Grinning at him, it’s easy to take the hesitant grip in stride, and whether she notes the lingering look to the bag or not, she doesn’t comment on it. Instead she hitches it higher on her shoulder and gives his arm a squeeze in reassurance– whether he needs it or not, sometimes she knows the sentiment is a nice one, at least. “If it helps, I’ve probably done this sort of thing more often than you have in my lives, so… don’t think too much about it!” Laughing gently, she bumps her shoulder against his as they take off at an easy walk, shaking her head. “Don’t be silly– I volunteered to help, after all! Besides, the longer and more involved this kind of thing, the bigger the rewards, usually! I have a notebook too, in case we need to take notes.” Something electronic might seem like the better choice for that, but really– she was a bit of a traditionalist when it came to this sort of thing.
“I’ll watch my step.” Picking her way carefully along beside him, she keeps her eyes flickering toward the floor now and again as she keeps up her stride. “So– what exactly is it we’re going to be doing, fearless leader?”
YEAH WELL. I’M NOT SURE IF THE REWARDS ARE GOING TO REALLY BE IMMEDIATELY OR EVER TANGIBLE BUT IF WE’RE GOING TO BE STUCK IN THIS PLACE, I’M AT LEAST GOING TO TRY TO MAKE IT WORK ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
[ You do the stupidest of hops over a surprisingly tall cinderblock, becoming a bit frustrated when the venture leaves your pants splashed with mud and god knows what. The attempt to remain calm boils down to screaming in frustration only once, making a few bipeds down the tunnel jump in surprise. You collect yourself as best as possible. ]

BASICALLY, WE’RE SNOOPING AROUND FOR HOLES IN THE SYSTEM. AND WITH AS MUCH AS THESE SCIENTIST GUYS SEEM TO FUCK UP, I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF THERE WERE A FEW.
