You can tell when I’m excited about a new doll, because I’ll try to make an accessory for her before she arrives. Here, I crocheted a black and white tote bag, with stripes as a little nod to Barbie’s most well-known swim suit.

I made all these dumb accessories to go with her outfit, but I regret bothering to do it. I made them before the doll arrived, and I didn’t know her dress had a neon pink on it! Somehow the neon says something else to me. I’d’ve picked a different set of things to make.
The yellow vest was basically an experiment to see if the shape works (it doesn’t) and also it covers the one shoulder of her dress, so a vest was a silly choice to begin with.
Or maybe I just don’t like her outfit that much?
cat loaf. fashion pack. techno witch?
Happy Halloween! 🎃
I did not set a single doll on fire, which I am quite proud of.
Because you know the first thing that happened after carefully placing the flaming cauldron was a doll doing a perfect faceplant. 😂
I crocheted the hats and the red poncho this past week. I know zero kids will ring the bell for candy tonight, so this is largely how I’m celebrating. ✨🌚✨
Her backstory: she used to work in the fashion industry, but she retired early to raise chickens, because that is as close to her one true love as she could get. Oh, what is it that she loves? Dinosaurs! Maybe she will have a third career. She’s thinking about it.
She’s very cute in sunflowers, and still very cute in her white dress.
Body swapping her with the tall basketball player (who is currently sporting a fashionista head that I didn’t think matched very well). Still not a perfect match, but pretty good, even in sunlight.
I felt like an archeologist while trying to oh-so-carefully remove this doll from the box. Her headband was held on by elastic, which has degraded over the past twenty years. I was hoping to peel it off in one complete strip, but no such luck! The middle section stuck to her hair. I kind of panicked, because her hair is gorgeous and pre-dates the oozy glue-head problems. But I googled a fair bit, and decided to wash her hair in cold water with dishwashing soap. It’s mostly gone - it could probably use another wash, but it’s not noticeable and didn’t change the feel of her hair. I felt like I had to wash it before the scheduled boiling water beheading, because I’m not sure if old elastic would melt into her hair and get even more gross. Obstacle avoided! Congratulations me! (Also I can’t believe they just CUT A HOLE in her beautiful shawl for packaging reasons.) So many things were sewn together, my seam ripper really got a work out.
It’s been a while since I did anything with dolls, buuuuuuuut I kinda had to have her. Now I am learning all the joys of de-boxing a 20 year old doll. Don’t worry, I picked one in a box that was pretty beat up. Some of the fringe was glued together, but was easy to separate.
I wish his hairline was rooted more neatly, but he’s still gorgeous and I don’t want to wait another three months for a replacement 😬😂🥊
Showing off her garden, full of weeds.
I’ve warmed up to the bucket hat, but the rest of the outfit will not be repeated.
omg these *shoes*
I wove a fabulous bag for her, because she deserves it.
