the air, she now realized, was evidently COOLER than it was moments ago and it was definitely right on time since she personally wouldnât know if she would be able to hold on with the trekking a little longer, had the sun be up and scorching just like how itâs used to be in the summery days in corsica. but nonetheless, it was safe to say that myra was WELL PLEASED by the way that their hiking have turned out so far. she already have expected for things to come out this way especially since she was with a good friend like skye ( as if she had other friends whom she would undoubtedly consider âgoodâ ) and now, she was hoping that they could do the same thing again sometime since it definitely helped let her, for once, let loose from the binds that her work would often burden her and it was refreshing to be out and in touch with the nature â especially if her company appreciates it just as much as she does.
looking further without straining her eyes the way she would when they were still so far from the peak, myra could make out a more PLANE-LIKE terrain which she figured was the end of the trail ( unless her eyes were making her see things that wasnât even there ) and she heaved yet another sigh that only signified her relief that their hiking was coming to an end. she could feel the weariness on her leg muscles now and her shirt, sticking on her front and back because of the sweat but it didnât bother her in any way, not when her mind was preoccupied by the thought of finally being sat on a proper chair somewhere in the bar that skye was referring to. she will have the time to change clothes later on anyway, so it wasnât much of a dilemma for her. hearing his words, myra found herself laughing along with him, as if his laughter itself was a c o n t a g i o u s disease that it was impossible not to laugh whenever she would hear it, before she would turn to him to speak. âunderstandable. we have been hiking for what? two or three hours? i think itâs normal and about time for your stomach to complain and growl, skye.â
it didnât take long until the woman realized what his next words meant ( being inexplicably sharp when it comes to getting the underlying message in jokes that men would often say ) and her eyebrows only had to furrow as she gaped at him, unsure whether to laugh or scold him. but she understood his humor, something that she learned to comprehend after years of being around him, and knew that if she were to scold him, it was certain that he wouldnât take it in a bad way. âi canât believe you just cracked a penis joke.â the words were out before she would even permit them to slip from her lips but the supposed scolding was then neutralized by the laugh that followed right after. âgod, you r e a l l y need to eat because if thereâs one thing that could tell people how hungry you are, thatâd be when you start cracking penis jokes that, otherwise, i wouldnât get if we havenât been around each other for too long,â she uttered in between soft laughs. âi feel like i should start being concerned for myself at this point because iâm starting to know how to decode you probably better than anyone else.âÂ
it was that sentence -- iâm starting to know how to decode you probably better than anyone else -- that gave him an ABRUPT pause. he held his breath for a moment, eyes cast downward, sidestepping various components of natureâs debris littered on the trail as he reconsidered her words. the circumstances of their meeting, the years since, and the myriad of ways they were both alike & unalike mulled along his train of thought. it was STRANGE, really, the fact that heâd grown to see her as a genuine friend -- a person whom heâd regard with great respect, and whom heâd go so far as to say he had a closer bond with than most -- given the certainty he had that... well, if he hadnât been literally introduced to her by her boyfriend ( that is to say, if sheâd been single ), skye probably never would have wanted to be JUST FRIENDS with her.
as he exhaled a second later, he stole a glance at myra -- remembering his earlier thoughts atop the peak, remembering the breeze in her hair -- and that was another fact he reconsidered: his attraction to her. or whether or not that was something to even be reconsidering. STRANGER STILL was the disappointing reality that the only reason he hadnât seen her as an object of desire initially, was due to the fact that sheâd been in a relationship -- and with his friend, nonetheless. a pathetic thought, surely, but it was a thought that occurred to him either way. had the circumstances been different, would their friendship have developed in the same way? would they be where they were now? skye had never looked at her with ulterior intentions, nor had he ever regarded her in... that way. yet he couldnât ignore the realization that he felt retrospectively GRATEFUL that theyâd been given the opportunity to be friends -- the plethora of paths their relationship could have taken was a dizzying thought to ponder. it all boiled down to the c o n d i t i o n s of whence they first met. if skye had attempted to hit on her, she wouldnât have given him the time of day. & doing so now was something laughable... right?
