I think people are being too harsh on Catti. Despite the controversial bullying accusations, people often forget that Susie wasn’t nice to her classmates. These don’t justify Catti's attitude in chapter 5, but she had valid reasons to stand up to Susie.

"Keyframes are what truly matter; in-betweens are just the icing on the cake. The most important thing is knowing the start and end of a movement, and how to break it down. I’ve done some practice runs, but many of them look weird because I added way too many in-betweens. Bottom line: just capture those extreme moments of the start and end. Everything else is secondary—at least for me right now. I’ve finally started diving into The Animator's Survival Kit."

Day 2's log:

"The most valuable thing I learned today was how to use Exposure Sheets (X-sheets). I finally understand the relationship between FPS and the timeline. So there are three types of frames in modern animation: Keyframes, In-betweens, and Holds.

Based on the frequency of drawings, these are categorized as animating 'on 1s' (24 fps), 'on 2s' (12 fps), or 'on 3s' (8 fps). Attempting a consistent, high frame rate for everything would result in an impossible workload. So now my focus is mastering frame distribution—learning where to push the detail and where to optimize for efficiency."

Animation crash course, Day 1

This is something I only record on a whim.

I'll begin my project and finish it in two months before I serve my military service in July. Here's Day 1's log:

"I thought nothing could be worse than existence itself. I was wrong.

I never feel more washed out than the moment I realize that in a 24 fps setup, four seconds equals 96 frames. If you animate on a three-frame interval, you’d need 32 drawings. Each drawing consists of 3 layers (Lines, Highlight/Shadow lines, and Color—with shading colors kept in the Color folder), plus a merged 'layontop' FX layer. That brings the total to 32 x 4, or 128 layer folders in total

I feel like part of sth inside of me dies with this realization."

The lesson today is: don't try to do 24fps; do 10... or 12, maybe... definitely not more than 15fps...

Btw, I’ll do more of them bc I should and I love to, I won’t forget doghaus (most my twitter followers want doghaus stuff, or some nitw I guess) or others stuff, but I’ve set my mind on focusing on this one ship I always want to dedicated to…

Anyway, I’m out for these summer vac bc I need to do military service (I hate tw for these), and after that… the application to art school… wish me luck

Speaking of art school, I need to give credit to @tulliok (I’m so sorry can I tag people like that? Is… is it inappropriate? If so I’ll edit it sor). Believe or not, my approach on Trixie is heavy inspired by tulliok, (like, 丹鳳眼…丹鳳眼trixie???太對味了啊啊啊, 此女怎能如此貌美) and… tull’s art is one of the reasons why I’m chasing my dream right now… yeah, i really should have say all these AFTER I finish preparing the application, but anyway, this is a good time as well. I’m sure tull won’t see this (full time animators, busy I suppose, 所以我才敢發肉麻的話，反正不會有人看到😭）
