Blood was rather surprised by her straightforwardness as it seemed that the whole day Alice had been a bundle of nerves. He was sure Vivaldi might have had something to do with this talk. She always did love to sneak her nose into their business, but admittedly it was often good that she did. âVery perceptive.â He sighed, his fake smile somehow remaining to stay intact.
âIâm not sure what you want me to say; you certainly should know what is bothering me, young lady.â No, he couldnât deny that it was because of her that he felt so distant at that moment. But despite his frustration he knew that the current Alice couldnât do much to solve the problem. Blood turned around and continued cutting stems. It made it a little easier to talk when he didnât have to face her, mostly out of pride, perhaps a little out of embarrassment.Â
âI appreciate the concern, but thereâs a few questions Iâd like to ask as well. I might beâŠmaybe not âokayâ, but more content if you answered them yourself. And you can ask whatever you wish to me as well.â Though that offer was already on the table.
âI canât ask you to help, because there is no way that you could, unless you remember something.â His gaze was downcast, and he lost himself in his work a little, accidentally cutting his finger with the blade of his scissors. He didnât even flinch. âBut tell me, could you see yourself living here at the Mansion? Do you like it here?â He remembered he asked this question in the past, though they were much closer then.
It doesn't take a genieus to figure out something isn't right with Blood. Just the way he is acting now compared to before told her that. Vivaldi just have her that gentle push to recognize it and want to do something about it. She's aware that it is her fault but doesn't know how she is supposed to fix it.
Eyes looking down at her feet and Alice starts to chew on her bottom lip, she feels unsure of how to respond because he is right. But what could she do? Without her memory, everything would feel as if it would be just an act and not meaningful. Sure, she could try her very best but Blood deserved better than an attempt.
When he admitted that he would feel more content if she answered some questions, Alice did light up. "I am more than happy to do what I can. I can't make any promises of course, but I still want to try." Anything is better than nothing if it's being honest and making an attempt. Unfortunately, his question did make her feel puzzled though.
"I -- ..." She stops herself, pushing her brows together. "I don't know. Let's say that I don't have any ties back home then perhaps I can because you have been very kind to me. Everyone has."