â thatâs... a mild LET-DOWN. i like to keep at least a few cards up my sleeve, rather than laying everything out on the table, â he chuckled in response. â maybe itâs a sign that i need more friends. â

Brooke couldnât help the blush that rose on her cheeks at the smirk that formed on his lips. Though, it very well could have been his presence in general that had her blushing â sheâd never one to be exactly stable with her actions around the male. She blamed it on her generic awkwardness, but also the fact that, wellâ look at him. It wasnât as if sheâd never come across someone handsome in her life before, oh several times she had, and several times sheâd made a fool of herself, so. Acting like her blushing, stumbling self around Skye was no different â except for the fact that she wanted to keep talking to him on most occasions but she didnât know how.
She looked down as Cleo moved to sniff Charlie hello, a slight giggled tumbling over her lips as Charlie â always over-eager â settled beside Cleo, panting, tail wagging in excitement. Her pup was quite the opposite to her, an over-exaggerated personality, always on the ball. Looking down at Skye though as he began to speak, she dropped her mouth open at his accusation, eyes widening marginally. Nowâ if it had been anyone else, an almost stranger whoâd said that she probably wouldâve scuttled away. But heâd been teasing her since day dot, and Brooke was⊠well, trying â for the lack of a better word â to be more sociable ( especially around the cute water sports guy, as sheâd been dubbing him on her own ). âDo you really believe Iâm the kind smart enough to figure out someones dog-walking route?â she questioned, teasing, but the blush rose on her cheeks anyway. âI would never follow someoneâ I like to think Iâm more classy than that,â she smiled sheepishly before cringing, knowing how cheesy she sounded. Oh the tragedy of being a mess in front of cute people. So, she pouted, dropping to the ground herself to pet Cleo behind the ear.
he couldnât help but laugh, though he wasnât sure what exactly induced it ; be it her actual quips or their mere delivery -- the chastened smile that happened upon her lips, the blush that crept, once more, beneath her expression. brooklyn was a single, pink rose: budding and blooming ; never quite red, too subtle and SUBDUED ; never quite relaxed, either. albeit, perhaps she didnât carry the e l e g a n c e her outward appearance might suggest, as she knelt adjacent to him with a pout. it was too early for him to judge. â i think youâre smarter than you give yourself credit for, â he countered, sparing her a prolonged glance before returning his attention back to charlie, a smile still evident on his lips.
the midmorning warmth felt steady, COOL with the occasional breeze that ruffled leaves & tousled the loose locks of hair framing skyeâs face. resting a knee on the pavement, he pulled a hair tie from around his wrist to section half of his hair off and tie it up. his gaze swept back to brooklyn then, studying her features to gauge the potential answer to his forthcoming question. cleo panted, leaned into brookeâs hand, and skye noted absently that her golden locks were due for a trim --- the dog, not brooke. of course. his voice, when it came, was slightly muffled. with the band between his teeth as his fingers worked, he spoke, â i was just on my way to go get some coffee, if you wanna come with us? â

ă  REYA ă  Nah he actually kidnapped me⊠yes, Skye, I made it home fine lmao ă  REYA ă  Thatâs because youâre an uncool, old man⊠youâll warm up to the idea eventually. Which means this is NOT the last time you and I go out for a night out on the town. Iâm not giving up on you.Â
ă  SKYE  ă  Lol sux 4 u then ă  SKYE  ă  Idk it might be the last. Like you said, I am a uncool, old man⊠. When I was your age all we had for fun was hopscotch and the sock hope. ă  SKYE  ă  Hop.      â  M Y R A â â
rolling her eyes both at the sound of satisfaction in his voice and the grin that he had etched on his face, myra then said: âwow, you made me want to take back my own words.â perhaps, things will always be like this for the two of them: banters, random stories, the parental talks regarding their own children and laughter that somehow, for some reasons, skye never ceases to induce her. it came to the point wherein she would consider all these things as part of the special BOND that somehow always existed between the two of them ; one thing that, despite some of their differences, pulled them together and became the foundation of their unexpected yet strong friendship that doesnât seem to be fading away anytime soon.
she wanted to say something clever, one that she somehow was always used to doing, but as soon as his words finished and she was given enough moment to register them in her mind, she found herself being suddenly LOSS FOR WORDS. it seemed to her that skye was the only man who can beautifully merge an insult and a genuine, straight from the heart, compliment in one whole sentence and he never ceases to surprise her whenever one would come slipping from his lips. gone was the thought of prolonging the banter and the redhead only found herself turning to him with bright eyes ( something that somehow only shows when sheâs in his company, his daughterâs or herâs ) and a sweet, genuine smile that tugged the corners of her lips before she averted her gaze and followed the direction where he was looking at.
