Sheridan Elizabeth Moore was born into a strict catholic family in South Carolina, a father who was a pastor and a mother who hosted bible studies twice weekly in their home.

Despite the atmosphere she was raised in, there had been a spark of wild to her from the day she was born, a spark her parents worked tirelessly to dim.

There had also always been a natural talent for the arts and praise often only came at the sight of her sketches from both parents and teachers alike, that was until her drawings began involving romance or worse yet, romantic situations between members of the same sex.

Her parents worked to overwhelm her time with anything church related they could in order to clear whatever sinful thoughts were plaguing her mind and it seemed to work for some time. 

When she was fifteen, however, she began getting involved with a boy who was somewhat new to the town. The male was the only person in her life to not only acknowledge the pieces of her that the world wished to repress, but encouraged her to follow and act upon them, allowing her to find herself and happiness for the first time in her life, slowly rebelling further from who her parents wanted her to be. 

At sixteen, a supposed day trip to visit relatives ended up being her parents excuse to drop her at a strict Catholic boarding school, states away, after her mother had found a positive pregnancy test hidden in the trash. A test she hadn’t even gotten the opportunity to talk to the male about.

In the beginning, she acted out; putting less than appropriate sketches onto the walls, using scissors to cut her clothing into more revealing pieces and when scissors were taken, using a kitchen knife to saw off almost the entirety of her hair, all on top of three attempts at running away. Every defiant act was met with punishment and as she began to give up on getting out of the place, as her hope began to fade and stresses of being unable to see or talk to the one person that mattered increased, she ended up having a miscarriage after eleven weeks of pregnancy. 

The next two years were dark ones, she lost her muse and her will, carrying on most days as if she was on auto pilot, the only thing keeping her going being the day she could graduate and get home to the male. When the day finally came, however, she found that he had left the town and that she had no way of knowing where he had gone or how to get in contact with him. 

Her parents refused to accept her back, not that she wanted to be there anyway and she was left on her own, no money and no belongings and no place to go. 

With no other options, she decided to hitchhike, to find a place besides the one she had always known. She ended up catching a ride with a male just a year her elder, also running from the world he had known and the two landed in New York at an LGBTQ shelter where they worked to create a life for themselves, finding employment and when able, a place to live that they could call their own.

(This is where Cherry becomes very open for plots. I had a thought of her possibly getting a job or two and when she starts drawing again after a year or two, someone from one of these places acknowledges her talent and that’s where things kind of take off for her. No decision on what state or location she’d be in for any of this so please feel free to hit me with ideas.)

As of two weeks ago, Cherry currently resides in apartment 2E on the Golden Property, she’s an illustrator, most well known for her artwork depicting romance and sexual exploration especially in the form of LGBTQ+ couples. However, you may also find her work in anything from commissions, collaborations or posters she’s designed for protests.

Have you been back down to check in a while?”

Cherry practically chokes on the liquid she’s in the process of swallowing, an attempt to stifle laughter that would have otherwise joined the continuous string of the sound coming from the two of them, this time due to her companions suggestion. "That is an absolutely horrible idea. Alcohol thins your blood and judging by the amount of giggles coming from you at this point? You, baby, are nearing water and I don’t think I’m far behind you.” Her gaze flickers briefly to the gentle touch and her tongue is pressing firmly into her cheek, searching for resolve. “Why don’t you let me sketch it up for you so it’s saved and when we’ve sobered up, I can put ink to skin, yeah?”

Hazel hues lifted at the greeting, a smile dancing it’s way onto her features, offering a soft ‘yes?’ in response to the strangers question. Her hand outstretched, taking the envelope presented and allowing her eyes to scan the recipients name before shaking her head. “I’m afraid not. There’s someplace here you can leave them, no? Or just write wrong address on the outside of the envelope and hope they take it when they come back? Or worse...possibly best case scenario, you could go up the elevator and yell through the halls? I’m sure we could get a night full of some interesting events that way.”

“Is it a shitty fake?” Were it for tone alone, it would be easy to assume her words had been genuine rather than sarcastic, but as the femme turned, a playful smile indenting the sides of her face, it was clear such was not the case. “Have you tried a different store? Or perhaps asking one of the lawless heathens running around this place to grab you something? And by lawless heathen, I may be referring to myself.”

