Hi! :) It's actually not Albus's first day at Hogwarts yet. It's supposed to be on September 1, 2017 (1998 + 19 years = 2017). JKR even confirmed this on her twitter.

I know the fandom is perhaps not what it was four years ago - or three, or two, or even last year - and that Potterheads will be having children of their own by now, and sending them to school, but September 1st will always make me feel nostalgic.

I no longer have to go to school, but every September 1st would make me feel a little better about having to go back. For a day, all these kids who’d been stemming off thoughts of school could let their guard down. It was okay to think about school - about Hogwarts - and your stomach didn’t turn at the thought of it. I’d get excited about going back to my own school as I got excited to go to Hogwarts. Something that didn’t happen before I had Harry Potter.

I’d wait and watch as my clock ticked down to 11am, and get a little thrill of excitement, knowing the Hogwarts Express was pulling away at that moment. I’d feel like I was walking around with a secret, a secret shared with millions of Potterheads, on September 1st. 

And today, marking Albus Severus’ first day and the last bit of film we have (’Nineteen years later’), it’s impossible not to feel sentimental. The excitement that we all shared as children might have crystallised into nostalgia - but our hearts feel ready to burst either way.

1497. Snape’s portrait often followed both Albus Severus and Scorpius round the castle, keeping an eye on the two. Having died protecting Harry and having preserved Draco’s soul, Snape found scaring their sons away from dangerous corridors and murky dungeons light work. And oddly enjoyable.

1496. When Snape’s portrait met Albus Severus for the first time, he was struck once again by the green gleam of Lily’s eyes on another’s face - but this time in a different way. Watching Albus - a somewhat lonely child - with his greasy hair and loping walk, he could not help but think that he was looking at what his and Lily’s child may have looked like. His portrait often followed the boy round the castle, ensuring he stayed out of harm’s way.

1495. It was 4am on a Monday morning when McGonagall was summoned to discipline Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs for the 37th time that term. Exasperated and tired, she doled out detentions, took away points, and told the boys that trying to set off fireworks outside the Slytherin dungeons in the early hours of the morning was not, generally speaking, a good idea. The boys hung their heads as she sat back in her chair and pressed her hands to her temples, seemingly overcome by their foolishness. She opened her mouth to speak, shook her head, then exhaled shortly. 'You just can't - maraud around the castle like you own the place!'. Following an explanation afterwards from Remus on the meaning of the word 'maraud', 'The Marauders' were born.

Ok so basically I am an emotional wreck at like a surprising amount of my headcanons coming true I will definitely be writing some more but for the sake of those who have not read the script yet I will be posting 'teasery' ones to begin with. Currently reading The Cursed Child and all my feels are coming back <3 it is also heartwarming to see how many of my headcanons have come true! 

I’m currently feeling very inspired by all this new material so expect to have some ‘next gen’ headcanons from me at some point. Sorry I’ve been away so long.