as she looked at the scenic view that stretched before them, she immediately felt as if she was looking at an artwork ; a MASTERPIECE which canvas was the world itself, giving her a new perspective in things and a new definition to the word âbeautyâ. keen green eyes scanned the horizon as her smile ( which was momentarily there to show her gratitude to his compliment ) widened until it reached her eyes, creating faint wrinkles on the corners of her eyes which only showed when she was genuinely happy. âmagnifique,â she found herself whispering, seemingly forgetting that she had a company, before she then turned to him. âmaybe i really do need to go outside more often because CLEARLY,â she paused, nodding towards the view before she went on. âiâm missing out on a lot of things,â her dainty smile was still showing as she spoke before she averted her gaze from the skyline to look back at the trail they still needed to walk through. âwell, letâs put an end to this hike, shall we?âÂ
â ouais, â he smiled, giving a slight nod in agreement, though both of their attention had been directed toward the sunset. he let the moment suspend for a few seconds, though time always stretched, e l a p s e d in different ways in the midst of MARVEL. the upturn of his lips induced both from the sight & sound of her french slipping out softened as he spoke, volume just above a whisper â a BREATH LET OUT. â trĂšs magnifique. â he stared for a little while longer â watching boats sailing into the marina,  various swimmers coming in as the tide rose, throngs of people crowding around bars â before time snapped back into place with the intake of one sharp breath, notes of humidity filling his lungs. with that, he clapped his hands & turned back to his company. â letâs do it. â
as the two continued on their trek ( a suitable word, considering he was beginning to feel the start of FATIGUE in his thighs ), he adjusted the straps on his backpack and looked at her. the curve of the hill, having been steadily sloping upwards for the first two hours of the hike, had begun a gradual descent â a relief for them both, he was sure, & a hint that itâll soon end. theyâd timed it perfectly, in fact. or he had, at least. considering the ISLAND HEAT was growing more and more subdued as the night approached, and that they got a decent workout in at peak hours, skye felt a certain satisfaction. hard work & reward, and all that. â â after you mentioned burgers, all i can think about is how hungry i am. and iâm glad weâre getting a move on, âcause i donât know much longer i can hold it, â he laughed lightly. and just like that, the banter was back â if only because heâd felt something heavy settle in the atmosphere. when it came to skye & personal moments, or anything involving certain extents of s e n t i m e n t a l i t y, his will couldnât withstand itself for very long. he always grew shy. just then, sharing that bit of silence with his friend, felt long enough for him. â i might have to stop to take a leak off on the side of the trail, but⊠i went to the chiropractor the other day and he told me i shouldnât be lifting heavy things for a while. â
     â   M Y R A â â
âbe a good egg and let me have my moment, alright?â at this point, myra was merely messing around just so they could keep their banter rolling. there was something about the sight of the sundown, along with the smell of green grass that clung in the cool air which was mixed with the scent of the salt in the sea that surrounded the island, that made the jokes exchanged between the two of them seem REFRESHING than they already were. perhaps, she liked hiking after all or maybe, she just liked the company that she have at the moment since the previous hiking experiences she had in the past were ones that, for her, were NEVER worth reminiscing ( especially since most of them includes her ex; whose face she wanted to forget so badly ).
she let out a dramatic sigh of relief at his response, wanting nothing more than to be done with the hiking so both of them can eat, drink and just rest. âat least, thatâs good news. hopefully, the food they serve are satisfactory or i might end up just eating biscuits,â she humored before bring her hands to her hair to fix the now-loose ponytail that she have. âCOMPUNCTION is just basically a different term for âconscienceâ, silly. sorry for using the weird words that i picked up from some of the articulate people at the bureau â itâs like some sort of disease within the law enforcement when you meet people who graduated with phds and youâre forced to catch up with their vocabularies,â she rambled on before tightening her second attempt of ponytail while she noted his last words. âbullying? is that how weâll call this now? iâm bullying the g r e a t skye chevallier?âÂ
as condescending as her words may have sounded to the untrained ear, skye knew myra held no ill intent. in truth, around her, he always felt more ACUTELY CONSCIOUS of how uneducated he was â always average, never above, when it came to his marks in school ; furthermore never having pursued any academia past a high school diploma. whatever poetic or cultured persona he had, was something heâd cultivated over his years as an artist â and even that was something heâd never say aloud. he probably wouldnât have the right words. WORDS, it seemed, could do so little compared to stunning visuals. as the pair crested the slope of the hill, skye looked out over the horizonâs spilling colors, an overflow of pinks, oranges, purples, and reds. he smiled absentmindedly at myraâs upheaval of a sigh, nodding slightly along in agreement to her voice. â WELL. thank you for the vocabulary lesson, hansen. â
he turned after a moment to look at her, listening once more as she spoke & watching as she reached up to fix her hair. the sunset â all those colors, in all their tranquility â overwhelmed her face, and he noted that. W I S H E D, even, that he was a painter, as he beheld the various values: the flush in her cheeks from hiking up to the peaks ; the pink s h a d o w s from the sunlight, hollowing out her cheekbones ; the alarming red of her hair, somehow more shocking in its effervescence. the husk of her voice even seemed to tote a deeper note of allure to it, painted in purple, than before.
