I wanted to make some updates on my art commissions. I’ve switched to using this 5x7” cotton paper, I love the texture of it :). All pieces will have gold detailing and are painted with watercolor and gouache. Price starts at $50.

Today I did a small water change and trimmed the hairgrass clumps as well as some melting leaves off the pennywort. Sadly that and the pearlgrass didn’t arrive in great shape. I’m hoping they can pull through. The banana lily is putting out these long white roots and a new leaf! Shrimps have been loving their new scape lol

My banana leaves are not looking too good ☹️ I was told to just let it be since everything else is growing fine. I think i need to add root tabs, i cant remember the last time i put some in 😅 also seeing some tiny algae spots on my glass which is probably due to my high nitrates and lack of stem plants…and high light lol. I’m gonna do a nice water change soon and I have more plants coming in the mail so i shall just be patient. Also decided on the gla dry ferts

Yesterday I went to petco to see what kind of plants they had. I usually prefer to order online from better companies but I was too excited to get the tank running again I didn’t want to wait 5 business days for an order! 😭 not surprisingly they had a pretty piss poor selection of dead rotted plants in tubes. I scored some nice tissue cultures of dwarf hairgrass and staurogyne repens, as well as a good looking banana plant from the betta section! I’ve been wanting a cute little banana plant for ages. Overall I was happy to come home with some healthy looking plants!

I placed an online order from an ebay seller for some pearlweed, pennywort, and some red plant I thought looked pretty ☺️ Now i need to settle on a fertilizer. My new concept for this tank is a dwarf hairgrass carpet with pearlweed bushes in the background, pennywort for midground. A touch of red somewhere 🤔 i want the s. Repens to look like a little jungle in the rocks ☺️

I am blasting the lights and refilled my co2 tank. Lots of mulm in the substrate and shrimps are loving the plant additions.

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update. My nerites and betta died and now only the neos remain. I want to revamp it but dont have a place to put the shrimp, so I turned the lights off permanently and have just been leaving it alone. I was having algae issues but it all eventually cleared up beautifully on its own from the lack of light. My monte carlo doesnt appreciate it but idc right now. If the shrimps r happy im happy.

These are photos from a week or two ago. First one is more recent tho. Unfortunately Thebe’s health seems to be declining. He stopped wanting to eat about 3 days ago and has been acting lethargic. His parameters are 0,0,5 for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and temp was raised from 78 to 80. Im going to give him a potassium permanganate bath tomorrow. Will keep updated.

I spent $15 on a tiny jar of baby brine shrimp and Thebe wasn’t interested 🙃 he loves the bug bites and frozen bloodworms but I wanted to vary his diet a little more. He doesn’t like the adult frozen brine shrimp either.

I started growing this monte carlo from my tank sometime in august and look how much it’s grown since then!! Omg. All this time I thought they were dying until i compared the photos.
