You had heard about her all over Zaun. That she was a criminal, that she was bad, a person who caused constant disasters... but still, with so much talk about her, no one really knew her.
You didn't realise who she was until your assistant whispered in your ear that you should be careful with her. What kind of person was she?
She had come to your studio purely by chance on a stormy night. You had decided to stay in the studio that night to continue working until there was a knock on the door. You let her in even though the premises were closed because she had no roof to stay under, it wouldn't be so bad to give her shelter for a few hours, would it?
As you entered the building, with her head covered by her hood, Vi gave you a sidelong glance as she took in her surroundings. There were several (many) designs hanging on the walls, a small reception area in the foyer leading to a hallway with the main room.
"Are you a tattoo artist?" the pink-haired girl spoke for the first time. You liked her voice, despite her rough appearance, she sounded sweet. You nodded your head as you watched her curiously, watching as she surveyed the room. "I do. It wasn't long ago that I started" you spoke as you caught up with her steps and walked to where you were tattooing. She followed you with light, silent steps, still quiet, her hands in the pockets of her hoodie. She made a little "o" with her lips as you entered the room, decorated with pink neon lights, more designs hanging on the walls and a couple of stretchers.
You sat down on one of the couches and looked at her. She was standing in the middle of the room, not even saying anything, staring at you. You furrowed your eyebrows slightly and let out a sigh. "I know who you are," you spoke. "Shouldn't you be in jail?" you asked raising an eyebrow, looking at her in disbelief settling back on the couch. She sighed, taking off her wet jacket and setting it aside as she sat down next to you. "I ran away, isn't it obvious?" she asked in the same way. You let out a laugh as you stood up straight, looking her straight in the eyes. She wore smudgy eyeliner all over her eyelid, it perfectly matched her look with those pretty, bright blue eyes of hers. "I'm sorry. I admire you, it's not easy to escape from that blissful prison. I've never been locked up, I'm not as illegal as I look. I'm quite pacifist" you spoke in a mocking tone. She just made a sound, she didn't really seem to want to talk. You didn't even know if she was listening or cared what you were saying.
You clicked your tongue, and under her gaze, you stood up from the couch. "Do you have any tattoos?" you asked turning to look at her. She shook her head slightly, watching you. Her eyes were fixed on your neck, where a tattoo started behind your ear, going down your chest but disappearing because of the t-shirt that covered it up. On your hand you had another, running up your fingers in a vine. "And you want one?" you asked back. She looked up and her eyes met yours. You had a rather sweet smile painted on your lips. Never before had Vi seen such a sweet smile and one that would have made her heart beat a little faster. She nodded at your question, pursing her lips slightly. "Then stretch out on the gurney, I'll make you one" you mentioned turning around, walking over to the work area and starting to prepare everything you need. "I don't have anything to pay you with" you mentioned, your voice light. "You'll find a way to pay me, don't worry about it now," you said.
It took Vi a while to react, but she eventually agreed and lay down on the stretcher. As I watched you in silence, you already had your gloves on and your machine ready to go. "What would you like to get tattooed?" you asked, turning to her. She pursed her lips, and seemed to think a bit before answering. "A V and an I, under my eye, on my cheekbone" you made a slight grimace, bringing your finger to touch in the area. "Uh, are you sure? That would hit right on the bone, it's kind of a sore spot" you said smiling a little nervously, but Vi didn't care. She asked you to go ahead. You couldn't refuse your client's request, so drawing a sketch of those two simple letters on a piece of paper beforehand, she eventually agreed.
After preparing her, you started tattooing her. He grimaced slightly as he felt the ink needle on his skin, biting his lip a little. Although the line was thin and the tattoo wasn't particularly large, you were right that it would hurt a little as it was right on her cheekbone. "Why six?" you asked in concentration as you ran the needle across his skin, avoiding the freckles. You thought those little spots the girl had above the bridge of her nose, spreading across her cheeks, looked cute, somehow, they made her look cute. "Six?" she raised an eyebrow as she looked at you, grimacing slightly. "Don't move your face or the tattoo will get ruined" you warned, grumbling a little with a chuckle as you watched her face relax again. "And yes, six. Your tattoo. It's in Roman numerals, isn't it?" you mentioned. "It's Vi. My name. That's what my sister called me... and my friends" she answered with a nostalgic, melancholic tone. You didn't want to ask, it seemed to be a serious subject for her, you didn't want to make her uncomfortable, even though now you knew her name. Vi. was it a nickname? Vivian? Vicky? Victoria? "Violet. That's my name" you smiled instantly upon hearing it. "That's a nice name" you mentioned still with that smile on your face. The other smiled back at the sight of you. You had an infectious smile, and a very nice one at that. "Relax your face" you warned with a chuckle, and she had to listen immediately if she didn't want her tattoo to be ruined.
Finally, a few minutes later you finished tattooing and healing her, and setting the tools aside, you held up a mirror for her. She looked at herself, and lifting the corners of her mouth slightly, nodded. "I like it" she said as she saw the black ink on her cheekbone. "I'm glad" you mentioned removing your gloves. You explained how he should heal it, to be careful of the sun and to keep it covered for a couple of days, and after the explanation, you both stood there without saying much. "The storm has stopped," you mentioned as you realised you could no longer hear the rain falling. She nodded back, sitting up and getting off the stretcher to stand up and grab her sweatshirt. "I should be going now. I still insist I should pay you though," she mentioned. You shook your head, still sitting in your chair. "For starters, you can make yourself comfortable, you're sleeping here tonight. And finally, the tattoo is a gift from the house, don't insist on paying for it" you said as you stood up. You approached her, standing face to face as you looked at her. You noticed the scars on her face, you thought about how she could have gotten them, probably fighting, she was famous for it after all. "Why are you doing all this for me?" Vi said in a whisper. You let out a chuckle as you shrugged. "I guess I'll take the opportunity to get to know you better" you winked at her before dropping a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it lightly. "See you tomorrow, Vi. Get some rest."
