But there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer.

People act according to the way they experience the world. If you can understand their experience, you can understand their behavior.

Its always good to know what to do when your baby is in danger.
This could save lives
I’m always hesitant when I hear the last one, because they actually suggest that for babies.
I don’t know if this is meant to be in order (A-D), but this is incorrect.
B would be first. Use a finger to sweep to the back of the throat. If you can feel/see the obstruction, the best course of action is to use your fingers to remove it.
If you cannot feel/see the obstruction, then start doing A AT THE SAME TIME YOU ARE DOING C. Do 5-7 compresses, pushing in at the stomach and then upward toward the middle of the chest cavity in a sweeping motion. Put down the dog and try doing B again. If you see/feel the obstruction, remove it. If not, repeat A & C until obstruction is removed.
D is VERY RARELY recommended for a choking dog.
And hopefully this goes without saying, but please keep the dog’s size in mind while doing the Heimlich maneuver. The force of a compression used on a Saint Bernard would very seriously injure a Chihuahua.
