Hello! My name is Cheshire, though most people call me Ches. My pronouns are she/they, and I'm currently a college student studying creative writing.

My main goal as a writer is to create the queer representation that I always wanted to see growing up, and what that means for different people. I mostly dabble in fantasy and horror, or anything that catches my eye, honestly, and this blog is mostly to ramble about that!

Anyone has blanket permission to tag me on things or send asks! this goes for things like worldbuilding wednesday, storyteller saturday, or other events!

WRITING PROMPTS - Ghost

Ghosts can die, and they are reborn as angels or demons.

"I swear I saw a ghost!"

The deceased divorced parents of an orphan haunt their child together.

"Haunt me. I dare you."

A ghost falls in love with a zombie.

"Boo!"

The zombie apocalypse ends when ghosts realise they can possess their own shambling corpses.

"Oh, sweetheart. I died a long time ago, and I will linger forever."

writers, you can and should be proud of your fic even if you personally are not satisfied with it. because even if you think it's "not good", you can be proud of the fact that you wrote it and it's something you created. you can be proud of the fact it's not ai.

First thing’s first… AI generated content is remarkably unpopular.

Almost all of you believe that human provenance is a must. (And we couldn’t agree more.)

This one came as a bit of a shock: nearly half of all respondents felt their work could be mistaken for AI.

And almost all of you (99.5%) think AI content should be clearly labeled.

Thank you to the thousands of writers who took the time to complete the survey. Together, you wrote over 500,000 words—that’s a heck of a mighty tome! You can read the full report over on our blog.

The most frustrating experience as a writer is having a clear vision in your mind of the story you want to tell but being too afraid to put pen to paper for fear of failing to do the story justice. I’m so scared that my actual execution will fail to meet my expectations that I’m paralysed to even start.

"there is no platonic explanation for this--"

I fell asleep in my friends' arms. It was eleven at night, we were tired, curled up in a small pile on my tiny bed. I had my head buried in my roommate's side, and one of my closest friend's hand on my shoulder, steadying me. It was quiet and nothingness and peace and their heartbeats in my ears, my hands in their hair.

"there is no platonic explanation for this--"

We pack four people to that little bed, you know. Laps used as footrests, collarbones as pillows, little lights like moonlight in rustic yellow bathed on their faces. The TV plays an anime. The words are repeated by my dear friend on my shoulder, curled close. My legs are asleep; my roommate may be, too.

The cat curls on top of our criss cross mess of legs and arms and heads on chests to absorb the warmth of us all. She purrs in contented peace. When my roommate and I are left alone in the quiet, she cries, and watches the door for our friends' return.

I will never kiss them but the top of their heads. I will never touch but the warmth of their arms. I will never take more than what's freely given, and in return I put my glasses on the bedside table fashioned from a guitar amp, and when I lean into their sides, I pick up my vulnerability and place it in their capable, tender hands.

I sing for them. I cry for them. I work and I run and I withstand the worst of the world for them, because some days I get to cradle their forehead on my shoulder and some days I get to see their shining eyes.

Maybe to you. But look beyond explanation. I love them. With my heart in my unsteady hands, with my nose pressed to the side of their head, with the buzzing in my feet and the warmth all around Iike the sunset pushing into the window.

Is it enough to say I love them? With no strings attached? With reckless abandon and utter devotion and freedom and kindness and fear?

I cannot explain it any clearer. I love my friends. There is no more to say.
