hi misha!! i think you briefly mentioned that you use slightly altered default procreate brushes for your artwork, but it would be really cool if you shared your current favourites (and if possible, their settings)! your use of texture EATS, thanks for sharing with us amazing art without fail <3

Your art is amazing!! what is that brush you use for lighting and on the edges of the characters? Like the one that has triangle ridges

thank you!! flat stamp + increased spacing between them combination makes this kind of brush. i both paint with it and use it as an eraser

Are you willing to share how you chose colors for your art?

first let's establish couple of things:

1. while all primary colors are either cool or warm in relation to one another, each color can also come in cool or warm shade

2. it's better for all colours in the picture to be of either cool or warm shade

i start with characters skin which will decide shade temperature of every other color

then hair and for natural hair colors i don't move the wheel and just go darker/lighter/brighter/duller from where the skin color is, and if there's no way of getting the right one (which happens often with red hair) i adjust skin color. for unnatural just choose shade of right temperature

and the rest is similar process

if theres multiple characters and some are explicitly warm and others are explicitly cool by design one of the groups has to be turned neutral for the sake of this specific art so they won't look green and purple next to each other

if everything looks kinda pale i duplicate the color layer (which i only have one) turn the top one to multiply and lower its opacity

when i struggle designing something new i make a grayscale miniature to figure out how light and dark i want things to be and then do colors separately

if there's lightning and background blending modes and gradient maps are inevitably gonna be put to use and that's pretty much it ig
