Gene Kelly working on his ballet, Pas de Dieux, for the Paris Opera 1960. Kelly was the first American to be invited to the opera house to choreograph an original ballet.

Cheered one of France’s top critics “Kelly succeeded in blowing away a half century of dust from the Paris Opera.“ He was elected a Chevalier (Knight) of the Legion of Honour.
