. Maybe I failed the assignment @cheese183818 I'm so sorryyyyy but well I believe he is the happiest when things go according to plan— and meeting y/n alone when it’s getting dark was in his plans… for not fatally reasons. Or maybe ???!!!!
I wanted to add to the conversation about the outfit designs as a part of character development that @urazen covered in her post here (go read it!).
It will be brief, and perhaps obvious, but let's talk about colors.
In Bleach, a prominent color associated with Shinigami is black. Black appears in their standard uniforms, the Hell Butterflies, and the symbols of their Divisions. We also know that "Black" was the initial idea for the title of Bleach before it evolved further.
White, by contrast, is associated with death: Hollow masks, bones, the sands of Hueco Mundo, and enemies (Quincy and Arrancar) — a direct opposition.
With that color symbolism in mind, we can follow and understand Aizen's character arc in a very clear, symbolic way.
Aizen starts as a “humble” Shinigami, wearing a black lieutenant’s uniform like everyone else, not only pretending to be ordinary, but at his core still being a Shinigami who has reached the limit of his power development (or so he believes at that point) while chasing the idea of crossing boundaries.
As a captain, nothing changes yet. He is still a Shinigami, and his black Shinigami outfit remains.
This changes when he steals Urahara’s Hōgyoku and ascends to Hueco Mundo. The first time we see him there, as a ruler, he wears a white coat over his old black Shinigami uniform. He is slowly crossing from Shinigami into something new. He exists in a liminal state of transition, not yet abandoning his Shinigami origin (even if he no longer thinks of himself as a Shinigami, as Barragan points out). Visually, the black Shinigami core is still there.
The first time we see him dressed entirely in white is during his meeting with the Espada after the intruders penetrate Hueco Mundo. This is the true crossing point. At that moment, he cuts away his association with the Gotei 13 and with Shinigami as a race. From then on, he wears the colors of a Hollow. It reads like a statement: I am against the Shinigami. I oppose them. I am not one of them.
This visual opposition obviously works for readers, allowing us to easily distinguish the sides of the conflict, but psychologically, defining oneself purely in opposition to something still implies dependency. Without the Shinigami to oppose, Aizen would have no identity to define himself against. This is not true individualism being expressed.
The white motif surrounding Aizen is reinforced further by each of his subsequent transformations becoming more and more plain, stripped of all colors except white, increasingly more Hollow-like. Even the substance produced by the Hōgyoku to envelop him in a cocoon resembles the same goo that creates Hollow masks. As his soul gets rewritten, he is no longer truly a Shinigami at this point. All three of his transformations: the Chrysalis state, Post-chrysalis state, and Butterfly form, symbolically demonstrate that Aizen has ceased to be a Shinigami. And so they are all white.
Then the mask cracks, and the black skull of monster Aizen emerges from beneath the white layers. Ironically, his final transformation merges both black and white, suggesting that the transcendence is incomplete. The unwanted, uneasy truth still remains: he will always be partially Shinigami.
And then we arrive at the Muken outfit, which is black once again — almost as if it serves as a reminder of who he truly was. As if he returned to his roots and realized that he had not, in fact, reached the limit of Shinigami power after all (the perfect fusion with his zanpakutō). Symbolically and chromatically, his character arc comes full circle, bringing him back to black.

YOU take a moment to properly examine yourself. Draped in a black kimono you rarely wear, your aura feels different. What was once merely reserved now carries a dangerous edge. Regardless, you are thankful to find yourself in a pristine condition.
…Wait.
Color drains from your face at the realization.
“You... actually took a bath?”
Despite having read your thoughts, he answers nonchalantly, though a hint of amusement flickers in his eyes. “That goes without saying. I made sure to clean every nook and cranny.”
You slowly step back in disbelief before hollering. The sound of the renowned Aizen Sousuke throwing a fit should have shaken mountains, but it only sounds moronic in your version.
“P—Pervert! How dare you touch my body!”
“I fail to see the issue here. Maintaining good hygiene is hardly optional.”
You gasp at his audacity. Appalled yet unfortunately incapable of refuting, you helplessly point at him. “Enough! Just… return my body to me!”
Aizen lets your outburst pass without much of a fuss. Raising both arms, he opens them widely.
You watch him, dumbfounded. “What? Are you about to say, ‘Welcome back to my Soul Society’, or something?”
He chuckles. “Once we embrace each other, our bodies will revert back to normal.”
Your distrust is blatant as you squint at him. “You expect me to believe that?”
“Do you have a better suggestion then?”