Despite the chill of the New York air at this hour, her feet were bare as they landed on the roof top, hazel hues examining the sight of chaos around her as employees worked to set up for the upcoming event. It seemed a stark change for what, in her experience, had been an otherwise quiet roof top - but of course, she had only been there all of two weeks, which meant it was possible that she knew very little as to what the norm truly was. It wasn’t until the femme spotted the one person hanging to the side of things that she noted her reason for coming here in the first place might not be in vain, the fabric of her velour robe dancing around her ankles as she approached. “You wouldn’t happen to have a light, would you?” A hand removed itself from where it had been concealed in her pocket, revealing a carefully wrapped blunt and offering a grin that spoke only of trouble. “Unless you’re afraid of getting in trouble, of course.”

        eyes glued on the clock, marley was counting down the moments until she could officially lock the doors. the small diner closed in five minutes ( four minutes and thirty three seconds, to be exact ) and although the cook had gone home already, she was stuck with closing duty. normally, she would close up anyways and go home, but the owner, mr. kaiser, had freaked out at her the last time she had done it.

the small bell that hung overhead jingled lightly and marley’s heart dropped. she briefly considered turning around, telling them the diner was closed and to come back tomorrow. but she refrained. instead, she put on her best customer service smile and turned around, ‘ welcome ! ‘ she greeted, gesturing to the open bar in front of her and fishing her notepad and pen out of her apron, ‘ what can i get started for you ? ‘ @hqg-starts·

It wasn’t the first time Cherry had done this to herself and she was certain it wouldn’t be the last, getting too wrapped up in whatever piece she was working on and allowing the world around her to fade until she had fallen collapsed from a lack of sleep or worse - made herself sick from going without food for too long. It wasn’t as if she was attempting to do herself wrong, simply that her artwork took her into a different world and she often lost track of both time and reality. Which is why she was strolling into the dinner at the late hour, only having bothered to throw an over-sized coat over her lounge wear rather than getting changed. 

“Hi.” She beamed as she approached the bar, removing her coat now that she beyond the New York chill. “Something absolutely horrible for me that I’ll regret eating in the morning preferably. Perhaps a burger with enough grease to kill me? Or just a loaded-with-sugar doughnut and a cup of coffee? I swear I’m not picky.” Her words were only half a joke, too hungry to much care what was entering her system at that point so long as it made the sickening feeling of emptiness disperse. “Are you usually busier this time of night or am I truly the one crazy that’s out eating dinner while the rest of New York is sleeping?”

arin had been out of the dating scene for long enough that at this point stepping back in felt like work. and yet, she’d let her boss talk her into a date with a friend of his. ‘really, you’ll get along great!’, he’d said, and arin, like an idiot, had let herself be talked into the set-up. which is how she found rushing into a restaurant fifteen minutes late, already regretting wearing platforms, and quickly scanning the tables for the person she was meeting.

the hostess greeted her and, when told she was meeting someone for a blind date, told her that they were in the bar area. when arin spotted the only person sitting alone she thanked the hostess, took a deep breath to steady herself, and approached the table.

“ hi! james’ friend, right? ” she asked, smiling and hoping she didn’t look too nervous.

It was quite possible that she looked sad or even crazy, seated in the middle of a restaurant on her lonesome this late in the evening, especially so close to Valentine’s day - but there was a special human interaction that she enjoyed witnessing, enjoyed putting onto paper. A pencil moved almost rhythmically along her sketchbook as eyes traveled between the work and a couple seated just across the way, an effort to perfect the smile that was painted onto the woman’s face as the two laughed. It wasn’t until a voice entered the air around her that Cherry’s attention seemed to drift for the first time in a solid twenty minutes, actions halting and gaze flickering to the newfound face. "I don’t believe so.” Though as soon as she spoke the words, there was an air of hesitation, poster straightening as she examined the area around them in concern that the other was attempting to dissuade someone else’s presence. “Unless you need me to be James’ friend. In which case, I am his closest and most trusted confidant.”
