“Abolish Ice” oil on wooden canvas by Jake Prendez 2026
Excited to share my new painting “Abolish Ice”. This painting has been 20 years in the making. Here’s the story… Back in 2006, I marched in La Gran Marcha in Los Angeles with 1.25 million people demanding immigrant rights. That day I captured many photographs including a photo of a boy holding a sign that read “I, Too Have A Dream.”That image never left me. Now 20 years later, it lives again in my new painting, “Abolish ICE.”
Two decades later, our community is still fighting for its humanity. I still believe No human is illegal on stolen land and migration is beautiful. We must Abolish ICE.
