I have this random idea or AU where people have flowers grow from their bodies whenever they experience powerful emotions like grief, happiness, anger, etc. The flowers for each person depends on their personality. I personally headcanon that forget-me-not flowers suit Hershel.

Now, Luke has never seen Hershel's flowers (because he's good at hiding and repressing his emotions) but by the moment Claire disappears to go back to her own time where she dies, Hershel takes off his hat and Luke finally saw his flowers.

A bed of forget-me-nots blooming on his hair, hiding underneath his hat all along.
