What IS this?
CHESSMEN is a collaborative, open world-building project for people who enjoy at least a few of the following: surrealism, post-apocalypses, thoughtful worldbuilding, weird biology, character interaction, intelligent politics, war stories, the human soul, and, of course, chess pieces. Anyone is welcome to make characters, add something new to the world, illustrate, or write scenes and stories that take place in it. The lore is ever developing and the stories overlapping, like a collection of concurrent AUs all in simultaneous existence. We only ask that any contributions be made respectfully and thoughtfully. RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
Be respectful. Assert boundaries politely and respect boundaries politely as well. Be chill or the Czar will execute you personally. 1a. If someone asks you to stop doing something with a character or story they made, stop.
Kindly leave real-world commentary and grievances at the door. You can talk about your personal goings on but please be polite and reasonable.
Ensure that all discussion is civilized and focused on creation. We do like "Yes, and" here and all levels of writing are accepted. We aren't here to write masterpieces, we're here to have fun, throw things in a pot and see what comes out. If you can't be non-critical or encouraging to people of all skill levels, this isn't the project for you.
This is an 18+ community with a couple of grandfathered exceptions. There will be mature themes, but we are not interested in explicit NSFW.
