C.A. Burke Booksellers is opening our doors to the public! Join proprietor Cossima. A. Burke as she celebrates a new business within the village of Rustberg, Tol Barad. Burke and Daughter Booksellers, LLC stood as a loyal and trusted business within the Lamp District of Gilneas City and has now been reopened under a name to reflect the change in ownership, but never the change in the quality of customer service, production, and inventory. C.A. Burke Booksellers will be offering printing and book production services, bookbinding and repair services, a large inventory in contemporary authors of fiction, and non-fiction, as well as a small library in order to service those that simply cannot add to their personal libraries. 

Join us for the opening celebration on Sunday (July 7th) from NOON (12pm PST/Server) until night has wrapped us in her embrace (8pm PST/Server). 

Throughout the day finger sandwiches, coffee, tea, and scones will be available. Please be advised to have patience at the opening as Cossima A. Burke is not only the proprietor but also the sole employee.

This is how you get a Safety Brief

It was a typical afternoon in Dalaran, Cheri had sent off her normal correspondence to various people around Azeroth. The usual, checking up on them, various well wishes for birthdays. Special events. The usual social niceties. An eye was cast to a small portrait, framed, of a small team of people. Herself. Cossima. ( @gothynerdmage ) and a few others, posing after a retrieval mission that had gone just right. But today, a very special package had arrived.  A team of colleagues, working in a rare instance with those from silvermoon had arrived at the Rift some days ago. She had heard rumors, but now, an artifact from the rift had been sent to her.  It had been...expensive, getting it to go straight to her, and not to the Kirin Tor specifically, but she had done it. Excited hands picked it up and took it to the inner sanctum of her small office, where it was placed upon a dias that radiated a malleable ‘bubble’ within the room that would keep anything *in* the bubble contained.  Usually, this would be followed by Cheri forming a protective bubble around herself in order to protect her as well from whatever was in the bubble, but today...she was excited. And it was supposed to be an inactive, drained artifact. What could go wrong? The package was unwrapped, and the  artifact revealed, it was a length of rock that resembled obsidian, the rock was cut into a primitive blade, chipped and jagged in places from use, and a handle wrapped with worn leather strips. “My my...and what is this?” She questioned the air.  A small quill hovered in the air with a scroll of parchment. Taking down the measurements of the artifact. Length, weight, apparent density by use of a utility spell...

But wait. Something was off. The density of the artifact itself did not jive with known density of most rock, magical or non magical.  Almost as if the rock had been formed around something. Overwhelming curiousity had overtaken caution now, years of training and common sense pushed aside as she began to slowly use magic to peel the rock away from the hidden object, layer by layer, the rock was dissolved via magic.

What she saw in those last few moments of lucidity, was a squirming blackness in the shape of a knife. A contained extract of void, that, once free of it’s artificial imprisonment sought to fill the space provided.  The bubble held, however her conciousness did not, the void filled her, threatened to consume her! And yet,  It was will power, and a bit of bargaining that overcame the void.   And when she awoke, she was surrounded by Kirin Tor mages. Looks of disgust where ocne there had been admiration. Banishment, from the only home she’d ever been known. Teleportation to a city of her choice. 

Long moments infront of a mirror, kept company by whispers in the night. A jagged knife hanging from a sheathe made from nothingness on her side.

Remembrence

 Silence swirled around the Quel'dorei, snow snapping at her legs like a vicious animal, all biting teeth and muted fury.  This was the uppermost reaches of Northrend, a place that greenery and life had seemingly never touched.  Before her lay the remains of the Nexus, ancient, abandoned home of the blue dragonflight, site of the eventual defeat of Malygos. It was a reflection of Northrend's current state. Important, in a memorialized way, abandoned to it's own devices whether for good, or ill.

 Cherithyrra picked her way down the frost covered rocks, a small grave site for those that had fought the Nexus War and had been torn asunder by arcane energies.  All around her, whisps of memory could be seen to those with the eyes to see it. Great blue dragons, long dead, fighting in the skies above the nexus....Mages piling magical knowledge against the innate magical talent of Dragonkind, a ghostly memory of a roar tearing through the air, breaking the spell of silence.

Padded boots carried her to the grave markers, to a pair that lay side by side permanently.  Syphirra and Detrontos Laremyr. Absentee Parents. Kirin Tor Magisters. Career academicians.  

Dead remnants of a race of remnants.
