Iāve learned of the term, just today, and it seems an odd one. I understand feeling chosen by the god you follow, but is there really a need for such a silly name for it?
Iāve felt close to my gods for years, mainly Loki, as I am a Lokean. But never have I felt the need to use such a bold title as āLokispouseā It seem self serving to me. I would not wish to be viewed as any different from my brothers and sister under his path. As he, himself, tends to be bold; I feel that to have a follower that would be so bold as to use a tile like this would upset him. Not to mention any god would most likely view the use of a term, such as āGodspouseā, with less than favorable feelings.
Donāt get me wrong, Wishing to āmarryā yourself to a god is fine, I have already done this, as Wanting such a close relationship with the one you serve is always nice. It would be much like the Christian women that calls herself a Nun.
However, she does not clam to be āchosenā by her god, she instead devotes herself fully to her belief and thus her god.
So really A simple devotion to oneās god should be enough.
Again feeling chosen by your god/gods is fine, I see no issue with it. But to assume you are better than another, or more entitled to the affections of a godā¦well..it would only bring bad things to you in the end.
So as for the term, itās selfā¦
Would I use it?
No, Though I love Loki, in all his splendid glory, and tricky fun. I would not feel right to self endorse, or claim to be better than another, just by using a term.
There is no need to give a name, to the closeness I feel to him, or any other god. I am happy to just serve and work with him and the others. To talk to them, even if they never answer with words.
To know I feel the love, and embrace of those I follow.
In my eyes to be a true āChosen oneā is to be humble, giving, and strong. Not to give yourself a title, or clam to be the lover of a god. For all you know, the being on the other end of the relationship isnāt really the one you think it is. Or, you might just be pissing off the very god you claim to be so close to.
yes it is fun to fantasize. To draw ship art, and joke. (as long as your god allows that sort of thing.) Hell, I ship one of my characters WITH Loki. But purely out of fun, and to practice drawing. Not to mention she is just that, a character. Itās fun to make sorties and what ifās. But please. If you think using a term like this is goodā¦Or you do truly believe you are aĀ āgodspouseā Then ask yourself. Has you god physically come to you, proclaiming feelings of love, or great need?
If not, then maybe you really arenāt what you think you are. And before you refute my logic, think back to the old stories of any religion or myth. All those that were chosen, were told so, ether by the god/goddess themselves, or an agent of said deity. They were given physical confirmation of it.
I donāt mean sound so rude, but I wanted to state my feelings on the use of this title. āGodsoupseā is a frightening new term for me. It really only feels like a way to make the one using it, feel better than others. And that is a toxic notion that no one should be okay with.
