🌊
Once in a while, it is healthy for us to pause and take time to watch the sun go down or have a cup of coffee while enjoying the waves of the sea. Not only does it help us unwind but also makes us mindful and grateful for the moment. I welcomed 2019 at La Union, I spent a few days there before finally going back to work.
Transportation:
We took the bus in Pasay (Partas) going to La union (Php 524 per pax, one way) From the terminal, we took the tricycle going to a restaurant to have lunch then to our transient house; paid Php 100 for that ride which is cheap because the restaurant and our transient were quite far from the bus terminal.
You may opt to ride the jeepney/bus there but tricycle is more convenient and available. No grab or taxi.
So we spent the same amount of transpo (Php 524 + 100) going back to Manila.Cheap, right?
Accommodation:
There's a lot of transient houses to choose from in La union ranging from the cheapest to the most expensive. Of course since this is a budget trip, we chose one of the cheapest transient houses.
We stayed at San Juan Manipon Urbiztondo; check them out on fb, here's the link. Maayos, malinis, madaling puntahan at mabait ang mga staff.

We stayed there for two nights. One room good for 2-4 pax with aircon, private toilet only costs 1,500 per night so kahit 6 kayo bes, ok lang. Hati hati parin kayo sa 1,500! Bongga na diba? Spacious sya may small round table, 4 beds and toilet. Plus, hindi naman kayo dun magsstay kaya hindi mo kailangan ng super bongga or mahal. Since we stayed there for 2 nights, we paid them 3,000.
Walking distance lang din sya sa dagat, siguro 5-10 minutes away, then lots of restaurants nearby.
Enjoying La Union
La union is a home for surfers and beach lovers. It's a beautiful and calming place. It's an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, the work that we do, the toxic people or environment that we may have and other worries of life.
I spent few days praying, meditating and breathing through the waves. It was a perfect place to compose myself again, to get the pieces back together. It was very calm and quiet (also because it wasn't summer; few people every January).
I took the time to watch the sunrise and sunset and everything in between. It's the moments during short trips away that remind us to simply be and live in the here and now. I've learned to become more mindful and be present.