Obviously, you don’t.
With an annoyed huff, you step forward and close the distance between you.
Now standing directly in front of your own body, you realize the difference in your height. The top of your head barely reaches his shoulder. You are practically a gnome next to the man.
No wonder he never takes me seriously.
Hesitantly, you wrap his arms around your small shoulders. Then—
In a blink of an eye, you are back in your body. At the same time, the seals limiting both of your abilities dissolve in thin air.
Just as you begin to pull away, Aizen suddenly moves. His left arm slides around your waist, while his right hand presses your head against his chest.
“H-Hey—!”
“Although being inside you was delightful,” he says, unfazed by your attempts to escape, handling you as if you are but a temperamental cat, “I must admit that I prefer holding you like this.”
“Phrasing,” you mutter with a scowl.
Still, you eventually find yourself returning his embrace, albeit hesitantly. Touch-deprived as you are, you cannot deny the comfort that his warmth brings. After all, given the fatality of your Absorption ability, Aizen is the only one in the entire Three Realms who can hold you.
Pleased with your acquiescence, Aizen chuckles. He leisurely rests his chin atop your head and enjoys the intimacy that you two rarely share.
“You're unusually quiet,” he mutters against your hair with a smirk. “Are you enjoying this?”
Grumbling, you respond with the most unhinged answer known to mankind:
If Aizen knew Urahara before Yoruichi did, why didn't Aizen approach him first? I think if it weren't for Yoruichi, Urahara would've easily gone down a darker path. So, if Aizen did initiate a relationship with Urahara first, i think they would've been an unstoppable duo, or at the very least, good pals.
In this post, I will share what meager thoughts I have...
"You're... the man I expected you to be."
Given Aizen's extraordinary abilities, it would make sense for him to want a bit of a challenge. By saying he expected Urahara to be a certain way, to me, implies he could only confirm Urahara's nature by directly interacting with him. This means, by far, that Aizen has intentionally put a distance between them and could not know Urahara beyond his talents, which creates a disadvantage for himself, thus turning it into a challenge. As we've seen with interactions Aizen has had with other characters, he always knew 'everything' about someone, specifically when it comes to their mentality/behavior. This is part of how he always remains cool and collected in confrontations, and how he manipulates others.
However, Aizen acknowledged Urahara as a potential equal, and decided not to stoop to such manipulative methods, similar to how he didn't use Kyouka Suigetsu on Ichigo. Instead, this would be a battle to test pure ability.
"If his power was truly on a level of its own from the moment he was born, then maybe he was just always searching for someone who was standing at the same viewpoint as he was. And then maybe from the moment he gave up on that, he just kept wishing somewhere in his heart that he could 'Just be a Shinigami'..."
Considering Aizen's disposition to challenge others before determining their worthiness as an equal, I think he purposely avoided interacting with Urahara as a way to participate in some kind of quiet competition (but once again, as with mayuri, kisuke has no idea he's a part of one LMAO). Like, who can dismantle the system before the other? By engaging in this little bout, this was Aizen's twisted way of forming a bond with somebody because he was so lonely. As a master manipulator (of emotion & reality), he knows that people's intentions are not 100% genuine, so the only way to verify somebody's 'realness' is through their strength/abilities.
However, upon realizing a lack of ambitious activity from his 'rival,' Aizen eventually gave up on creating a connection with Urahara, and began to resent him for not living up to his expectations.... aka not assuaging his loneliness lawl. *I will note that Aizen's resentment towards Urahara is more nuanced than that, because to him, Urahara's actions only perpetuate stagnation. I sort of explore Aizen's motivations in my previous post*
This is my interpretation of his character so far, but when Ichigo surmises Aizen might have wanted to "Just be a Shinigami," it makes me think he yearned for that when noticing that someone like Urahara also became a 'simple' Shinigami. I wonder if it made him question his worldview at some point, and gradually started overpowering his desire for godhood as time went on. Without any genuine relationships, along with the forbidden knowledge he held, it's easy to see how Aizen would despair at being so powerful and different. His world was pretty much empty (ahem Hueco Mundo reference). In my opinion, Urahara was the last person who affirmed his loneliness, leading him to reject everybody else in the future.
I also wonder if Urahara feels guilty for not noticing this earlier, knowing they were alike. UGH
Yknow. Thinking about it now..... i understand why ppl ship them sm LOL... cuz i'm starting to do the same. Currently imagining a scenario, where Aizen would use his centuries of loneliness to goad Urahara into giving him more affection & attention to make up for the lost time they could've spent together....
