Cy Twombly, 1957. RIP
Fun Fact: Twombly was the first American to produce a permanent installation at the Lourve. In a departure from his signature squiggles and scratches, he applied strips of oil on canvas to the entire length and width of the Salles des Bronzes ceiling like wallpaper, creating a hypnotically deep blue sky with spheres of silver and gold. Notably, he intentionally incorporated the room's bronze sculpture collection by delicately scripting the names of famous Greek and Roman sculptors to quietly whisper above the artworks as a lasting and fitting homage to our artist forefathers.

Their continued ticking serves as a metaphor for our sincere perseverance and attempts to maintain this Love in the face of a crumbling balance and growing apart-ness.
This is very important.