â iâm gonna take the fact that you just called me â great â as a compliment, â he grinned, hands raising to grip the straps of his backpack & tuck back a strand of hair thatâd come loose from his half-up bun. â and iâm gonna return it â and your relentless bullying, yes â and iâm gonna pay it forward by saying that you actually look really beautiful, myra. sweat & all. you should get outside more often ; nature suits youâ takes away from the pinched up look everyone in law enforcement gets, from having a stick so far up their ass. CHECK IT OUT. â with that, he gestured out to the ocean, nodding his chin toward the skyline.

raina had felt long ago that the manâs eyes were continuously on her. however, she hoped that if she stuck close enough to skye, it would deter him from making any kind of advances. unfortunately for her, she always had shitty luck and got stuck with the worst of the worst. at this point, sheâd long since begun thinking that maybe she was a magnet for this kind of shit. however, she was a little more relieved that she was with someone whoâd gone through this with her before. all it took was one slide of her hand on his for him to instantly fall into the role of her significant other. however, as she heard him speak, the brunette could only snort aloud.Â
âhe says that to everyone we run across. he thinks itâs funny. â rainaâs hand crept towards the back of his neck as she began to massage it. âbut he knows deep down no one would put up with his very weird and disturbing fetishes. when he says ball and chain, he means it literally. we have a ball and a chain, you donât want to know where it goes â trust me.â
â um, because it is, â he just managed to interject before rainaâs next words came -- and skye nearly SPIT out his drink. even as heâd raised the bottle of beer to his lips, heâd known to take a sip at that moment wouldâve been a poor choice, as proved not a moment afterward. he coughed, bringing his free hand to cover his mouth, to both clear his airways and stifle an oncoming laugh. one look at the stranger told skye, for a moment, that he saw past the bullshit, understood the sarcasm being used to ward off his advances. and skye stared at him for a second or more, watching the manâs internal struggle ( he did a shit job of hiding his thought process, given the bit of news heâd just received ) -- flickering back and forth between whether to call them out on it or to just extract himself from the situation altogether. skyeâs eyes glanced down, noticing for the first time the manâs hand hovering over rainaâs arm, before speaking, â but weâre always interested in voyeurism. i like to watch her use it on other men, and you just might be the candidate to beat -- literally. â
     â   M Y R A --- ---
âcreep?â her eyebrows furrowed as she repeated the word while her mind formed yet another teasing remark for him. âarenât you already one of those, skye?â myra said jokingly before a soft chuckle escaped her lips. there doesnât seem to be a dull moment between the two of them and even though she was well aware that most of their CONVERSATIONS consisted of ninety-percent bantering, myra knew that she wouldnât want anyone else receiving the other end of this friendship than skye. it didnât matter that they were introduced THROUGH her dreadful ex nor did she let the fact that skye and her ex used to be the best of friends affect her and skyeâs friendship. over the years, myra learned to NEVER associate nor compare a man like skye to her ex especially since they differ from each other â the simple fact that skye was there for his daughter already says a lot.
