fish-creation-process photos under the cut!
Baby. She doesn't even have her tail yet. This first picture is at least a week into the process already, since the base cup was wheel thrown and then had to dry enough to trim and attach things to.
I drew a couple of different eyes options on the pictures in my phone so I could send them to my girlfriend and her girlfriend for their opinions. we decided on just poking tiny divots into the rim for the eyes
Next she had to dry out completely before firing
Fired and ready to glaze, (along with appearances from my penguin/kiwi and the headless creature I don't think i've shown off here) This was at least another week later, probably more to dry out completely and then wait its turn to be fired.
Glazed and set back by the kilns. Another week wait and to hope I cleaned off the underside well enough that she won't stick to the kiln shelf in her second firing
Aaaand she's done. it took 3-4 weeks of real life time to make her, I hope she makes you happy like she does me 💜🐟
