"A semi-colon is used in place of a period when a writer could have ended a sentence but chose to continue it." - @projsemicolon . . . . Two years ago on June 2nd, 2016 I tried to end my life. I had an almost-full bottle of Xanax (possibly 4 or 5 missing) in my bathroom cupboard and after a particularly hard day full of stress and alcohol, I came home and took the whole thing. I walked back into my bedroom and sat down on my bed, the realization of what I had done sunk in and I began to freak out. I reached for my phone and saw that a friend had messaged me, so I messaged her back asking for help. She told me that she and some of our friends were on their way over. Before they got there, my friend called my aunt (metaphorical aunt) who was staying at my house and told her what I did. My aunt came into my room and helped me into the bathroom where she made me throw up bedore taking me to the ER. I spent the night in the ER and then checked into a mental health facility for the next 5 days. During my time there, I worked through the triggers that had pushed me to try to overdose. On June 11th, 2016 I was admitted into an intensive outpatient program at another mental health facility. I spent 2 weeks in a 5-day-a-week program before I moved into a 3-day-a-week program that was supposed to target and change behaviors that I was exhibiting. During my time in both mental health facilities I learned a lot about myself and even made some friends. I didn't want to die; I wanted help. I was able to get the help I needed and even built up a stronger support aystem for myself, while also joining the support system for a few ithers like myself. I will never regret my time in these facilities or the skills that I learned in order to cope with the mental illnesses I have been diagnosed with. My name is Chelsea Rene Wareham and I am not my label. I have depression, but I am not my depression. I have anxiety, but I am not my anxiety. I have borderline personality disorder, but I am not my borderline personality disorder. I am a warrior, a dancer, a girlfriend, a best friend, a daughter, a snowboarder, a nerd, and so many other things, but I am NOT my diagnoses. #mystory