as they continued to walk side by side, myraâs eyes squinted while she gazed onto the trail before them and SILENTLY prayed that it doesnât stretch farther than how it appears now. turning to him at the sound of his words, myra only had to give him a nod, the idea of having a drink somewhere â or just plain resting â was appealing to her since her legs were on the verge of giving up. âyeah, i think that sounds great. we can totally grab a few drinks and rest for a bit â also, iâm kind of hungry. you think thereâs a chance that they serve burgers?â she inquired before his words induced a chuckle from her. shaking her head, myra said, âi donât know âbout you but that sounded more like youâre bribing me just so iâd shut up and refrain from poking your compunction further.â
â okay, now itâs your turn to shut up, â he retorted ; the malice in his words balanced evenly with the laugh and shake of his head. the setting sun, submerging beneath the horizon, cast long SHADOWS, throwing the length of their respective bodies across the surrounding landscape before disappearing into obscurity. surrounding foliage, always green, seemed to somehow d e e p e n in color, deepen in SCENT as a gust of air cooled the perspiration on his forehead. the transition from summer to autumn was an interesting one -- long days spent baking in the sun, dropped in temperature at night. albeit, skye leaned toward the warmer end of the body heat spectrum, if such a thing existed. he felt it now, however, as the sunâs decreasing rays directly correlated to his own physical exertion.
â yeah, iâm sure they do.. itâs sort of like a bar & grill. i donât think iâve ever actually ordered food there, but iâve seen people eating, â he assured her. then, as if prompted by her words, skye couldâve sworn his stomach growled -- the mere thought of food churning up a refreshed sense of motivation to finish up the hike. â AND putting aside the fact that iâm not even sure what â compunction â means, but i assume i donât have it because... iâm just an incredibly charming and thorough gentleman... maybe i am bribing you. how else would i get you to stop bullying me? â

Walking Charlie had become apart of Brookeâs daily routine over the year sheâd had the pup. The tendency to see him almost smiling was enlightening â which Brooke knew sounded preposterous, but a girl could dream about her dog smiling, okay? It was simple, a time to relax even, de-stressing after a day of work and, more often than not, saying something incredible stupid that had her thinking about it for hours afterward. Of course, knowing her pure luck and life in general, sheâd see Skye. Stopping in her path for a moment, she stared at the male up ahead and offered a smile before she realised Charlie was still walking and the lead yanked forward, sending Brooke tripping slightly. Regaining her balance, the smile was still firm on her lips as she looked at the male, refusing to acknowledge the blush that was creeping up her neck. Why is it that every time sheâd seen him, whether that be in town or the countless other timeâs sheâd run into him whilst dog walking, since meeting him a few months back sheâd done something idiotic? Huffing a breath she walked forward, falling into step behind Charlie before tugging on his lead to slow him down as she came to a stop in front of Skye. âI promise that was Charlie yanking me and not just me tripping over⊠thin air,â she smiled sheepishly, a slight cringe on her lips as she reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her air, fingers lingering.
he smirked when he saw her--- the beginnings of a titter upon his lips as the pug tugged brooke forward. as cleo, beside him, spotted the other dog, he gave a low warning not to go running off. walking her had become a part of daily routine, whether it was on a quick route throughout town or a trail when he had an hour to spare ( albeit, never a long one--- carrying her for the last half-mile, when sheâd grown too tired the first time, had been a lesson learned ). nevertheless, less than out of pure necessity, itâd become one of his simple JOYS. whenever his daughter was in paris for the better part of the year, his dog became the only consistent company he had & an irreversible bond had grown out of their relationship. so skye understood. he knew the special effect said companionship could have on a person, and... well, he wasnât entirely sure brooklyn had many friends. she was cute, especially the first time sheâd come into the dive shop, but he hadnât seen her around other people since. that was a judgmental thought, however.
as he neared the two, cleo -- whom heâd trained to be off-leash from the time she was a year old ( re: consistent company ) -- trotted up to charlie to sniff hello. skye, himself, knelt down to scratch the dog behind the ears. â RIGHT. it was all charlie. yâknow, if i didnât know any better, iâd say youâve been following me, â he smirked, glancing up to meet brookeâs eyes after a beat & squinting in the sunlight. â how long did it take you to plot out the route i take? â
     â  M Y R A --- ---
since she wasnât even so left behind on the trails, skyeâs words didnât go unheard by the redhead and she only had to roll her eyes at him. âhonestly, skye, just shut up.âÂ
though hiking was something that wasnât new to myra, it was surely her lack of doing the activity in the past years that made her feel as if she had lost her touch to it. since she had been promoted and considered as one of the most vital criminal investigators in the island, she never did have much time left in her hands aside from the one she would spend bonding with freja and the one where she would sit behind her desk for hours, scanning and reviewing the pile of folders which held papers for cases that she have yet to solve. but now that she finally had the time to do something else other than what was on her usual routine, myra didnât feel the need of passing the opportunity as she have done it a couple of times before. it was possible that she wouldâve forgotten what it was like to get in touch with the beauty of the nature that was in corsica, had she refused to agree to go with skye. but now, as she felt the sea breeze and smelled the greenery that surrounded them, the redhead felt as if she had been missing a lot in her life and now, she needed to catch up.
hands gripping each of her backpackâs straps, myra took few more steps to get to skye before she wiped the percolating sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand. âcanât you at least just appreciate the fact that i finally granted your wish that was to hike with me?â she said, tone coated with evident humor as she spoke.
he laughed, breath light & airy as his calf muscles worked the slight incline. having not been so far ahead -- really, only a few paces, though he r a r e l y missed an opportunity to TEASE -- he lingered for a bit to give myra a chance to fall into step beside him. as habitual as their banter could be, it was merely a show of EASE: the security he felt in their friendship. it was a connection by happenstance, thatâd grown into something solid, secure over the years. he wasnât sure theyâd have taken to each other, otherwise, had it not been for myraâs previous relationship & skyeâs own friendship with her ex. which, heâd be quick to note, have both since ended. â i could... â he trailed off, brows raising slightly as he unscrewed the cap to his water bottle and raised it to his lips before looking at her again, a slow smile betraying him.
â iâm kidding, iâm kidding -- i do appreciate you coming out with me. itâs a lot more fun, not by myself like some fuckinâ... creep. â as they walked along, he pulled aside an extending branch for them both to easily pass under ( wondering, momentarily, why the city hadnât cleared it ) and downed the last of his water. â thereâs a bar around the end of the trail, if you feel like stopping in for a drink afterward. or to at least use the restroom, since itâs been a couple hours. iâll even pay, to show my gratitude. â
I am singing now while Rome burns. We are all just trying to be holy.

Corsican party life was something Ben wasnât sure heâd actually get used too. Even in his home he was the wallflower of parties, holding the wall with a bottle of beer and tapping his foot to whatever Top 40 hit was playing in the distance. If someone wanted a bad pun or some conspiracy theory, theyâd come to Ben. He was filled with stories and false philosophical assumptions that surely made everyone laugh. He was entertaining but not enough to be the life of the party, he watched as people flooded the dance floor outside. The cool breeze of the clear sky swept across his face causing his cheek to turn a shade of red. He felt inferior and every inch of him was begging to return to his hotel room in solace. Before he was able to escape he noticed a familiar face in the crowd and thought it wouldnât hurt to say hello. He assumed that maybe it would help him create more solid relationships with others. After all, he was deciding to permanently live in this damned island. â And you look like you wanna leave as much as I do. â What is it? You donât like 80s pop legend, Abba? â After taking a sip of his beer  he sang in a high tune, â You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your lifffeee. âÂ
it was strange, the amount of responsibility that came with having a child of your own â with wanting m o r e, as if that wasnât enough. his days, it seemed, while singular in their comings and goings, ran like clockwork & culminated into christmas and summer vacations. in that sense, skye had always known for the past five years exactly what his year-round schedule would look like, sacrificing the luxury of leisure for the new ultimate in his world: his daughter. stranger still, was the truth in the phrase â outta sight, outta mind â â perhaps he only felt like a father when lara was around. perhaps he only felt like a father when there wasnât a beautiful woman in nothing but a bikini & sarong to distract him into youthfulness ; the coquetry of yet another evening spent at a beachfront bar â the party of some friend of a friendâs â looming like an inevitability in the air, pungent with the smell of beer and balmy skin. in fact, perhaps that was why he hadnât been awarded primary custody: the evidence that he both lived in the past, yet too in the present.
he drained the last of his beer in two thick gulps, ridding himself of a lingering sense of guilt, rotting away within him for five years, in a mere few seconds. it was the sound of someoneâs voice that snapped him out of it, causing skye to break eye contact with the aforementioned woman â probably for the best. he then turned to find the voice & grinned at the sight of ben, clapping him on the back in greeting. â doesnât sound like you wanna leave, so much as get kicked out, man, â he quipped. â if youâre expecting me to sing along, benjamin, remember: i must be paid for all live performances i do, you have to know that. these pipes donât come for free, bitch. â
â nah, but reallyâ iâm surprised to see you here. you come for the music? âcause, yâknow, youâve got a talent. a wonderful thing. everyone listens when you start to sing. â
